A Decision Problem of Hotels on Setting Online-Exclusive-Rooms in E-Commerce Age  [PDF]

Due to the rapid development of information technology, customers’ consumption pattern in hotel industry has dramatically changed, and many people book rooms through some professional online platforms. Hotel managers need to redesign their sale channel structures by incorporating online platforms, in order to increase profit. This paper focuses on a revenue maximization problem for a hotel which cooperates with an online platform. Two cooperating forms are investigated and compared. Specifically, one intuitive form is named complete sharing, in which all the hotel rooms are shared with the online platform for booking. The other form is named setting online-exclusive-rooms (OERs), in which the hotel set a fixed quantity of rooms for exclusively booking from the online platform. By building a loss queueing model, this paper finds some properties of the optimal quantity of OERs in the latter form. Factors affecting the selection and how they affect the selection are also investigated.

It puts forward that chain store logistics capability is made up of two aspects: static capability and dynamic capability, develops relevant measurement tool. The scale of the framework is reliable and valid, tested by the sample collected from the 48 domestic chain enterprises.

Abstract: It is of great importance to develop a systematic framework to integrate and coordinate software components to effectively and efficiently accomplish complex hydrological modeling tasks. In this paper, we examine the state-of-art information technologies including service-oriented architecture, and propose a systematic approach based on service-oriented architecture and scientific workflow to investigate the general model coupling problems. A prototype system, MoteWS, based on web services for publishing field measurement data from wireless sensor networks is developed to preliminarily explore and test our proposed architecture. Results and lessons learned are discussed and future recommendations in this direction are provided.

Abstract: The modern information network environment largely changed consumer habits. Hotel Reservation way becomes increasingly diversified. By building the traditional and Internet booking ways’ demand functions which were linear in self- and cross-price effects and the hotel revenue function, we determine the optimal pricing strategy of the hotel’s Internet booking way. The effect of the optimal strategy is also discussed, and numerical simulation verifies that the optimal strategy can greatly improve the hotel revenue. All of the research propositions help hotel managers make deeper understanding of fixed room quantity’s influence on pricing strategies, and provide managers the basis of pricing strategy.
The Symbolic OBDD Algorithm for Finding Optimal Semi-matching in Bipartite Graphs  [PDF]

Abstract: The optimal semi-matching problem is one relaxing form of the maximum cardinality matching problems in bipartite graphs, and finds its applications in load balancing. Ordered binary decision diagram (OBDD) is a canonical form to represent and manipulate Boolean functions efficiently. OBDD-based symbolic algorithms appear to give improved results for large-scale combinatorial optimization problems by searching nodes and edges implicitly. We present novel symbolic OBDD formulation and algorithm for the optimal semi-matching problem in bipartite graphs. The symbolic algorithm is initialized by heuristic searching initial matching and then iterates through generating residual network, building layered network, backward traversing node-disjoint augmenting paths, and updating semi-matching. It does not require explicit enumeration of the nodes and edges, and therefore can handle many complex executions in each step. Our simulations show that symbolic algorithm has better performance, especially on dense and large graphs.

Abstract: The maximum weighted matching problem in bipartite graphs is one of the classic combinatorial optimization problems, and arises in many different applications. Ordered binary decision diagram (OBDD) or algebraic decision diagram (ADD) or variants thereof provides canonical forms to represent and manipulate Boolean functions and pseudo-Boolean functions efficiently. ADD and OBDD-based symbolic algorithms give improved results for large-scale combinatorial optimization problems by searching nodes and edges implicitly. We present novel symbolic ADD formulation and algorithm for maximum weighted matching in bipartite graphs. The symbolic algorithm implements the Hungarian algorithm in the context of ADD and OBDD formulation and manipulations. It begins by setting feasible labelings of nodes and then iterates through a sequence of phases. Each phase is divided into two stages. The first stage is building equality bipartite graphs, and the second one is finding maximum cardinality matching in equality bipartite graph. The second stage iterates through the following steps: greedily searching initial matching, building layered network, backward traversing node-disjoint augmenting paths, updating cardinality matching and building residual network. The symbolic algorithm does not require explicit enumeration of the nodes and edges, and therefore can handle many complex executions in each step. Simulation experiments indicate that symbolic algorithm is competitive with traditional algorithms.

The rod-shaped form of crystalline β-FeOOH (akaganeite) was prepared by the template-free hydrothermal method with urea as the homogeneous precipitant. X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscope and Fourier transform infrared spectrum were used to characterize the resulting products. The degradation of methyl orange (MO) was studied using the prepared nanostructure materials in a photo-Fenton-like process. MO degradation was effectively achieved by hydroxyl radicals that were generated in the heterogeneous catalysis process. Specific surface area of the prepared β-FeOOH was an important factor affecting the efficiency of MO degradation, which depended on the synthesis conditions such as the reaction temperature, the initial concentration of urea and FeCl3.6H2O as well as the n(urea)/n(Fe3+) ratio. The photodegradation efficiencies slightly decreased with the increase of initial pH in the range of 4.5 - 9.5, which indicated the prepared β-FeOOH catalyst can well overcome the drawback of a narrow pH range of homogeneous Fenton reaction. β-FeOOH catalysts loading and H2O

An Integrated Modelling Approach Inmountainous Watershed of Heihe River Basin, Northwest China  [PDF]

An integrated modelling approach is developed to simulate ecological economics processes of mountainous watershed of Heihe river basin, northwest China. The objectives are 1) a hydrologic unit model HLM_HMU was developed; 2) the impacts of LUCC on the hydrological processes based on different scenarios were simulated respectively; and 3) the Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) curve of prohibition grazing is given. The hydrological results show that the observed and simulated data have a good fit, in which the Nash–Sutcliffe efficiency, balance error, and explained variance are 0.69, -0.13, and 0.62, respectively; the model can simulate the majority of peaks well; the source code of Spatial Modelling Environment (SME) needs to be deeply understood to improve the algorithms of interpolation and conflux; the PES result shows that prohibition grazing will occur completely when the price of PES reached to 17.42 yuan, and the increased amount of ecosystem services is 2.13 × 108 m3.The main purpose of this paper is to build a better understanding of developing a meaningful integrated model in the study area to solve its ecological and economic problems.
