Mesoporous Metal-Containing Carbon Nitrides for Improved Photocatalytic Activities

Abstract: Graphitic carbon nitrides (g-C3N4) have attracted increasing interest due to their unusual properties and promising applications in water splitting, heterogeneous catalysis, and organic contaminant degradation. In this study, a new method was developed for the synthesis of mesoporous Fe contained g-C3N4 (m-Fe-C3N4) photocatalyst by using SiO2 nanoparticles as hard template and dicyandiamide as precursor. The physicochemical properties of m-Fe-C3N4 were thoroughly investigated. The XRD and XPS results indicated that Fe was strongly coordinated with the g-C3N4 matrix and that the doping and mesoporous structure partially deteriorated its crystalline structure. The UV-visible absorption spectra revealed that m-Fe-C3N4 with a unique electronic structure displays an increased band gap in combination with a slightly reduced absorbance, implying that mesoporous structure modified the electronic properties of g-Fe-C3N4. The photocatalytic activity of m-Fe-C3N4 for photodegradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) was much higher than that of g-Fe-C3N4, clearly demonstrating porous structure positive effect. 1. Introduction Carbon nitride has been widely regarded as the most promising candidate to complement carbon in materials applications. Among various carbon nitride compounds, graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) is the most stable allotrope, which has attracted much attention for its potential application in splitting water, decomposing organic pollutants, and photosynthesis under visible light [1–5]. The polymeric g-C3N4 material contains graphitic stacking of C3N4 layers, which are constructed from tri-s-triazine units connected by planar amino groups [2, 6]. To further improve the performance of g-C3N4, many methods such as introducing functional atoms (B, F, S, P, etc.), controlling shape, and oxidation reaction have been used for its modification [1, 7–10]. One important way to improve its light utilization efficiency is to reduce the band gap and extend the light absorption range. Metal element dopants are usually introduced to prepare functional organic-metal hybrid material based on g-C3N4. Wang et al. firstly reported the synthesis of metal (Fe3+)-containing carbon nitride compounds using dicyandiamide and metal chloride as precursors, and such synthesized carbon nitride showed high photocatalytic activities for the degradation of various organic dyes [11]. g-C3N4 photocatalyst was also modified with other transition metal elements (Co, Ni, Mn, Cu [12], or Zn [13]) to obtain the high photocatalytic activity and good stability. Integration Pollution Index (IPI) Method for Evaluation of Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) Pollution in Soil

Abstract: An integration pollutant index (IPI) evaluation method with proportional addition of toxicity pollution sub-index (TPI), persistence pollution sub-index (PPI), and bio-accumulation pollution sub-indexes (BPI) for polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) pollution in soil was set up for the first time by referring to the conception of IPI and introducing the standard value series of total PCBs employed by national guideline and standards office, Canada. The relevant expressions for pollution indexes were defined; three transformation coefficients for PCBs toxicity (Ti), persistence (Pi), and bio-accumulation (Bi) pollution were apportioned, too. Then, by the application of the evaluation method, the IPIs for PCBs pollution evaluations in 22 soil sample stations in the Yellow River Delta and a background sample were accomplished successfully, the quantification results were in range of 1.1-531.7, the qualification result was that the Yellow River Delta was slightly polluted by PCBs. This integrated evaluation model considered the characteristic differences between PCBs congeners and was more scientifical and comprehensive than current method, and should be employed in evaluations of persistent organic pollutants (POPs).

Abstract: The leaf epidermis of 9 species and 1 variety in Ulmus L. has been observed by scanning electronic microscope. The difference of the structure of leaf epidermis in Ulmus L. is significant and is useful for the classiffication of U1mus L. The main differences include the morphology of leaf epidermis cell, the type of hair and the structure of stomata.

An Improved Time Domain Finite Element-Boundary Integral Scheme for Electromagnetic Scattering from 3-D Objects

Abstract: This paper proposes an improved time domain finite element-boundary integral scheme for 3-D scattering from arbitraryshaped objects. The proposed scheme, which uses only one auxiliary boundary, is more efficient than the one reported in the literature that uses two auxiliary boundaries. While preserving the sparseness and symmetry of the finite element matrices, the proposed scheme reduces the computational domain for the finite elements. A major difficulty, here, is the treatment of the singularity of Green's function arising from this scheme. To overcome this problem, the contribution of singular point is computed analytically, and equivalent transformation technique is also included to reduce the integrals' singularity. And, a remedy is presented for the numerical error encountered in the course of the equivalent transformation, which essentially may be attributed to the inherent routine with the time domain finite element-boundary integral method. The validity and accuracy of the hybrid scheme are verified by numerical tests.
Clinical application of sodium hyaluronate,levarterenol and indicarmine solution in endoscopic submucosal dissection

Abstract: Objective To assess the clinical value of sodium hyaluronate,levarterenol and indicarmine solution used in endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD).Methods Sixteen patients were involved in present study who were diagnosed as precancerous lesion or submucosal tumor in digestive tract by chromoendoscopy and endoscopic ultrasonography from Nov,2010 to Feb,2011 at General Hospital of Shenyang Command.The injected solution was mixed with 0.2% indicarmine 10ml,levarterenol 10mg,sodium hyaluronate 20mg,and 0.9% normal saline 200ml.The liquid pad was formed under the submucosal layer by the injection of the mixture.Hybrid knife was employed to perform the injection,cutting and coagulation with no interruption during the procedure of ESD.Satisfactory degree was assessed,and the total solution volume,success rate,bleeding rate,perforation rate,operation duration,and length of stay in hospital were recorded.The recurrence and healing condition were observed at following-up.Results The length of lesion was 0.8~4.5cm with mean of 2.2cm.The operation duration was 45~240 min with an mean time of 95.4 min.The mean dosage of the mixed solution for submucosal injection was 102.4ml.Success rate of endoscopic submucosal dissection was 87.5%.The satisfactory degree was high.Intractable bleeding occurred in 2 cases with lateral spreading tumor(LST) during the procedure,but it was controlled after high temperature coagulation without producing perforation.The dissection surface was covered by aluminum phosphate gel in all cases,and metal clips were applied in some cases for closure.The mean length of stay in hospital after ESD was 3.8 days.Conclusions The mixture of sodium hyaluronate,levarterenol,indicarmine and normal saline,when used for submucosal injection in ESD,is safe and satisfactory.

Abstract: Complexation combined with supercritical fluid extraction was used to extract Cu 2 in this study. The effects of pressure, temperature, volume of CO 2 on the efficiency of extraction were systematically investigated. At the optimum condition a 57.32% recovery was achieved. Addition of suitable amount of methanol(v/v=5%) to the supercritical CO 2 can increase in the extraction of Cu 2 (72.69%, RSD =2.12%, n =3). And the recovery can further increase in the presence of non ionic surfactant Triton X 100 because of its function of solubilization. Surfactant was first used in the extraction of metal ions in the present study, and the results are satisfied (90.52%, RSD =2.20%, n =3).
