Fatigue Strength of Laser Welded Joints of PP and PC Components  [PDF]

Abstract: The paper describes research of fatigue properties of laser welded joints of PP and PC reinforced composites. Welded specimens were tested on dynamic testing machine to obtain data for fatigue strength and fatigue life evaluation. Materials used for testing were PP and PC plastics filled with various amounts of glass fibers. Nine combinations of PP specimens and 6 combinations of PC specimens were welded and loaded on testing machine by fluctuating stress with constant stress ratio. Presented results include fatigue strength of welded joints and also the S-N curves based on experimental data and theory are derived.

Abstract: V príspevku analyzujeme zdroje osobnej teórie alebo reprezentácie úspechu v kontexte vyvinového cyklu a prostredia koly. Dáta získané z otvorenych otázok zameranych na vnímanie úspechu u iakov star ieho kolského veku (n=82) a vysoko kolákov (n=45) poukázali na vyznamny vplyv kolského prostredia na reprezentáciu úspechu a sú asne na rozdiely v obraze úspechu v ranej a neskorej adolescencii.

Abstract: VYCHODISKA: Analyzou psychologickych p edpoklad pro vytrvalostní sporty se zabyvají sportovní i klini tí psychologové ji několik desítek let. Z vybranych studií provedenych u vytrvalostních víceboja a vytrvalc obecně (Nideffer, 1995; Nideffer & Bond, 1989; Nideffer & Bond, 1998; Nideffer, 2000; Hátlová, 2000 a dal í) vyplyvá, e jedním z nejd le itěj ích psychologickych p edpoklad pro maximální vykon je schopnost koncentrace pozornosti. CíLE: Cílem bylo zji tění rozdíl v koncentraci pozornosti extrémně vytrvalostně zatě ovanych adolescent . Vyzkum byl realizován na 57 triatlonistech ve věku 15–22 let za azenych do sportovních center mláde e R, rozdělenych do skupin dle jednotlivych závodních kategorií (15–17 a 18–22). P edpokládali jsme tedy, e je statisticky a věcně vyznamny rozdíl v hodnotách namě enych v testech koncentrace pozornosti mezi dorostenci (15–17 let) a juniory a K23 (18–22 let). METODIKA: Pou ili jsme standardizované psychodiagnostické testy (Jirásk v íselny tverec, íselny obdélník, Bourdon v test a Disjunk ní reak ní as II). Pro porovnání rozdíl vysledk dvou skupin triatlonist jsme na základě vysledk F-testu pou ili t-test pro nezávislé vyběry s rovností rozptyl . Ově ení faktorové validity jsme provedli pomocí konfirmativní faktorové analyzy. Pro vypracování standard vykon v jednotlivych testech pro obě věkové kategorie jsme vysledky p evedli na standardizované hodnoty (T-body), které názorněji ukazují intra a interindividuální rozdíly vzhledem k ur enému modelu – normě. VYSLEDKY: Vysledky testování ukázaly, e skupina star ích triatlonist vykazuje vyznamně vy í schopnost koncentrace pozornosti. Rozdíly byly u v ech zji ovanych diagnostik statisticky vyznamné (Jirásk v test p ed vykonem t = 2,127, p = 0,037, ω2 = 0,062; Jirásk v test po vykonu t = 2,970, p = 0,004, ω2 = 0,123; íselny obdélník t = –3,307, p = 0,002, ω2 = 0,150; Bourdon v test t = –3,331, p = 0,002, ω2 = 0,150; Disjunk ní test t = 4,95, p = 6,79*10–6, ω2 = 0,296). Na základě ově ení validity testové baterie (Goodness of Fit Index [GFI] = 0.960, [RMR] = 0.042) uvádíme standardy pro obě věkové kategorie u v ech ově ovanych test . Bioinformatic Analysis of Prophage Endolysins and Endolysin-Like Genes from the Order Lactobacillales

Abstract: Endolysins belonging to the group of peptigoglycan hydrolases, which are able to cleave peptidoglycan in bacterial cell walls, become an extensively studied group of enzymes. Thanks to their narrow target specificity and low probability of resistance they are considered to be an appropriate alternative to conventional antibiotics. The present paper concerns the occurrence of endolysin and endolysin-like genes in genomes of bacteria belonging to the order Lactobacillales. Using bioinformatic programmes we compared and analysed protein sequences of catalytic and cell wall binding (CWB) domains of these enzymes, their preferred combinations, their phylogenetic relationship and potential occurence of natural "domain shuffling". The existence of this phenomenon in selected group of enzymes was confirmed only in limited range, so we assume that the natural trend is the distribution of "well-tried" combinations of catalytic and CWB domains of endolysin genes as a whole.
CEREALS AS BASIS OF PREVENTING NUTRITION AGAINST OBESITY

Abstract: Still more alarming obesity studies show in fact that it is largely due to incorrect diet and lifestyle. For suitable alternative for prevention of this disease are now considered cereal foods, mainly based on increased fiber content. The importance of dietary fiber for human organism consist primarily in its protective function before civilization diseases. It has beneficial effects on digestive physiology and it is therefore an important factor in the prevention of obesity, but also other diseases. Fiber consumption in developed countries is low and it is below the lower limit of the recommended dose. Slovaks per day take only 10-12 g of fiber, which represents only 47% of the recommended dose. Recent large-scale epidemiological studies have shown that regular consumption of wholegrain cereals can reduce the risk of heart disease and certain cancers by 30 percent. One of the factors that increase the functionality of foods is the so-called indigestible resistant starch. For its the positive impact on the physiology of digestion is referred to as prebiotics new generation of dietary fiber. The increasing availability of tasty, whole grain products rich in fiber could be health benefits.
Antifungal Activity of Salicylanilides and Their Esters with 4-(Trifluoromethyl)benzoic Acid

Abstract: Searching for novel antimicrobial agents still represents a current topic in medicinal chemistry. In this study, the synthesis and analytical data of eighteen salicylanilide esters with 4-(trifluoromethyl)benzoic acid are presented. They were assayed in vitro as potential antimycotic agents against eight fungal strains, along with their parent salicylanilides. The antifungal activity of the presented derivatives was not uniform and moulds showed a higher susceptibility with minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) 3 0.49 μmol/L than yeasts (MIC 3 1.95 μmol/L). However, it was not possible to evaluate a range of 4-(trifluoromethyl)benzoates due to their low solubility. In general, the most active salicylanilide was N-(4-bromophenyl)-4-chloro-2-hydroxybenzamide and among esters, the corresponding 2-(4-bromophenylcarbamoyl)-5-chlorophenyl 4-(trifluoromethyl) benzoate exhibited the lowest MIC of 0.49 μmol/L. However, the esterification of salicylanilides by 4-(trifluoromethyl)benzoic acid did not result unequivocally in a higher antifungal potency.
Tobacco, alcohol and illegal substances: experiences and attitudes among Italian university students

Abstract: objective: the purpose of this research was to assess the prevalence of addictive drug use among students of university of camerino (italy) and to verify aspects related to substance use in this population. methods: the survey was carried out in the form of anonymous questionnaires completed by 345 participants. chi-square test was used for statistic evaluation. results: most students have experienced legal addictive substances: 28.0 % of participants smoke cigarettes regularly and 23.2 % of respondents have admitted regular alcohol consumption. in addition, 50.4 % of subjects have already tried an illegal drug; the most used substance was cannabis (46.7 %), followed by cocaine (13.3 %). conclusion: our results confirmed the increased experimental use of cannabis among young people in europe and showed a long-term use of drugs, particularly cocaine, among university students.
Contribution of temporal dominance of sensations method to the sensory description of taste properties of commercial green tea brands

Abstract: This paper aims to investigate the most dominant taste attributes of green tea samples in panelists perception over time. In order to assess the samples, a brand new method of sensory evaluation called Temporal Dominance of Sensations“ was used. The five commercial green tea brands were evaluated by eight trained panelists (students). For each sample of green tea, curves of the dominance of each attribute over time were computed. The TDS curves provided information about the sequence of attributes that were dominant during degustation. This methodology was useful to characterize taste properties of green tea samples. doi:10.5219/274
DI-2-ETHYLHEXYL PHTHALATE AND DI-N-BUTYL PHTHALATE IN TISSUES OF COMMON CARP (Cyprinus Carpio L.) AFTER HARVEST AND AFTER STORAGE IN FISH STORAGE TANKS

Abstract: The aim of the present study was to determine whether the influence of fish pond and fish storage tank conditions change the content of phthalic acid esters (di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP) and di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP)) in the carcass of the Common carp. Samples obtained from the autumn harvest of two fish ponds (R1 and R2) in 2007 and 2010 from the South Moravia and after a seven-week-long storage in fish storage tanks were analyzed. It was found that in the samples (2007) from both fish ponds after storage in fish storage tanks the content of DBP increased, for R1 from 0.56±0.39 mg.kg-1 to 0.83±0.26 mg.kg-1 and for R2 from 0.31±0.08 mg.kg-1 to 0.35± 0.11 mg.kg-1of original weight. Concerning DEHP, in samples obtained from the fish pond R1 after storage in fish storage tanks the mean concentration increased from 0.26±0.23 mg.kg-1 to 0.72±0.16 mg.kg-1 and from R2 it decreased from 0.71±0.17 mg.kg-1 to 0.12±0.18 mg.kg-1 of original weight. The experiment conducted in 2010 should have confirmed or disconfirm this trend. The average value of the DBP contents for R1 increased slightly from 0.15±0.04 mg.kg-1 after harvest to 0.18±0.05 mg.kg-1 of original weight after the storage in fish storage tank and for R2 from 0.09±0.03 mg.kg-1 after harvest to 0.16±0.06 mg.kg-1 of original weight after storage in fish storage tank. Similarly, an increasing tendency also occurred for DEHP, for R1 the value of 0.08±0.02 mg.kg-1 after harvesting increased to 0.14±0.04 mg.kg-1 of original weight after storage in fish storage tank and for R2 from 0.09±0.03 mg.kg-1 after harvesting to 0.16±0.06 mg.kg-1 after storage in fish storage tank. For all samples in both lakes in 2007 as well as in 2010 both phthalates showed slightly increasing trend except for DEHP in samples collected in 2007 from the fish pond R2.
Genomic Porosity between Invasive Chondrostoma nasus and Endangered Endemic Parachondrostoma toxostoma (Cyprinidae): The Evolution of MHC IIB Genes

Abstract: Two cyprinid species, Parachondrostoma toxostoma, an endemic threatened species, and Chondrostoma nasus, an invasive species, live in sympatry in southern France and form two sympatric zones where the presence of intergeneric hybrids is reported. To estimate the potential threat to endemic species linked to the introduction of invasive species, we focused on the DAB genes (functional MHC IIB genes) because of their adaptive significance and role in parasite resistance. More specifically, we investigated (1) the variability of MHC IIB genes, (2) the selection pattern shaping MHC polymorphism, and (3) the extent to which trans-species evolution and intergeneric hybridization affect MHC polymorphism. In sympatric areas, the native species has more diversified MHC IIB genes when compared to the invasive species, probably resulting from the different origins and dispersal of both species. A similar level of MHC polymorphism was found at population level in both species, suggesting similar mechanisms generating MHC diversity. In contrast, a higher number of DAB-like alleles per specimen were found in invasive species. Invasive species tended to express the alleles of two DAB lineages, whilst native species tended to express the alleles of only the DAB3 lineage. Hybrids have a pattern of MHC expression intermediate between both species. Whilst positive selection acting on peptide binding sites (PBS) was demonstrated in both species, a slightly higher number of positively selected sites were identified in C. nasus, which could result from parasite-mediated selection. Bayesian clustering analysis revealed a similar pattern of structuring for the genetic variation when using microsatellites or the MHC approach. We confirmed the importance of trans-species evolution for MHC polymorphism. In addition, we demonstrated bidirectional gene flow for MHC IIB genes in sympatric areas. The positive significant correlation between MHC and microsatellites suggests that demographic factors may contribute to MHC variation on a short time scale.
