Effect of Solid Wastes Composition and Confinement Time on Methane Production in a Dump  [PDF]
Carlos González, Otoniel Buenrostro, Liliana Marquez, Consuelo Hernández, Edgar Moreno, Fabián Robles
Journal of Environmental Protection (JEP) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/jep.2011.210151
Abstract: In developing countries, illegal dump structures or even some landfills do not include methane collecting systems, even if local environmental laws exist. In this condition, the greenhouse gas escapes to the atmosphere uncontrolled and practical solutions to tackle this problem are not obvious. To make a solution approachable, first-hand reliable data from dump emissions are required as starting point. The methane production is not homogeneous throughout the dump, therefore to estimate its global methane emissions, various representative gas monitoring sites distributed along the dump becomes necessary. This research work presents the measures of biogas emissions collected in the final disposal site located at Morelia (Mexico), along with an evaluation of the organic fraction and confinement time participation on biogas production. Biogas emission data were taken with a portable analyzer from 49 ventilation pipes for 52 weeks. For the composition and degradability analysis of solid wastes, the required samples have been collected from 16 sites. The results show a heterogeneous composition of solid wastes: 38 separate components are present, from those, 19 belong to organic categories and 28 of total components accounts for almost 99% of the waste. The mean biogas concentration detected was: 45.5% CH4, 32.4% CO2, 3.1% O2, and 18.9% balance gas (i.e., N2, CO or H2S). The ANOVA procedure clearly corroborated the influence of composition, biodegradability and time of confinement of solid wastes on the production of methane, despite the deficiencies in the final soil layer cover in these sites.
Nanotechnology: An Urgent Need  [PDF]
Francisco M. Marquez Linares
Soft Nanoscience Letters (SNL) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/snl.2013.33008

From the first forecasts and expectations of nanotechnology, in the late 90s, there are many things that have changed and too many expectations not fulfilled. By 2050, the population is expected to exceed 9 billion people. At that time, or even before, the situation in the world can be very difficult if we do not put all the means at our disposal.

Robust H-Filtering for Lipschitz Nonlinear Systems via Multiobjective Optimization  [PDF]
Masoud Abbaszadeh, Horacio J. Marquez
Journal of Signal and Information Processing (JSIP) , 2010, DOI: 10.4236/jsip.2010.11003
Abstract: In this paper, a new method of filtering for Lipschitz nonlinear systems is proposed in the form of an LMI optimization problem. The proposed filter has guaranteed decay rate (exponential convergence) and is robust against unknown exogenous disturbance. In addition, thanks to the linearity of the proposed LMIs in the admissible Lipschitz constant, it can be maximized via LMI optimization. This adds an extra important feature to the observer, robustness against nonlinear uncertainty. Explicit bound on the tolerable nonlinear uncertainty is derived. The new LMI formulation also allows optimizations over the disturbance attenuation level ( cost). Then, the admissible Lipschitz constant and the disturbance attenuation level of the filter are simultaneously optimized through LMI multiobjective optimization.
Santiago de Chile: Ciudad propia, ciudad bárbara
Marquez Francisca
Strategic Dimensions of Neoliberal Globalization: The Exporting of Labor Force and Unequal Exchange  [PDF]
Raul Delgado Wise, Humberto Marquez Covarrubias
Advances in Applied Sociology (AASoci) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/aasoci.2012.22017
Abstract: In addition to environmental degradation and financial speculation, neoliberal globalization has created a complex strategy of capital internationalization led by large multinational corporations that is driving labor costs down to extreme levels. This strategy is based, on the one hand, on the establishment of global commodity chains based on outsourcing schemes and intra-firm trade, which operate in peripheral nations and in the form of enclaves; on the other, it employs international labor migration as a means to lower labor costs in central countries. Both mechanisms comprise a new rung in the international division of labor: the export of labor. This process has led to new forms of unequal exchange that are much more predatory than those involved in the exchange of raw materials for industrial products. This has led to a reintegration of a subordinate periphery to the center, increasing asymmetries between countries and pushing social inequality to unprecedented levels. The purpose of this paper is to empirically and conceptually analyze these fundamental aspects of contemporary global architecture.
Measles in a Neonatal Unit during Epidemic Period in 2011  [PDF]

Advances in Infectious Diseases (AID) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/aid.2012.24020
Abstract: The incident of the measles has diminished in the last decades thanks to the widespread use of the vaccine in The United States and Europe. Nevertheless, recently we are seeing new epidemics of measles due to the lack of coverage in some social areas. Measles during pregnancy is associated with high maternal morbidity and mortality, being a frequent cause of abortion in preterm deliveries. We report two cases of measles attended in the Unit of Neonatology held coinciding with the epidemic lived in this area during the last year.

Abstract: Today computer graphics is used in many aspects, especially to make animation, advertisement and game. We hope this technology can produce realistic pictures which same quality with photo. Metode to get the realistic 3D image is ray tracing. In this journal, make a software which can produce realistic 3D image, especially for reflective and transparent object. Reflective object will modeled can reflect another object surrounding it. And transparent object will modeled can produce caustic effect, that's rays which refract in one area. So that area will appear brighter than area surround it.

Abstract: This article examines Franz Kafka’s The Trial using some of the keys to political thought offered by Javier Roiz and his teachers in the field of rhetoric. Kafka introduced the tragic genre in 20th century literature, reflecting the tensions of the modern citizen that is subject to political institutions that control the destinies and lives of individuals, entering in foro interno and leading to a loss of people’s capacity to judge freely. The masters of rhetoric observe that the formation of the State and citizens’ obedience to laws are two aspects of politics that have deeper philosophical roots than the Cartesian rationalism that dominates in Western Schools, and that the tension between Athens and Jerusalem, between truth and law, is in fact a more complex and richer source of thought.
