Abstract: A case-control study was designed to evaluate the impact of genetic polymorphisms above described on TMD. A total of 229 individuals (69% women) were included at the study; 86 were patients with TMD and 143 were healthy control subjects. Subjects underwent to a clinical examination following the guidelines by the Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (RDC/TMD). Genotyping of 20 Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs), divided in two groups, was performed by multiplex minisequencing preceded by multiplex PCR. Other seven genetic polymorphisms different from SNPs (deletions, insertions, tandem repeat, null genotype) were achieved by a multiplex-PCR. A chi-square test was performed to determine the differences in genotype and allelic frequencies between TMD patients and healthy subjects. To estimate TMD risk, in those polymorphisms that shown significant differences, odds ratio (OR) with a 95% of confidence interval were calculated.Six of the polymorphisms showed statistical associations with TMD. Four of them are related to enzymes of folates metabolism: Allele G of Serine Hydoxymethyltransferase 1 (SHMT1) rs1979277 (OR = 3.99; 95%CI 1.72, 9.25; p = 0.002), allele G of SHMT1 rs638416 (OR = 2.80; 95%CI 1.51, 5.21; p = 0.013), allele T of Methylentetrahydrofolate Dehydrogenase (MTHFD) rs2236225 (OR = 3.09; 95%CI 1.27, 7.50; p = 0.016) and allele A of Methionine Synthase Reductase (MTRR) rs1801394 (OR = 2.35; 95CI 1.10, 5.00; p = 0.037). An inflammatory oxidative stress enzyme, Gluthatione S-Tranferase Mu-1(GSTM1), null allele (OR = 2.21; 95%CI 1.24, 4.36; p = 0.030) and a neurotransmission receptor, Dopamine Receptor D4 (DRD4), long allele of 48 bp-repeat (OR = 3.62; 95%CI 0.76, 17.26; p = 0.161).Some genetic polymorphisms related to folates metabolism, inflammatory oxidative stress, and neurotransmission responses to pain, has been significantly associated to TMD syndromeTemporomandibular joint disorder (TMD) is characterized by a set of symptoms

Ciudadanas y heroinas antifranquistas: morir por la república espa ola
Ana Aguado
Storia delle Donne , 2009,
Abstract: This text raises the analysis of historical context and biographical characterization of several women considered as “republican heroines”. This women died because of their anti-Franco identity and their link with Spanish second Republic; that is, because of their political commitment and their defence of freedom. Women who died because of the same Franco violence during both the civil war and the repression developed after the war and the victory of the revolted. The case of photographer Gerda Taro, Robert Capa’s colleague, is analyzed like this; with another few cases of women who died in the postwar, executed because of their antifascist militancy, like águeda Campos, POUM’s militant executed in 1941, or María Pérez Lacruz, “La Jabalina”, young libertarian executed in 1942.

This paper analyses fertility of the memory as a political event, as it is called by philosopher Alain Badiou, focused to unravel keys and processes of truth to which Transition have not paid attention. Specifically it analyses a novel by Andrés Trapiello, Días y noches (2000), and another one by Suso de Toro, Hombre sin nombre (2006), and their potential to destroy the myth of Civil War and to open the memory to ethic and justice, so that what is forgotten could find its way to be present.

Amnis , 2011, DOI: 10.4000/amnis.1508
Emergence of Bulk CsCl Structure in (CsCl)nCs+ Cluster Ions
Andres Aguado
Physics , 2000, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevB.62.13687
Abstract: The emergence of CsCl bulk structure in (CsCl)nCs+ cluster ions is investigated using a mixed quantum-mechanical/semiempirical theoretical approach. We find that rhombic dodecahedral fragments (with bulk CsCl symmetry) are more stable than rock-salt fragments after the completion of the fifth rhombic dodecahedral atomic shell. From this size (n=184) on, a new set of magic numbers should appear in the experimental mass spectra. We also propose another experimental test for this transition, which explicitely involves the electronic structure of the cluster. Finally, we perform more detailed calculations in the size range n=31--33, where recent experimental investigations have found indications of the presence of rhombic dodecahedral (CsCl)32Cs+ isomers in the cluster beams.
Technical notes on a 2-d lattice O(N) model problem

Physics , 2004,
Abstract: This paper provides a technical companion to M. Aguado and E. Seiler, hep-lat/0406041, in which the fate of perturbation theory in the thermodynamic limit is discussed for the O(N) model on a 2d lattice and different boundary conditions. The techniques used to compute perturbative coefficients are explained, and results for all boundary conditions considered reviewed in detail.
An Ab Initio Study of the Structures and Relative Stabilities of Doubly Charged [(NaCl)m(Na)2]2+ Cluster Ions
Andres Aguado
Physics , 2001,
Abstract: We present ab initio perturbed ion calculations on the structures and relative stabilities of doubly charged [(NaCl)_m(Na)_2]2+ cluster ions. The obtained stabilities show excellent agreement with experimental abundances obtained from mass spectra. Those enhanced stabilities are found to be a consequence of highly compact structures that can be built only for certain values of m. Nearly all magic number clusters can be shown to be constructed in one of the two following ways: (a) by adding tri- or penta-atomic chains to two edges of a perfect neutral (NaCl)_n cuboid, with n=m-2 or n=m-4, respectively; (b) by removing a chloride anion from a perfect singly charged (NaCl)_nNa+ cuboid, with n=m+1.
From entanglement renormalisation to the disentanglement of quantum double models
Miguel Aguado
Physics , 2010, DOI: 10.1016/j.aop.2011.07.007
Abstract: We describe how the entanglement renormalisation approach to topological lattice systems leads to a general procedure for treating the whole spectrum of these models, in which the Hamiltonian is gradually simplified along a parallel simplification of the connectivity of the lattice. We consider the case of Kitaev's quantum double models, both Abelian and non-Abelian, and we obtain a rederivation of the known map of the toric code to two Ising chains; we pay particular attention to the non-Abelian models and discuss their space of states on the torus. Ultimately, the construction is universal for such models and its essential feature, the lattice simplification, may point towards a renormalisation of the metric in continuum theories.
