Security V/S Qos for LTE Authentication and Key Agreement Protocol

Abstract: Protocol and technology convergence, the core of near future communication, will soon be forming theinteroperating heterogeneous networks. Attaining a strict secure authentication without risking the QoSperformance and call success rates is a major concern when it comes to wireless heterogeneousnetworks. In order to achieve this, a generic, fast and secure, Authentication and Key Agreement protocolis to be used; a version of which is to be implemented between each two technologies. In this research,different existing EPS-EPS AKA protocols will be compared with our proposed protocol EC-AKA(Ensure Confidentiality Authentication and Key Agreement) based on security, cost effectiveness,signaling overhead, delay and performance. It is proven that EC-AKA is the exclusive protocol satisfyingthe New Generation Network’s KPIs and it will be promoted as the target generic AKA protocol inheterogeneous networks.

Abstract: This paper presents virtual clusters based proportional fairness and resource allocation scheme for Localized Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (L-SC-FDMA). L-SC-FDMA has been selected as the uplink transmission scheme in 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) due to its low Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) over OFDMA in general and high rate-sum capacity over Interleaved SC-FDMA in particular. Virtual cluster-based proportional fairness (VCPF) scheduler exploits the link adaptation information available at MAC layer to form virtual clusters. The distributed proportional fairness scheduler ensures a minimum throughput for all users in the coverage area by assigning contiguous RBs, proportional to the throughput and the number of users in a particular cluster or group. Simulations have been performed using practical scenario of uniformly distributed users in Rayleigh faded coverage area and design formulas have been devised for network planning to get the best possible fairness with promising level of quality of service (QoS).
Coexistence Evaluation of LTE with Active Antenna System  [PDF]

Abstract: Due to the new radio architecture of Active Antenna System (AAS), the LTE BS equipped with AAS will have more flexible RF planning than that equipped with passive antenna. However, the new RF characteristic of AAS will have potential impacts on the existing BS RF requirements, which is imperative to be evaluated. In this paper, general antenna pattern and spatial Adjacent Channel Leakage Ratio (ACLR) are introduced considering the new RF features of AAS, and the impacts of AAS on BS performance are analyzed based on the AAS fundamental applications. System-level coexistence simulation is conducted to evaluate the RF features of transmitter and receiver of AAS on BS performance. Simulation results show that RF feature of spatial ACLR of AAS transmitter has little impact on throughput loss in victim system and ACLR of 45 dB per transmitter of AAS can fully meet the coexistence requirement; RF feature of in-band blocking level of individual receiver of AAS is higher than that of receiver of BS equipped with passive antenna around 1-4 dB, which imposes harder requirement to design the channel selection filter in the individual receiver of AAS, thus in-band blocking requirement needs to be redefined for AAS BS in the existing 3GPP specification.

Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) offloading is an important approach to address the data traffic challenge faced by Long Term Evolution (LTE) network. Legacy offloading solutions based on the core network suffer from the limitations of load unbalance and user experience degradation. To solve this problem, 3GPP has recently proposed a radio access network (RAN) assisted WLAN offloading scheme. In this article, we thoroughly analyze the performance of this new scheme, with emphasis on the RAN auxiliary parameters and control rules defined in it. Furthermore, two kinds of offloading algorithms based on this scheme are proposed and compared with the traditional solutions by simulation. Results show that the RAN-assisted offloading scheme can increase average user throughput and leverage resources available in both LTE and WLAN systems.

Abstract: 针对LTE系统物理层下行链路的Turbo编码器进行了研究,分别确定和设计了组成编码器的四个模块——交织、分量编码、删余和复接的工作方式和电路图。在完成四个模块单独仿真测试的基础上,对各模块之间的连接进行了整体设计和调试,将交织器、分量编码器、删余器三个模块组合成一个模块,并将其输出的校验序列与原码输入序列一同输入到复接器中,实现了最后的编码序列输出。
The Turbo coder in the down-link of physical layer for LTE systems is studied in this paper. The four modules of Turbo coder, which are interweave, component coding, puncture and multiplex, are analyzed and designed. The connection of the four modules is developed after simulating and adjusting the four mo- dules. Then the three modules of interweave, component coding and puncture are combined into one module. The check code output from this module and the original code are together put into the multiplexer, and fi- nally the coding sequences are output.

Abstract: The industry landscape in telecommunications is changing rapidly at the moment. Services are increasingly shifting from voice to data and from circuit-switched to packet-switched ones. LTE and WiMAX are the two technologies poised to dominate next generation mobile networks. Battle between LTE & WiMAX technologies is already heating up with WiMAX being ahead due to availability of standards through IEEE 802.16 and is up and running but lacks in substantial roll out plans due to cost. On the contrary, LTE upgrades from 3G networks are rumored to be as simple as slotting in a new card in the rack. Researchers and business community is divided over the choice of LTE and WiMAX. Few researchers feel that 3G LTE can bring substantial technologies and economical benefits to operators deploying mobile networks beyond 3G. This paper presents a comprehensive comparative study to help arrive at the choice between LTE and WiMAX.

Research on Channel Estimation Algorithm for LTE Uplink Based on FPGA

From the point of view of implementation, channel estimation of LTE uplink is studied in the paper. Firstly, LS, MMSE and other commonly used channel estimation algorithm are analyzed and simulated by MATLAB. Secondly, channel estimator circuit structure adopting digital MMSE algorithm is described in detail. Then, in accordance with the 3GPP physical layer standards, based on FPGA, digital channel estimation algorithm of TD-LTE uplink system is implemented. The simulation results illustrate that the digital MMSE algorithm model system is optimal in both the complexity of the system and channel estimation effect.

Abstract: 考虑网络负载,通过最佳无线利用率的概念引入对LTE小区资源及负荷的定量描述。结合小区的信号质量电平,综合评估用户终端的移动性,以及开展业务存在差异化的QCI,提出了一种基于多因素决策的LTE切换算法。从层三滤波入手,通过加权因子解决了将信号质量电平、小区负荷有机组合的问题。对切换迟滞系数进行基于用户速率和QCI修正,增加切换算法对影响因素的敏感性,从而保证LTE网络能够因为网络状况和用户行为进行更及时的差异化切换。同时,切换算法预留了扩容门限,能够动态添加需要考虑的任何因素,具备良好的扩充性能。
Considering the network load, this paper described LTE cell resource status based on cell optimum utilization. Then, combined with signal level, comprehensive assessment of user terminal’s mobility and differentiate QCI during operations, this paper proposed a new LTE handover algorithm based on multi-factor decision called HLMF (Handover Algorithm base on Multi-Factors). Through layer-3 filtering, this algorithm made it possible to unite important factors such as signal level, cell load, etc. HLMF also modified the hysteresis co-efficient according to user mobility and QCI rectification, which improved the sensitivity of algorithm to various factors, and guaranteed the promptness of LTE system handover caused by network conditions and user behaviors. Meanwhile, HLMF reserved expansion threshold, so it could be added any factors to consider and had a good expansion ability.

Abstract: In this paper different ways of planning the radio resources within an LTE network are analyzed. All simulations were carried out using 3GPP recommendations. Soft frequency reuse (SFR), soft fractional frequency reuse (SFFR) and hard fractional frequency reuse (HFFR) radio resource allocation schemes are compared to fixed frequency reuse 1 (R1) and reuse 3 (R3) radio resource allocation schemes. An optimum way of planning radio resources in a LTE network is proposed at the end of paper.
