Cavalcanti, Laise de Holanda;Fortes, Silvana Túlio;
Acta Botanica Brasilica , 1994, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-33061994000100007
Abstract: a survey on myxomycetes was made in the woods of lagoa do peri and lagoa da concei??o in 1990, considering the absence of reports of this kind for the city of florianópolis, when the following species were registered: lycogala exiguum morg. (enteridiaceae); cribraria languescem rex, c. vulgaris schr. (cribrariaceae); arcyria cinerea (bull.) pers. hemitrichia serpula (scop.) rost., h. calyculata (speg.) fair and hemitrichia sp (trichiaceae); stemonitis fusca roth, and s. smithii macbr. (stemonitaceae). exicates are deposited at the herbarium ufp. lycogala exiguum is noted for the first time in the state of santa catarina, cribraria languescem in the south and cribraria vulgaris in brazil. the survey raises up the number of registers refered to the state of santa catarina to 47 species. a review of the studies on this group of organisms in santa catarina is given as well as the area where each species occur in this state and in different regions of brazil.
Myxomycetes on Palm Trees: Species on Attalea speciosa Mart. ex Spreng  [PDF]
Marcia Percília Moura Parente, Laise de Holanda Cavalcanti
Advances in Microbiology (AiM) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/aim.2013.38A004

Attalea speciosa Mart. ex Spreng (baba?u) is a palm tree of considerable economic importance in Brazil, especially in the northeast portion of the country. The myxobiota of baba?u was studied by examining living and dead trunks, leaves, inflorescences and fallen fruits on the ground during the wet season at the Teresina Park, Piauí State, Brazil. Taxonomic diversity, species diversity, frequency of occurrence, abundance and constancy of each species were determined in two areas of deciduous mixed forest. The taxonomic diversity of the myxobiota was similar, with values of 1.5 and 1.6 for the two areas. The highest frequency of occurrence value was recorded for the spathe (50% -54%), followed by the petiole (18% -19%) and leaf sheath (4% -19%). Myxomycetes were absent on fallen fruits and rare on the leaf blade (6%) and dead (9%) or living (2%) trunks. Hemitrichia serpula (Scop.) Rostaf. ex Lister, Perichaena depressa Lib., Arcyria cinerea (Bull.) Pers. and H. calyculata (Speg.) M. L. Farr were the species characterized by the highest levels of constancy, abundance and frequency. Cribraria microcarpa (Schrad.) Pers. and Stemonitopsis typhina (F. H. Wigg.) Nann.-Bremek. were occasionally present. Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa (Mull.) T. Macbr.,

Acta Botanica Brasilica , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-33062000000100007
Abstract: from december, 1994 to september, 1995, seven collecting trips (2-4 days each) were carried out in the "parque nacional de sete cidades" (4o5'-4o15's, 41o30"-41o40'w, 450m alt.), piripiri, piauí state, brazil, in order to collect myxomycetes fruiting bodies on carnauba palm trees (coperniciaprunifera (miller) h. e. moore), established in a place called "lagoa seca" (savanna-like stunted vegetation). the samples were herborized and included in the ufp herbarium (universidade federal de pernambuco, recife, pe) and the tepb herbarium (universidade federal do piauí, teresina, pi). in relation to the substrate, the "carnaubeira" showed a high incidence of myxomycetes (70%) on living stipitis and dead leaves. sixteen species belonging to ceratiomyxaceae (ceratiomyxa lsp.), didymiaceae (diachea lsp., didymium 2spp.), physaraceae (craterium lsp., physarum 4spp.), trichiaceae (arcyria 2spp.) and stemonitaceae (comatricha 3spp., macbrideola lsp., stemonitis lsp.), were registered. ceratiomyxaceae, represented by ceratiomyxa fruticulosa (mull.) macbr., is a new record for piauí state.

Cavalcanti, Laise de Holanda;Mobin, Mitra;
Acta Botanica Brasilica , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-33062001000100013
Abstract: a new variety of hemitrichia serpula (scop.) rost. from brazil, h. serpula var. piauiensis cavalcanti & mobin, is described and illustrated. the new taxon has a somewhat less spinulose capillitium, with short and scattered spines; spores are finely reticulate , with well-defined meshes. the type is deposited in the herbarium ufp, myxomycete collection, federal university of pernambuco (recife, pernambuco state, brazil). a key to the three varieties of the species is presented as well.

Alves, Maria Helena;Cavalcanti, Laise de Holanda;
Acta Botanica Brasilica , 1996, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-33061996000100001
Abstract: palm trees are specialized ecossystems which hosts a wide variety of organisms, including myxomycetes. this paper reports twelve species of myxomycetes found on dead leaves, spathes and stipitis of acrocomia intumescens drude, copernicea prunifera (mill.) h. e. moore, mauritia flexuosa mart., and orbygnia phalerata mart. the collecting area is located in the municipality crato of ceará state, northeastern brazil (7o 30'00" s, 39o 00' 00" w, 400-1200 m altitude). samples were taken at random and myxomycetes fructifications were searched on dead and living organs of palm trees. exsiccatae have been deposited in the herbarium ufp (department of botany, federal university of pernambuco, recife-pe, brazil). the species registered belong to the genera ceratiomyxa (1), dictydium (1), arcyria (1), hemitrichia (1), badhamia (1), fuligo (1), physarum (3), stemonitis (2) and comatricha (1). ceratiomyxa fruticulosa (miill.) macbr., stemonitis pallida win, comatricha typhoides (bull.) rost. and physarum stellatum (mass.) mart, are reported for the first time on this substrate. this study raises to 35 the number of myxomycetes species occurring on palm trees substrates.

Albuquerque, Ulysses Paulino de;Andrade, Laise de Holanda Cavalcanti;
Acta Botanica Brasilica , 2002, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-33062002000300004
Abstract: in this paper we synthesized information on the traditional botanical knowledge of a rural community in the municipal district of alagoinha, pernambuco state, as part of an ethnobotanical project developed in the area. we used a variety of research methods, including floristic surveys in agroforestry systems (homegardens) and in the natural vegetation. people identify and use over 108 plant species distributed in 10 categories: food, medicinal, wood (for fuel, construction etc), domestic use (technology), forage, poison, insect repellent, ornamental, shade and mystic. this work discusses the ways by which the forest resources are used and managed, and the implications for conservation of the caatinga.
