Abstract: In this paper, we consider the slack due-window assignment model and study a single machine scheduling problem of linear time-dependent deteriorating jobs and a deteriorating maintenance activity. The cost for each job consists of four components: earliness, tardiness, window location and window size. The objective is to schedule the jobs and to assign the maintenance activity and due-windows such that the total cost among all the jobs is minimized. A polynomial-time algorithm with the running time not exceeding $O(n^2logn)$ to give a solution to this problem is introduced, where $n$ is the number of jobs.

The objective is to find the job schedule having an assigned maintenance activity and due-windows with the minimum total cost consisting of costs of earliness, tardiness, window location and window size. A polynomial-time algorithm is presented in this paper with time complexity for n jobs.

Abstract:

This study examined the direct effect of individual variables (self-esteem, creative self-efficacy, intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation) on the Research and Development (R&D) engineers’ creativity. The data were analysed based on questionnaires returned by 130 R&D engineers attached to fifteen Electrical and Electronic (E&E) firms with R&D department in Penang, Malaysia. The convenience sampling method was employed in getting the samples. The results posited that all individual variables were positively related to R&D engineers’ creativity. The results also reported that there is no significant difference in R&D engineers’ creativity between contract employment type and permanent employment type. The theoretical and practical implications of the study as well as suggestion for future studies were also discussed.

Abstract: The evenness of yarn is an important index of quality control of textiles, so the researches about the yarn evenness test method have been the hotspot in the textile measurement for recent years. In this article, two main yarn evenness testing methods including the Uster method and the CTT (Constant Tension Transport) method which are important in the present textile industry are compared and studied. Though comparing and analyzing the testing principles of two methods, adopting the method of statistical analysis to correlatively analyze the testing data obtaining from two different testing measures, the method of CTT can more visually and exactly describe the appearance quality of yarns.

Abstract: The authors chose the teacher evaluation pieces literature of Chinese academic studies as the research object, analyzed the domestic dynamic and the views of some experts in this field, and summarized and compiled the research approaches and research methods of the UK and USA. The study found that whether at China or abroad, the study route is basically along the reward and punishment evaluation, from developmental evaluation to the performance evaluation, and compared to the foreign study, the Chinese studies, whether in theory or in practice, are relatively backward. Combined with the domestic situation, this study proposes a number of constructive suggestions. 1. The General Situations of Research Teacher evaluation is an important way to identify the performance of teachers and improve teacher quality, improving the work of teachers and schools. With the power of pull-driven education reform and teacher professional development theory, and as the Government’s efforts to teacher construction increase, combined with social cares and supports of public education, teacher’s role is undergoing a positive change in the common effect of the various internal and external forces. Therefore, teacher evaluation has also became one of the hot issues in the current domestic academia and the education sector. This study is based on the CNKI literatures, through information search, arrangement, analysis, and summary, and obtained results are as follows. The first literature retrieved form CNKI of the explicitly put forward “teacher evaluation” was Teacher Evaluation published in the Journal of Xuchang Teachers College in December 1985 written by Xu Gaohou, while the earliest introduction of foreign ideological experience was American Teacher Evaluation in the Malady written by Huang Zhicheng in March 1986, published in the Foreign Education Information. This study found that 1998 is an important point to jump in. Before 1998, domestic academic research on teacher evaluation was not particularly warm, and the annual amount of literature was about 10–20 articles, among these authors: Zhao Muxi from the Fengtai UNESCO, Chen Xiaoda from East China Normal University, and Wang Yuguang from Fujian Normal University, having more published articles. Since 1998, the academic study of “teacher evaluation” is becoming enthusiastic. Abstract: A new generalised approach for multiple correlated sources over a wiretap network is investigated. A basic model consisting of two correlated sources where each produce a component of the common information is initially investigated. There are several cases that consider wiretapped syndromes on the transmission links and based on these cases a new quantity, the information leakage at the source/s is determined. An interesting feature of the models described in this paper is the information leakage quantification. Shannon's cipher system with eavesdroppers is incorporated into the two correlated sources model to minimize key lengths. These aspects of quantifying information leakage and reducing key lengths using Shannon's cipher system are also considered for a multiple correlated source network approach. A new scheme that incorporates masking using common information combinations to reduce the key lengths is presented and applied to the generalised model for multiple sources.

Abstract:

The effect of metal and magnetic slab on the radiation characteristic of monopole antenna is studied in this paper. The presence of metal slab changes the antenna radiation pattern and it also increases the gain up to 4.6 dB. The radiation characteristic of monopole antenna is determined by the separation distance between planar monopole and metal slab. In addition, magnetic slab also changes the antenna radiation pattern and it also increases the gain up to 3 dB. Metal slab makes antenna generate reflection, but magnetic slab makes antenna generate refraction is their difference. As to the application slab, the initial pattern of the antenna without materials was omnidirectional. However, when the materials were added, its pattern would change, making the antenna to have other usages and transition effect. They will influence electromagnetic in power systems.

Effect of Hyperoxia and Hypercapnia on Tissue Oxygen and Perfusion Response in the Normal Liver and Kidney

Abstract: Objective Inhalation of air with altered levels of oxygen and carbon dioxide to manipulate tissue oxygenation and perfusion has both therapeutic and diagnostic value. These physiological responses can be measured non-invasively with magnetic resonance (MR) relaxation times. However, interpreting MR measurements is not straight-forward in extra-cranial organs where gas challenge studies have only begun to emerge. Inconsistent results have been reported on MR, likely because different organs respond differently. The objective of this study was to elucidate organ-specific physiological responses to gas challenge underlying MR measurements by investigating oxygenation and perfusion changes in the normal liver and kidney cortex. Materials and Methods Gas challenges (100% O2, 10% CO2, and carbogen [90% O2+10% CO2]) interleaved with room air was delivered to rabbits to investigate their effect on tissue oxygenation and perfusion. Real-time fiber-optic measurements of absolute oxygen and relative blood flow were made in the liver and kidney cortex. Results Only the liver demonstrated a vasodilatory response to CO2. Perfusion changes to other gases were minimal in both organs. Tissue oxygenation measurements showed the liver responding only when CO2 was present and the kidney only when O2 was present. Conclusion This study reveals distinct physiological response mechanisms to gas challenge in the liver and kidney. The detailed characterization of organ-specific responses is critical to improving our understanding and interpretation of MR measurements in various body organs, and will help broaden the application of MR for non-invasive studies of gas challenges.
