República e educa o : dos princípios da Escola Nova ao Manifesto dos Pioneiros da Educa o
Luís Alberto Marques Alves
Revista da Faculdade de Letras : Historia , 2010,
Abstract: The first decades of the twentieth century brought a profound refl ection about the new direction of the school, the contents of education, the new role of teachers and the best methodologies to reach the recipients. In this article we seek to systematize the essential ideas that the New School Movement (Europe and USA, mainly) and the Manifesto of the Pioneers of Education (Brazil) brought to the major educational changes of the fi rst half of the twentieth century.
ISEP (Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto) . Identity of a School with Roots in the 1800’s
Luís Alberto Marques Alves
Sísifo : Educational Sciences Journal , 2006,
Abstract: The forerunner of ISEP was inaugurated on 27th. March, 1854 with the designation of “Industrial School of Porto” (Escola Industrial do Porto). In 1864, the Industrial Institute of Porto (Instituto Industrial do Porto) was created, closely modelled on its namesake in Lisbon. Emídio Júlio Navarro was responsible for the Decree which, on 30th. December,1886, ordered the reform of industrial training in Porto, establishing new courses specially in commerce. From 1886-87, the Institute was organized into two departments: the industrial section and the commercial section. After the First World War, technical training was completely reformed so that the I.I.C.P. was divided to create the Industrial Institute, the Commercial Institute and the Higher Institute of Commerce. In 1924, the two branches of secondary education were again merged, allegedly to streamline resources, thus creating the I.I.C.P. (1924-1933).In 1933 with the New State, the Industrial Institute of Porto (1933-1974), definitively made commercial training autonomous and moved from the installations in the Porto University building to the building of the extinct Faculty of Letters. It was only on 19th. June, 1968 that the Paranhos centres (Rua de S. Tomé) were inaugurated. In 1988, ISEP became part of the structure of the Polytechnis Institute of Porto (Instituto Politécnico do Porto).
Una experiencia de tutorización reflexiva en la formación inicial de docentes: Significados y valoraciones de los estudiantes
Guzmán Palacios,Luís Alberto;
Educere , 2009,
Abstract: the article collects the meanings and value of pedagogy students on a reflexive tutoring experience in teaching practices in an educational institute within the context of initial education of teachers and particularly in the teaching practices? system performed in higher education institutions in chile. based on establishing different conditions and ways to act to obtain a real educational approach of reflexive practice, the qualitative-nature study shows the sense and impact of reflexive tutoring in professional education and in pedagogy students? disposition, along with critic visions and future possibilities assigned by the subjects as part of their teacher education. the results state the plausibility of experience as mediation form and highlight the possibility condition to build practical and discoursive communities in teachers? initial education.

Radiologia Brasileira , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-39842004000300014
Abstract: we present the preliminary results of testing and acceptance of a method for displaying medical images that employs simple computer freewares that can be run in unsophisticated computational platforms, which are commonly underutilized. this method allows easy and accessible visualization, printing, documenting, archiving, consulting and electronic transmission of a wide range of medical images without the need of expensive, complex and difficult to learn softwares.
Ajuste del cierre del mecanismo de descarga de un vagón tolva usando miembros ajustables
Mendoza,Jesus Alberto; Otero,Luís;
Universidad, Ciencia y Tecnología , 2009,
Abstract: among other types of wagons, cvg ferrominera orinoco (fmo) uses 350 hopper type wagons for ore transportation. each of these wagons has a mechanical linkage system, made up of nine mobile elements plus a frame to open and close two rotary doors located at the bottom of the wagons. this paper presents development of a mathematical model to find out how the calibrating lengths of the operating mechanism?s four adjustable members allow variations of the angular position of the doors from its fully closed position. the mathematical model is obtained from the total differentials of the kinematics constraints equations and is used to find the relative influence coefficients of each adjustable member on the kinematic accuracy of the doors motion. the results show that the maximum error depends mainly upon the correct positioning of the primary element. it is also proved that two of the adjustable members in the original design do not play an important role in the tight closing. keywords: hopper type wagons/ discharge doors/ positional control/ adjustable members/tight closing.

DALLAN, Luís Alberto Oliveira;OLIVEIRA, Sérgio Almeida de;
Revista Brasileira de Cirurgia Cardiovascular , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-76382000000200002
Abstract: the authors report the effects of laser rays, the different kinds of rays and their interaction with biological tissues. the use of laser rays in medicine, from photocoagulation experimental studies in the animal retina to their use in atheroma plaques and the cardiac muscle is also reported, with emphasis on the pioneer studies carried out in brazil. indirect methods of myocardial revascularization, the basis for the use of laser rays in transmyocardial revascularization surgery are reported as well, in addition to randomized protocols which have shown this procedure is adequate for the treatment of a selected group of patients. a special emphasis is given to the kind of patient chosen for revascularization using laser, i.e., patients in end-stage coronary artery disease, with ischemic (and viable) myocardium with angina, after all the usual therapy resources have been tried, especially classic myocardial revascularization and angioplasty. the experience of the heart institute in a two-year period consists of 40 patients with the clinical characteristics above, who underwent transmyocardial revascularization using laser rays. after 12 months of follow-up, about 87.8% of them have a significant improvement of symptoms, with regression of class iii or iv angina to classes 0, i or ii (p<0.0001). three (7.5%) early deaths and 2 late deaths were observed. despite a mild improvement in left ventricular function, shown by magnetic resonance and echocardiographic study, there was no change in myocardial perfusion. the fate of the channels created by laser rays in the myocardium is studied based on our own results and in literature. the probable activity mechanisms are also discussed, emphasizing myocardial denervation and neoangiogenesis. future perspective involves the use of laser in minimally invasive procedures combined to classic myocardial revascularization.

Abstract: genetic counseling is a major component of medical conduct in sickle cell disease with relevant medical, psychological, social, ethical and judicial implications. in the current work considerations of this process elaborated by the genetic counseling service on hemoglobinopathies of unicamp at the request of the national program of comprehensive care to sufferers of sickle cell disease and other hemoglobinopathies, of the brazilian ministry of health, are presentedl.
