Abstract: In the title compound, (C11H15N2)2[HgBr4], the tetracoordinated HgII center of the complex anion adopts a distorted tetrahedral geometry [Hg—Br = 2.5755 (8)–2.623 (11) and Br—Hg—Br = 103.78 (19)–116.4 (3)°]. One of the Br atoms is disordered over two sites [site-occupancy factors = 0.51 (6) and 0.49 (6)]. The N—C—N angles in the cations are 110.7 (6) and 111.4 (7)°. In the crystal packing, a supramolecular chain is formed via both weak intermolecular C—H...Br hydrogen bonds and π–π aromatic ring stacking interactions [centroid–centroid separation = 3.803 (1) ].

Abstract: The title compound, C19H18O7, also known as chrysoobtusin, was isolated from Cassia tora L. (Leguminosae). The anthraquinone ring system is almost planar, the dihedral angle between the two benzene rings being 4.27 (4)°. The structure is stabilized by intra- and intermolecular O—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen bonds, and by weak π–π stacking interactions along the b axis, with a centroid–centroid distance between related benzene rings of 3.800 (4) .

Abstract: In the title three-dimensional heterometallic complex, {[AgSm(C6H4NO2)2(C2O4)]·2H2O}n, the SmIII ion is eight-coordinated by four O atoms from four different nicotinate ligands and four O atoms from two different oxalate ligands. The three-coordinate AgI ion is bonded to two N atoms from two different nicotinate anions and one O atom from an oxalate anion. These metal coordination units are connected by bridging nicotinate and oxalate ligands, generating a three-dimensional network. The uncoordinated water molecules link the carboxylate groups via O—H...O hydrogen bonding. The crystal structure is further stabilized by hydrogen bonds between the water molecules.
Efficacy of Anti-Interleukin-5 Therapy with Mepolizumab in Patients with Asthma: A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Placebo-Controlled Trials

Abstract: Background Interleukin (IL)-5 is believed to be a key cytokine in eosinophil inflammatory infiltration in asthma. Previous clinical trials have evaluated the efficacy and safety of mepolizumab, a monoclonal antibody against IL-5, in patients with asthma. However, most of these studies were small, the conclusions were inconsistent, and the precise effects are therefore debatable. Methods A meta-analysis of randomized placebo-controlled trials was conducted to evaluate the effect of intravenous infusion of mepolizumab on clinical outcomes in patients with asthma. Trials were searched in PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane CENTRAL, Scopus, reviews, and reference lists of relevant articles. The outcome variables analyzed included eosinophil counts in blood and sputum, airways outcome measures, exacerbations, asthma control, and quality of life scores. Results Seven studies met final inclusion criteria (total n = 1131). From the pooled analyses, mepolizumab significantly reduced eosinophils in blood (MD ?0.29×109/L, 95% CI ?0.44 to ?0.14×109/L, P = 0.0001) and sputum (MD ?6.05%, 95% CI ?9.34 to ?2.77%, P = 0.0003). Mepolizumab was also associated with significantly decreased exacerbation risk than placebo (OR 0.30, 95%CI 0.13 to 0.67, P = 0.004), and with a significant improvement in the scores on the Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire (AQLQ) (MD 0.26, 95% CI 0.03 to 0.49, P = 0.03) in patients with eosinophilic asthma. There were no statistical differences between the groups with respect to FEV1, PEF, or histamine PC20 (all P>0.05), and a non-significant trend for improvement in scores on the Juniper Asthma Control Questionnaire (JACQ) (MD ?0.21, 95% CI ?0.43 to 0.01, P = 0.06) in the mepolizumab group was observed. Conclusions Mepolizumab reduces the risk of exacerbations and improves quality of life in patients with eosinophilic asthma, but no significant improvement in lung function outcomes was observed. Further research is required to establish the possible role of anti–IL-5 as a therapy for asthma.
A New Cationic Porphyrin Derivative (TMPipEOPP) with Large Side Arm Substituents: A Highly Selective G-Quadruplex Optical Probe

Abstract: The discovery of uncommon DNA structures and speculation about their potential functions in genes has brought attention to specific DNA structure recognition. G-quadruplexes are four-stranded nucleic acid structures formed by G-rich DNA (or RNA) sequences. G-rich sequences with a high potential to form G-quadruplexes have been found in many important genomic regions. Porphyrin derivatives with cationic side arm substituents are important G-quadruplex-binding ligands. For example, 5,10,15,20-Tetrakis(N-methylpyridinium-4?-yl)-21H,23H-porphyrin(TMPyP4), interacts strongly with G-quadruplexes, but has poor selectivity for G-quadruplex versus duplex DNA. To increase the G-quadruplex recognition specificity, a new cationic porphyrin derivative, 5,10,15,20-tetra-{4-[2-(1-methyl-1- piperidinyl)ethoxy]phenyl} porphyrin (TMPipEOPP), with large side arm substituents was synthesized, and the interactions between TMPipEOPP and different DNA structures were compared. The results show that G-quadruplexes cause large changes in the UV-Vis absorption and fluorescence spectra of TMPipEOPP, but duplex and single-stranded DNAs do not, indicating that TMPipEOPP can be developed as a highly specific optical probe for discriminating G-quadruplex from duplex and single-stranded DNA. Visual discrimination is also possible. Job plot and Scatchard analysis suggest that a complicated binding interaction occurs between TMPipEOPP and G-quadruplexes. At a low [G-quadruplex]/[TMPipEOPP] ratio, one G-quadruplex binds two TMPipEOPP molecules by end-stacking and outside binding modes. At a high [G-quadruplex]/[TMPipEOPP] ratio, two G-quadruplexes bind to one TMPipEOPP molecule in a sandwich-like end-stacking mode.
Research on Resource Selection with Due Date Constraint

Abstract: In this paper,we consider the resource selection problem with due date constraint in production planning and control where the sub-tasks form a precedence network.We prove that this problem is NP-complete.Thus this problem cannot have any polynomial time solution algorithm at present.We establish a nonlinear integer-programming model for this problem,and prove the monotonicity properties of the objective function and constraint function in the model.Basing on our observations,we construct a Branch and Bound method to solve the problem.The Branch and Bound method is superiority compared with bidding algrithm in the scale and calculation speed to resolve this problem.
