The Transformer Equipment Selection’s Update Decision Technical and Economic Analysis Model  [PDF]
Jincheng Shang, Zhongfu Tan, Chen Zhang, Liwei Ju
Energy and Power Engineering (EPE) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/epe.2013.54B027
Abstract: Based on the current situation of the domestic transformer equipment selection, the paper analyses the SH15, S11 and S9 transformer from the angles of annual running power consumption, payback period, energy efficiency of the transformer, furthermore, determine the best optimal capacity, load factor and update Year of the SH15-type transformers. Example analysis results show that, from the point of view of the technical and economic the SH15-type transformer has better economic and environmental benefits, and large capacity SH15 transformer better comprehensive benefits.
The Many-on-One Stochastic Duel Model with Information-Sharing  [PDF]
Jianjun Li, Liwei Liu
Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/am.2012.36097
Abstract: In this paper we extend the one-on-one stochastic duel model with searching to the many-on-one case based on information-sharing. We have derived the probability density function of the time to kill the target in many-on-one model. It is illustrated by an example in which the firing time and the searching time are of different exponential distributions.
A Qualitative Analysis on the Occurrence of Learned Helplessness among EFL Students
Liwei Hsu
Journal of Educational and Developmental Psychology , 2011, DOI: 10.5539/jedp.v1n1p162
Abstract: This study seeks to provide some comprehensive information on EFL students’ learned helplessness when learning English, by exploring the causal relationship between three variables: failure to learn English, personality traits and intrinsic/extrinsic motivation. Eighteen students and two English teachers participated in this study with a gatekeeper’s consent. This was done mainly through focus group interviews. The data was elicited from the NEO-FI Personality Trait Inventory with a cross analysis done on the in-depth interviews. The findings indicate that students with different personality traits do regard their failure to learn English in different ways. This in turn, leads to various influences that decrease their intrinsic motivation. The intrinsic motivation for all of the participants is inevitably affected by failure, but learners with a neuroticism trait are the most sensitive to failure. Therefore, these are the students who are most susceptible to experiencing learned helplessness when learning English, while students with traits of openness, extraversion and agreeableness can reactivate their extrinsic motivation when appealed to by external incentives. However, this study also discovered that there was a mismatch between a teacher’s judgment on student amotivation and the student’s self-assessment of his/her motivation to learn English.
Hemodynamic effects of partial splenic artery embolization in patients with liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension
DUAN Liwei
Journal of Clinical Hepatology , 2013,
Abstract: ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical efficacy and therapeutic value of partial splenic artery embolization (PSE) for treating portal hypertension in patients with liver cirrhosis. MethodsTwenty-three patients diagnosed with liver cirrhosis of different etiology and with portal hypertension were treated with PSE. Diameter and blood flow velocity of the portal vein (PV) and splenic vein (SV) were measured by color Doppler ultrasound before PSE (baseline) and after PSE (postoperative week 1 and months 1, 3, and 6). Statistical significance of differences was assessed by paired t-test. ResultsBoth the PV and SV blood flow velocities were significantly enhanced after PSE (all postoperative times vs. baseline, P<0.05). SV diameter was significantly reduced after PSE (all postoperative times vs. baseline, P<005). PV diameter, however, was not significantly reduced at six months after PSE (vs. baseline, P≥0.05). ConclusionPSE can reduce portal vein pressure in patients with liver cirrhosis.
Woman Subculture Development Seen from Woman Language
Liwei Zhu
Journal of Language Teaching and Research , 2011, DOI: 10.4304/jltr.2.3.613-617
Abstract: The woman subculture study is widely conducted through several decades since the beginning of the second wave feminist movement in 1960s. This paper intends to explain the woman subculture development in view of the woman language. First, it gives the definition of subculture. Second, it explains why woman culture is considered as a subculture. Third, with reference to sociolinguistic studies of woman language, it offers further clarification of some important feminist theories like gendered knowledge, standpoint theory and muted group theory. Also some key conceptions which are closely tied to woman subculture are expounded through the analysis of woman language. Last, the paper explains how woman subculture is transmitted through feminist theories and literary criticism works and how it is divided into three phases.
The $L^p$ boundedness of the Bergman projection for a class of bounded Hartogs domains
Liwei Chen
Mathematics , 2013,
Abstract: We generalize the Hartogs triangle to a class of bounded Hartogs domains, and we prove that the corresponding Bergman projections are bounded on $L^p$ if and only if $p$ is in the range $(\frac{2n}{n+1},\frac{2n}{n-1})$.
Weighted Sobolev regularity of the Bergman projection on the Hartogs triangle
Liwei Chen
Mathematics , 2015,
Abstract: We prove a weighted Sobolev estimate of the Bergman projection on the Hartogs triangle, where the weight is some power of the distance to the singularity at the boundary. This method also applies to the $n$-dimensional generalization of the Hartogs triangle.
Weighted Bergman Projection on the Hartogs Triangle
Liwei Chen
Mathematics , 2014,
Abstract: We prove the $L^p$ regularity of the weighted Bergman projection on the Hartogs triangle, where the weights are powers of the distance to the singularity at the boundary. The restricted range of $p$ is proved to be sharp. By using a two-weight inequality on the upper half plane with Muckenhoupt weights, we can consider a slightly wider class of weights.
Text Classification Using Support Vector Machine with Mixture of Kernel  [PDF]
Liwei Wei, Bo Wei, Bin Wang
Journal of Software Engineering and Applications (JSEA) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/jsea.2012.512B012
Abstract: Recent studies have revealed that emerging modern machine learning techniques are advantageous to statistical models for text classification, such as SVM. In this study, we discuss the applications of the support vector machine with mixture of kernel (SVM-MK) to design a text classification system. Differing from the standard SVM, the SVM-MK uses the 1-norm based object function and adopts the convex combinations of single feature basic kernels. Only a linear programming problem needs to be resolved and it greatly reduces the computational costs. More important, it is a transparent model and the optimal feature subset can be obtained automatically. A real Chinese corpus from FudanUniversityis used to demonstrate the good performance of the SVM- MK.

Jiao Feng, Liwei Ding, Yongjin Wang
Optics and Photonics Journal (OPJ) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/opj.2013.32B050

This paper reports a channel simulation of an indoor optical wireless multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) system with non-imaging receivers. The system consists of a 2×2 array of white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and 2×2 array of PDs. An overview of the model specifications, channel impulse response and channel capacity are demonstrated in this paper. The distribution of the first reflection is analyzed. The effect of SNR and the location of receivers on non-imaging optical MIMO communications are investigated. In addition, by moving the receivers, the optimal location of the communication is found.
