Abstract: In order to improve the anticoagulant function of Auricularia auricula, Auricularia auricula polysaccharide(AAP)was converted into its derivatives by the microbial fermentation method and then polysaccharide derivatives with stronger anticoagulant activity were prepared. The optimal conditions for fermenting the polysaccharide from A. auricula were examined and the in vitro anticoagulant activities of transformed and untransformed polysaccharides were compared. Response surface tests and an orthogonal experiment indicated that the best conditions for microbial conversion of AAP3 were an AAP3 concentration of 4.0 mg/mL, a ratio of substrate(AAP3)to donor(p-hydroxybenzoic acid)of 40∶1, and a pH of 6.0. Bacillus subtilis Bs-07 was inoculated and then placed on a rotary shaker(120 r/min), followed by fermentation for 48 h at 35 ℃.The conversion rate was found to be greater than 40%. The result of in vitro anticoagulant activity showed that the transformed polysaccharide improved activated partial thromboplastin time, prothrombin time, and thrombin time values and greatly enhanced anticoagulant activity compared to the untransformed polysaccharide.

Abstract: Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is an intermediate stage between normal cognitive function and dementia among aging individuals. This study was designed to estimate the prevalence of MCI and explore the possible risk factors including gender disparities among community-dwelling older individuals. The study was conducted in Xi’an, China. This is a cross-sectional study. A total of 815 individuals, 60 years and older were selected by stratified random cluster sampling. Cognitive function was measured using the mini-mental status examination (MMSE), the Chinese version of the Dementia Rating Scales (CDRS) was used to apply the diagnostic of non-dementia, and activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) systems were used to functional status. The association between sociodemographic characteristics, lifestyle, history of chronic diseases and MCI were evaluated separately for men and women using the Pearson χ2- test and binary logistic regression. Of the 815 community-dwelling individuals, 145 were found to have MCI. Overall, the prevalence of MCI was 18.5%, with a prevalence of 19.6% in women (105/535), and 15.3% (40/261) in men. The results of the binary logistical regression analysis indicated that age and history of stroke were associated with MCI in men. For women, the risk factors were lower level of educational and lack of religious attendance. Results suggested that the factors capable of influencing MCI differed profoundly between older men and older women. For this reason, different preventative measures should be adopted to delay or reverse cognitive impairment among community-dwelling older men and women.

PLOS ONE , 2014, DOI: 10.1371/journal.pone.0089442
Abstract: Objectives This meta-analysis was conducted to investigate whether the status of rheumatoid factor (RF) and anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (anti-CCP) antibody are associated with the clinical response to anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF) alpha treatment in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Methods A systemic literature review was performed using the MEDLINE, SCOPUS, Cochrane Library, ISI Web of Knowledge, and Clinical Trials Register databases, and Hayden's criteria of quality assessment for prognostic studies were used to evaluate all of the studies. The correlation between the RF and anti-CCP antibody status with the treatment effect of anti-TNFα agents was analyzed separately using the Mantel Haenszel method. A fixed-effects model was used when there was no significant heterogeneity; otherwise, a random-effects model was applied. Publication bias was assessed using Egger's linear regression and a funnel plot. Results A total of 14 studies involving 5561 RA patients meeting the inclusion criteria were included. The overall analysis showed that the pooled relative risk for the predictive effects of the RF and anti-CCP antibody status on patient response to anti-TNFα agents was 0.98 (95% CI: 0.91–1.05, p = 0.54) and 0.88 (95% CI: 0.76–1.03, p = 0.11), respectively, with I2 values of 43% (p = 0.05) and 67% (p<0.01), respectively. Subgroup analyses of different anti-TNFα treatments (infliximab vs. etanercept vs. adalimumab vs. golimumab), response criteria (DAS28 vs. ACR20 vs. EULAR response), follow-up period (≥6 vs. <6 months), and ethnic group did not reveal a significant association for the status of RF and anti-CCP. Conclusions Neither the RF nor anti-CCP antibody status in RA patients is associated with a clinical response to anti-TNFα treatment.

Open Journal of Business and Management (OJBM) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/ojbm.2019.73078
Abstract: Mobile payment service is exploding at an impressive rate as the global mobile payment revenue almost tripled over the last five years. But the reasons behind this phenomenon are still not clear. This paper thus focuses on identifying the key factors that contribute to the success of mobile payments. We firstly take a look at the current status of mobile payments. With this brief background in mind, we then address several questions associated with three key actors of mobile payment ecosystem: m-payment service provider, consumer, merchants. Specifically, the business model of mobile payments firms (including value proposition, market contribution, revenue source), consumer preferences and merchant. Conclusions: Mobile payment is gradually developing towards diversification and cross-border integration with highly sophisticated technology behind; the success of mobile payments application is based on aprofitable and valuable business model; in order to gain a competitive advantage when facing with fierce competition in the market, firms should respond best to consumer change and merchant feedback.
A Novel Efficient Mode Selection Approach for H.264  [PDF]
Lu Lu, Wei Zhou
Journal of Software Engineering and Applications (JSEA) , 2010, DOI: 10.4236/jsea.2010.35053
Abstract: H.264 video coding standard introduces motion estimation with multiple block sizes to achieve a considerably higher coding efficiency than other video coding algorithms. However, this comes at the greatly increased computing complexity at the encoder. In this paper, a method is proposed to eliminate some redundant coding modes that contribute very little coding gain. The simulation results show that the algorithm can remarkably decrease the complexity at the encoder while keeping satisfying coding efficiency.

Caimei Lu, Lu Zhang
American Journal of Industrial and Business Management (AJIBM) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/ajibm.2018.85091
Abstract: We take 2259 P2P Lending platforms as the sample, and integrate 14 variables from five dimensions to analyze the risk factors of P2P Lending problematic platforms by binary logistic model. The empirical results show that the 11 variables which are the type of company, platform background, operation time, the type of project, interest rate, fund custody, term of loan, day-bid, transfer of creditor’s rights, automatic bidding and information disclosure, have significant influences on the operating status of the platform, while the other variables such as registered capital, the number of employees and security mechanism have no obvious impact on the operating status of the platform. The results provide a reference for investors and regulators.

Journal of Software Engineering and Applications (JSEA) , 2010, DOI: 10.4236/jsea.2010.33025
Abstract: A method is presented for incrementally computing success patterns of logic programs. The set of success patterns of a logic program with respect to an abstraction is formulated as the success set of an equational logic program modulo an equality theory that is induced by the abstraction. The method is exemplified via depth and stump abstractions. Also presented are algorithms for computing most general unifiers modulo equality theories induced by depth and stump abstractions.

Advances in Biological Chemistry (ABC) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/abc.2012.23038
Abstract: Codon nonsense mutations include amber, ochre, or opal mutations according to termination codon consisting of three types (TAG, TAA and TGA). Codon nonsense mutations are also divided into natural and artificial mutations. We discussed the interaction of codon nonsense mutations and suppressor tRNAs in vitro and in vivo. Nonsense suppressions do not only happen in prokaryotes but also in eukaryotes. Meanwhile, the misreading of termination codon and in-corporation of nonnatural amino acids into proteins are also introduced.

Water Metaphors in Dao de jing: A Conceptual Analysis  [PDF]
Yanying Lu
Open Journal of Modern Linguistics (OJML) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ojml.2012.24020
Abstract: This paper focuses on the use of water metaphors in the ancient Chinese text Dao de jing (168 BC), which is the foundational text of Daoism and a primary source of modern Chinese ideas about life and politics. The paper analyses how the image of water is used in the text to facilitate the conceptualization of the core philosophical concepts. The analysis is based on the theoretical framework of the Conceptual Metaphor Theory (Lakoff & Johnson, 1980; Kövecses, 2002). Water is discovered as occupying an essential position in the conceptualization of the Daoist worldview, which is manifested in notions of 道 dao and 德 de. It demonstrates that a cognitive approach offers an effective way to explore the cognitive basis of the text’s views on the eternal cosmological processing and of the application of morality in the human world.
