Study of Noise pollution during Deepawali festival in Kolhapur city of Maharashtra, India

Abstract: Kolhapur city is a district place in the state of Maharashtra with population of 4,93,167. It is one of the emerging industrial and commercial city of Western Maharashtra. Problems of pollution along with noise pollution are increasing with time especially during the festival period. In the present study, continuous monitoring of noise levels was carried out during the three festive days of Deepawali in the month of November, 2009 at ten different sites within the Kolhapur city. On the basis of location these sites were grouped into industrial, commercial, residential and silent zones respectively. The results showed that there is an enhanced pressure of noise at all sites during the festival of light due to bursting of loud noise firecrackers. All the sites under study showed higher sound levelthan the prescribed limits of Central pollution Control Board (CPCB).

Abstract: El ruido producido por el tráfico es función de un gran número de variables, unas propias de las características de la calzada y del entorno por el que discurre, y otras propias de los vehículos. De todas las variables que pueden influir, solo unas pocas están estudiadas en profundidad para ver su relación real con la contaminación acústica. El nivel de presión sonora, Leq, es el índice utilizado para evaluar la contaminación acústica, y la unidad de medida es el decibelio. Esta investigación consiste en la medición de todas las variables presentes en una gran ciudad que pudieran tener alguna influencia en la contaminación acústica, así como el nivel de ruido en la ciudad de Madrid. Todo ello mediante un trabajo de campo en el que se han medido 519 puntos de forma aleatoria, en los que se iban registrando todos estos datos. Noise caused by traffic is the result of several variables; ones inherent to features of roads and the environment it crosses, and some others inherent to vehicles. From all variables which could cause this kind of noise, only few of them have been studied in depth intended to understand its real relationship to acoustic contamination. The level of sound pressure (Leq.) is the index used for evaluating acoustic contamination and the unit of measure is the decibel. This research involves measurement of all variables present in a big city which could have an impact on acoustic contamination, as well as the level of noise in Madrid City. All this conducted through a field work where 519 places were randomly measured and all this data were recorded
A Noise Measurement Study of the Traffic in the Modarres High Way in Tehran

Abstract: We measured the noise caused by Vehicles and its subjective effects in the Modarres high way In Tehran. we examined 143 cases in 11 stations in the mentioned pathway with an accuracy of 95% and a standard deviation of 39%. The noise criteria of Leq and the number of vehicles were determined in dBA. The loudness contours were also measured in some stations to determine the subjective impacts of noise. Then the correlation of the responses of the interviewees with sound pressure level was measured. Based on our findings, decrease of the noise of traffic sources should be considered three levels: the first level is noise reduction at the level of source, e.g. the vehicles;the second is Noise reduction at the traffic level and the third is noise reduction at the level of general activity.
基于FHWA的兰州市道路交通噪声预测模型的建立

Abstract: 结合美国道路交通噪声污染预测模型(FHWA)和国内学者在该方面的大量研究成果,选择兰州市主、次干道共计52条、142个监测点的建模采样数据,并应用统计学原理分析了影响道路交通噪声的各个因子与道路交通噪声的相关性,最终得出了符合兰州市道路交通特征的噪声污染统计预测模型.随后通过兰州市15个监测点的预测与实测对比验证后发现二者具有较高的一致性,此模型可应用在兰州市道路交通噪声污染的预测评价中.

Abstract: This paper combined the forecast model of the noise pollution in the road traffic by USA (FHWA)and the massive research achievement by domestic scholar's in this filed, totally chosen sample date on the established model from the 52 roads and lanes, 142 inspecting sites in Lanzhou city, and analyzed the relevance between the factors influencing the noise in the road traffic and the noise in the road traffic itself based on the principal of statistics, and finally set up the statistical forecasting model of noise pollution in conformity to the road characteristics of Lanzhou city. Then, the forecasting by 15 inspecting sites and the real test are found consistent with each other to a high degree , and this model can be used in the appraisals for noise pollution forecasting in road traffic of Lanzhou city.
