Abstract: The formation of Occupational Therapists has become the subject of analysis and debate in recent decades after several changes in health policies in Brazil, among them the implementation of the National Curriculum Guidelines (NCGs) directing teaching practices in line with the Health Unic System and International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). Given these paradigms, the Occupational Therapy courses passed with several adjustments in their course of pedagogical political projects (PPPs) and their teaching practices. The study’s goal was to characterize the Occupational Therapy courses and analyze their PPPs focusing on changes in the health care model and the inclusion of ICF. The research was exploratory and was conducted through documentary analysis. By 2013 there were 63 occupational therapy courses working in the country, 44 in private institutions and 19 in public, demonstrating a lack of supply in public. The Occupational Therapy courses are still guided by the biomedical model, and the applicability of the ICF as well as the insertion of the biopsychosocial model are incipient in teaching practice.

Creative Education (CE) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ce.2015.617196
Abstract: The goal of this study was to analyze the territorial distribution and describe the characteristics of undergraduate courses in Physical Therapy in Brazil. Data collection was performed using the virtual system of the Ministry of Education (emec.mec.gov.br) where we sought the following information: name of the institution, state, course load, note the National Examination Performance Students (NEPS), course concept (CC) and other relevant information (steps, extinction, among others). They found 601 Physical Therapy courses. The results show that there is a higher concentration of Physical Therapy courses in the Southeast, the workload and payment time cater to Resolution No. 4 of 6 April 2009 the Ministry of Education (MEC) and also that most courses have satisfactory grades in evaluation of MEC. It is noteworthy that most of the courses are still without concept, like, have an insufficient sample in NEPS or do not complete the evaluation cycle of the National Assessment System of Higher Education in Brazil.

Revista Brasileira de Saúde e Produ??o Animal , 2008,
Abstract: The aim with this study was to verify the effect of the addition of enzymatic complex levels in corn-soybean meal diets on piglet serum parameters and intestinal morphology at 49-day post-weaning. Forty homogeneous male and female piglets, from the same lineage, were distributed in a randomized blocks design, with four treatments and five replicates. Two piglets (male and female) were considered as an experimental unit. The treatments were levels of enzymatic complex: 0, 0.02 (recommended by the manufacturer), 0.04 and 0.06%. Pigs were slaughtered at 70 days old. There was a reduction (P <0.05) in urea and total protein content in blood serum of pigs receiving enzymatic supplementation. The animals that consumed diets with enzyme addition presented a linear increase (P <0.05) on villus heigh (HV) at duodenum segment, linear reduction (P <0.05) on crypt depth (CD) of jejunum and better HV/CD ratio (P <0.05) in jejunum and ileum segments.

Abstract: The stomatognathic system (SS) is a functional unit of the body that depends on the balance of several tissues. It consists of various structures, including the temporomandibular joint. Temporomandibular disorder (TMD) can occur due to alterations in the SS. The Fonseca Anamnestic Index (FAI) is a scale used to evaluate and to characterize the TMD Type: no DTM, mild, moderate and severe. The aim is to evaluate the prevalence of signs and symptoms related to TMD in university students of the Parque das Rosas Campus, Universidade Estácio de Sá that practice sports. This investigation was approved (CAAE number 325678413.9.0000.5284). Two hundred eighth students (110 male and 98 female, aged 19 - 35 years) accepted to be in this investigation. All the participants answered a General Questionnaire (GQ) and the FAI. The GQ had questions about the age, sex and the presence of TMD. The FAI was used. A statistical difference (p > 0.05) was not found about the presence of TMD. Among the female, an elevated number of the students with signal or symptoms related to the temporomandibular with statistic significance (p < 0.05) was observed. In the population without TMD, the prevalence of this disorder is higher between male than female. Considering the FAI, among the female students, there is a prevalence of the Mild Type. Considering the evaluation of the type of TMD among the male and female students no difference was found between male and female to the types mild and moderate, however, the prevalence of the severe Type is higher in female than in male with statistical significance. In conclusion, TMD is a relevant clinical condition with an important prevalence among the university students. Moreover, the type of the TMD could be considered due to prevalence of the Type Severe among the women.

Niveles de sacarosa en el enraizamiento in vitro y aclimatización ex vitro de plántulas del portainjerto de vid R110 (vitis rupestris' vitis berlandieri)
Paz da Silva,Raquel; Villegas Monter,ángel;
Interciencia , 2009,
Abstract: sucrose concentration and container gas exchange are factors that influence the characteristics of micropropagated and acclimatized plantlets. apical buds of the rootstock of the r110 (vitis rupestris′vitis berlandieri) grapevine were cultivated in media containing 0, 43.8, 87.6, 131.4, and 175.2mm sucrose, in containers with or without complementary gas exchange. after 13 days of growth, the plantlets were transplanted and placed in a greenhouse, where they remained for nine weeks. percentage of rooting, number and length of the roots, bud size, weight of fresh material and water content in vitro, all decreased with the increase in the concentration of sucrose, the change being more pronounced in containers with gas exchange. in the acclimatization stage, sucrose concentration and type of container did not influence the number and length of the roots. however, bud size, number of leaves, and water content were lower in the plantlets growing with 175.2mm sucrose in containers with gas exchange. the survival rate was 100% after nine weeks with 43.8mm of sucrose in containers without exchange, and with 43.8 and 87.6mm in containers with gaseous exchange.
Powdery mildew of ornamental species caused by Oidiopsis haplophylli in Brazil
Reis, Ailton;Boiteux, Leonardo Silva;Paz-Lima, Milton Luiz;
Summa Phytopathologica , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-54052007000400015
Abstract: oidiopsis haplophylli (syn. oidiopsis sicula) was identified as the causal agent of powdery mildew diseases occurring on five ornamental species in brazil. this disease was observed in plastic house-grown lisianthus (eustoma grandiflorum: gentianaceae), in nasturtium (tropaeolum majus: tropaeolaceae) cultivated under open field conditions and in greenhouse-grown calla lily (zantedeschia aethiopica: araceae), impatiens (impatiens balsamina: balsaminaceae) and balloon plant (asclepias physocarpa: asclepiadaceae). typical disease symptoms consisted of chlorotic areas on the upper leaf surface corresponding to a fungal colony in the abaxial surface. with the disease progression, these chlorotic areas eventually turned to necrotic (brown) lesions. fungi morphology on all hosts was similar to that described for the imperfect stage of leveillula taurica (o. haplophylli). the koch's postulates were fulfilled by inoculating symptom-free plants via leaf-to-leaf contact with fungal colonies. additional inoculations using an isolate of o. haplophylli from sweet pepper (capsicum annuum) demonstrated that it is pathogenic to all five species belonging to distinct botanical families, indicating lack of host specialization. this is the first formal report of a powdery mildew disease on lisianthus, calla lilly, impatiens and nasturtium in brazil. it is, to our knowledge, the first report of o. haplophyllii infecting a. physocarpa, extending the host range of this atypical powdery mildew-inducing fungus. this disease might become important on these ornamental crops especially in protected cultivation and also under field conditions in hot and dry areas of brazil.

Pain Studies and Treatment (PST) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/pst.2017.53003
Abstract: Purpose: The adaptation of BPI-B into North/Northeast of Brazil. The purpose of this study was the translation and adaptation of the BPI to Portuguese language, as spoken in Brazil, aiming at its posterior usage to measure both intensity and interference of pain in cancer patients’ life. Methods: The BPI-B was developed from the original BPI, using back-translation and committee review. The Back Translation was compared to the original BPI, as a result, the North/Northeast Brazilian version proved to have the same goals, and is similar to other current versions, observing its psychometrics properties. The inventory presented a final sample of 475 patients, whose average age was 54.37 years old (DP = 14.56), most female (58.9%). One hundred ninety-six patients in elementary school took part. It had its objective to group multiple indicators that responded to validation, precision and parsimony criteria. The patients answered the BPI at the very moment they were diagnosed as cancer cases. All of them were above 18 years old and they were also undergoing treatment at Cancer Ambulatory in a Hospital in Ceará, Brazil. The retest was carried, after about a month of the first application. In order to verify the reliability of inventory adaptation, the exploratory factorial analysis was used as the oblique rotation axis. Results: Exploratory factor analysis confirmed two underlying dimensions, pain severity, and pain interference, with Cronbach’s α 0.833 and 0.733, respectively. Conclusion: A proposition of a north/northeast Brazilian version of BPI turned out to be adequate, gathering evidences of adaptation and internal consistency similar to already validated versions.
