Reconfigurable Logistics Information System Based on Soft Components Technology  [PDF]

Abstract: Logistics information system should be reconfigurable, open and extensible to support the total supply chain. Soft com-ponent technology is introduced to design and build the logistics information system oriented to the business demand of kinds of supply chains. When the supply chain is changed, logistics information system organizes all kinds of required logistics resources, by recalling predefined soft components to dynamically configure logistics information system, which can ensure quick respond to the changes of supply chain demand and support dynamic reconfiguration of the logistics information system. In this paper, a method of reconfiguration of logistics information system by using soft component technology is proposed. The key problems to the subject domain are investigated and an illustrative case study is presented.

Abstract: a new smoothing function of the well known fischer-burmeister function is given. based on this new function, a smoothing newton-type method is proposed for solving second-order cone programming. at each iteration, the proposed algorithm solves only one system of linear equations and performs only one line search. this algorithm can start from an arbitrary point and it is q-quadratically convergent under a mild assumption. numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithm. mathematical subject classification: 90c25, 90c30, 90c51, 65k05, 65y20.
Impaired auditory sensor-imotor gating: An animal model of schizophrenia

Abstract: Establishment of animal models of schizophrenia is critical for both understanding the mechanisms underlying this severe mental disease and developing new antipsychotics. This paper starts from the theoretical root of sensory gating, the “protection-of-processing” theory, then thoroughly describes the representative studies over the past decade on the mechanism underlying prepulse inhibition and on those underlying modulation of prepulse inhibition, which is the normal startle suppression caused by the weak stimulus preceding the intense startling stimulus. The main methods for inducing prepulse inhibition deficits in experimental animals include: i) modulations of neuro-transmission that are closely associated with schizophrenia; ii) focal lesions or pharmacological manipulations of brain structures in the cortico-striato-pallido-pontine circuit; and iii) maternal deprivation or social isolation. Six essential topics for studies in modeling schizophrenia are suggested at the last part of this review.
Biological aspects on the cultures of the entomophthoralean fungusPandora delphacis grown on broomcorn millets

Abstract: A novel method was developed to use glutinous broomcorn millets (Panicum miliaceum L.) as solid substrate to make cultures of the entomophthoralean fungusPandora delphacis specifically pathogenic to planthoppers, leafhoppers and aphids. Steamed millets with water content of 45% were inoculated with a liquid culture ofP. delphacis at a ratio of 20% (v/w) and then incubated at 25°C and L:D 12:12. The millets cultured for 3–17 d exhibited high potential for conidial production. The 5-d-old millet culture sporulated most abundantly, discharging up to 17.12 (±1.31) × 104 conidia/ millet. The cultures incubated for 7–11 d also had a satisfactory sporulation capability, yielding 13.00–13.90 × 104 conidia/millet. Compared to 2.32 (±0.34) × 104 conidia discharged from each ofMyzus persicae adults killed byP. delphacis and a ≤60-h duration of sporulation, each of the millets cultured for 5–11 d produced 5.6–7.4 times more conidia with an over doubled duration for conidial discharge (144 h). Among 106M. persicae adults exposed to the shower of conidia discharged from the cultured millets, a total mortality of 69.8% caused byP. delphacis infection was observed within 7 d after exposure, but no death was attributed to the fungal infection in the aphids unexposed. The results indicate that the millet cultures ofP. delphacis are biologically similar to aphid cadavers killed by the same fungus. Due to the superiority of the cultured millets to the cadavers in sporulation potential and duration, the method for making cultures ofP. delphacis on the broomcorn millets is highly recommended for use in study of entomophthoralean fungi for microbial control. This is the first report on the success of the solid culture ofPandora species on cereals.
A Model-driven Approach for Business Constraints Discovery

Abstract: Business constraints restrict the enterprise structure, govern the business behavior and contribute to the business goals. Due to stuff turnover and lack of documentation the knowledge of what constraints exist and how they interact are often poorly defined. This can seriously hinder an organization to understand how the business behaves and operates and to seize new opportunities or improve the business performance. A model-driven discovery approach is proposed to help the user to uncover the business constraints from the enterprise documents. This approach proposes a meta-model to describe the ontological constructs of the business constraints enforcing environment, defines a set of formal templates to document the business constraints to facilitate communication, sharing and reuse, gives a verification algorithm to ensure the completeness and validness of the discovered business constraints, defines the interactions among business constraints and finally proposes an elicitation procedure to efficiently guide the business users to discover the business constraints. Moreover, an example is presented to demonstrate the discovery approach of the business constraints and their usage for decision-making.
A Constraint-centered Two-layered Meta-model For Enterprise Modeling and Analysis

Abstract: Enterprise model is a representation of the knowledge an organization has about itself and of what it would like this knowledge to be. The changing business environment makes a big challenge for the continuous improvement from as-is to to-be of the enterprise. Business constraints are defined as relationships maintained or enforced in the business structure and process to form the most volatile part of the business requirements. The proposed meta-model for enterprise modeling introduces the business constraints as the key element to make the model responsive to the business changes. It consists of two layers including conceptual layer and specification layer where the former provides a foundation for better communication and the latter provides business constraint language and constraint flow language to accommodate the changes and decrease the model maintaining effort. The meta-model forms a precise business as-is description based on which an Analytic Hierarchy Process based what-if analysis mechanism is proposed to analyze the business alternatives to give recommendations for the to-be design. Examples are presented to demonstrate the validness of the meta-model and its what-if analysis mechanism.

Indications of incommensurate spin fluctuations in doped triangular antiferromagnets

Abstract: The incommensurate spin fluctuation of the doped triangular antiferromagnet is studied within the t-J model. It is shown that the commensurate peak near the half-filling is split into six incommensurate peaks in the underdoped and optimally doped regimes. The incommensurability increases with the hole concentration at lower dopings, and saturates at higher dopings. Although the incommensurability is almost energy independent, the weight of these incommensurate peaks decreases with energy and temperature.
$\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric microring laser-absorber

Abstract: The lasing and coherent perfect absorption (CPA) properties of $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric microrings with mixed index and gain gratings, externally coupled to a bus waveguide, are theoretically investigated. For a complex grating at the $\mathcal{PT}$ symmetry breaking point, perfect unidirectional (either clockwise or counterclockwise) laser emission can be realized, however the grating does not discriminate longitudinal modes and CPA can not be simultaneously achieved. Above the grating $\mathcal{PT}$ symmetry breaking point, single mode emission and simultaneous CPA can be obtained, with unbalanced and controllable excitation of clockwise and counterclockwise modes in the ring.
