Energy-Constrained Duty-Cycle Optimization for Wireless Implanted Communication Devices  [PDF]

Abstract: Energy minimization is an important goal in wireless implanted communication devices. In this context, a cross-layer method is used to optimize parameters in different layers of OSI model, but, there are still several challenges affecting the optimization algorithm. The first point is the accurate energy model, and the second point is the suitable channel model exclude traditional free space channel model. In this paper, we establish a system level accurate energy consumption model and build a suitable channel model for implanted communication devices; analysis the energy-constrained duty cycle optimization with a cross-layer method. Simulation results reveal that adaptive duty cycle to minimize the energy consumption of the wireless implanted communication system is implemented based on accurate energy consumption model and channel model. Simulation results show a good performance on energy saving.
Dynamic Stability Analysis and Forecast of Surface Mine Dump  [PDF]

Abstract: Malugou Dump is close to Jinduicheng Molybdenum surfaces mine and affected by blasting vibration all its lifetime, it is meaningful to monitor the blasting vibration and analyze the stability of dump under blasting vibration so as to ensure the safety of the dump. Firstly, dynamic test was done about Malugou Dump. Then dynamic stability analysis of the dump is simulated with Geo-studio software. The results show that the present blasting vibration has little effect on the dump and the safety factor of dump under blasting vibration is about 1.158, which indicates that Malugou Dump is safe. At last, the relationship between safety factor and maximum single explosion charge, the horizontal distance between monitoring points and blast source and elevation difference is obtained by simulating and regressing, which can be used as a guidance of production blasting in Jinduicheng Molybdenum mine.
Forecasting High-Frequency Long Memory Series with Long Periods Using the SARFIMA Model  [PDF]

Abstract: This paper evaluates the efficiency of the SARFIMA model at forecasting high-frequency long memory series with especially long periods. Three other models, the ARFIMA, ARMA and PAR models, are also included to compare their forecasting performances with that of the SARFIMA model. For the artificial SARFIMA series, if the correct parameters are used for estimating and forecasting, the model performs as well as the other three models. However, if the parameters obtained by the WHI estimation are used, the performance of the SARFIMA model falls far behind that of the other models. For the empirical intraday volume series, the SARFIMA model produces the worst performance of all of the models, and the ARFIMA model performs best. The ARMA and PAR models perform very well both for the artificial series and for the intraday volume series. This result indicates that short memory models are competent in forecasting periodic long memory series.

This paper distinguishes the definition of RLMX from related constructs, introduces RLMX’s measurement and concludes outcome variables of RLMX which include voice behavior, affective commitment, psychological contract, self-efficacy, etc. At last, we point out the directions of future researches.

Abstract: This paper presents an accurate and efficient algorithm for solving the generalized elastic net regularization problem with smoothed l0 penalty for recovering sparse vector. Finding the optimal solution to the unconstrained l0 minimization problem in the recovery of compressive sensed signals is an NP-hard problem. We proposed an iterative algorithm to solve this problem. We then prove that the algorithm is convergent based on algebraic methods. The numerical result shows the efficiency and the accuracy of the algorithm.

Abstract:
The EM algorithm is a very popular maximum likelihood estimation method, the iterative algorithm for solving the maximum likelihood estimator when the observation data is the incomplete data, but also is very effective algorithm to estimate the finite mixture model parameters. However, EM algorithm can not guarantee to find the global optimal solution, and often easy to fall into local optimal solution, so it is sensitive to the determination of initial value to iteration. Traditional EM algorithm select the initial value at random, we propose an improved method of selection of initial value. First, we use the k-nearest-neighbor method to delete outliers. Second, use the k-means to initialize the EM algorithm. Compare this method with the original random initial value method, numerical experiments show that the parameter estimation effect of the initialization of the EM algorithm is significantly better than the effect of the original EM algorithm.

Abstract: In this paper we consider the transmission of stored video from a server to a client for medical applications such as, Telemonitoring, to optimize medical quality of service (m-QoS) and to examine how the client buffer space can be used efficiently and effectively towards reducing the rate variability of the compressed variable bit rate (VBR) video. Three basic results are presented. First, we show how to obtain the greatest possible reduction in rate variability when sending stored video to client with a given buffer size. Second, how to reduce high peak data rate of compressed VBR video when a patient is moving/walking very fast in hospital. Third, we evaluate the impact of optimal smoothing algorithm on the network parameters such as, peak-to-mean ratio, standard deviation, delay, jitter, average delay and average jitter to optimize the m-QoS. To resolve these all problems we used optimal smoothing algorithm and show its performance over a set of long MPEG-4 encoded video traces. Simulation results show that m-QoS is optimized by minimizing network metrics.
Solvent effects on photophysical properties of copper and zinc porphyrins

Abstract: The photophysics of Zn(tetraphenylporphyrin,TPP), Zn(tetra-2,4,6-trimethylphenyl porphyrin, TMP), Zn (tetra-(o-dichlorophenyl) porphyrin, TPPCl8), Cu(tetraphenylporphyrin,TPP), Cu(tetra-2,4,6-trimethylphenyl porphyrin,TMP), and Cu(tetra-(o-dichlorophenyl) porphyrin, TPPCl8, TPPCl8) in several solvents have been investigated on steady state and time-resolved spectroscopy. The Cu(TPPCl8 ) is normal and shows no evidence of CT transition in the visible or near UV regions in nonpolar solvent. However, Cu(TPPCl8)shows a blue shift in the absorption spectrum and intramolecular CT bands at absorption spectra in polar solvent, which shows a fluorescence maximum emission at 650 nm and 8.4 ns lifetime. The reason can be attributed to two points. Firstly, the increase of solvent polarity can enlarge outer reorganisational energy, which is favorable to reduce the activation free energy of charger-transfer transition based on Marcus theory of electron transfer. Moreover, the internal heavy-atom effect on Cu(TPPCl8) is encouraging to stabilize the 2T1 state also, which increases the possibility of population to CT band from 2T1 state. This result is in accord with an earlier estimate of a 10 ns lifetime and CT absorption at 640 nm bands for the CT state of Cu (II) octethylporphyrins. Other possible reasons arousing unusual fluorescence like H-bonding, axial ligands, molecular aggregation are excluded.
How to Highlight Characteristics of Traditional Culture in Construction of Teaching Environment of Artistic Designing Major

Abstract: Heritage, learning and borrowing of Chinese traditional culture request for certain characteristics of traditional culture in teaching environment. It emphasizes regionalism and national character of the teaching environment, and realizes a diversified teaching mode. It seems quite important in the whole process of teaching how to inherit the modern teaching method of Chinese traditional culture and construct a teaching environment with Chinese traditional cultural connotation. Learning of the traditional culture calls for a consistent and cut-through process and should be integrated into learning and living of students from the several aspects of the campus culture and atmosphere of teaching environment, so as to make traditional culture essentially promote reform and development of artistic designing teaching mode in higher vocational and junior colleges.
