Abstract: in this paper we propose an unified construction of lyapunov functions based on lur'e type functions that allows us to go from persidskii's to pure quadratic functions. such lyapunov functions allows the establishment of the absolute stability of nonlinear systems with nonlinearities belonging to given sectors. the sectors can be finite or infinite. an stability criterion is formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities (lmi). the parameters that define the sectors are present in the given lmi and are made available for optimization, leading to several optimization problems that are able to determine the available robustness levels for several sector configurations.

Abstract: Neste artigo propomos uma método unificado para constru o de fun es de Lyapunov a partir de fun es do tipo Lur'e que contém como casos particulares as fun es do tipo Persidskii e as fun es puramente quadráticas. Estas fun es de Lyapunov permitem estabelecer um critério para a estabilidade absoluta de sistemas n o lineares com n o linearidades pertencentes a setores, sejam eles finitos ou infinitos. O critério de estabilidade é formulado por meio de desigualdades matriciais lineares (LMIs) nas quais os parametros que definem os setores est o disponíveis para otimiza o. Esta propriedade nos permite definir problemas de otimiza o para determina o dos níveis de robustez para diversas configura es dos setores.
Experimentation library for Mathematics: discussions about its use in the process of teaching and learning Mathematics

Abstract: This article discusses possible uses of the Experimentation Library for Mathematic (similar to a Mathematics Laboratory) in the process of teaching and learning Mathematics. It is argued that in the process of knowledge development, as long as mathematical experiments are properly done, can help in the creation of meanings of mathematical objects. Taking this into consideration, the article focuses in one of the experiments and its activities trying to indicate the possibilities of relating it to alternative approaches for the teaching of mathematics, such as Resolution of Problems and Mathematical Modeling. The article defends Experimentation Library as a possibility for the development of alternative forms in the teaching of Mathematics.

Abstract: Este trabalho é parte de uma pesquisa que focaliza a Educa o Matemática, no contexto da Educa o em Economia Solidária, buscando atender a demandas específicas de conhecimentos matemáticos, inerentes àimplementa o de Empreendimentos em Economia Solidária (EES). Dentro deste cenário, o propósito deste artigo é investigar, do ponto de vista teórico, aproxima es possíveis entre a Educa o Matemática e a Economia Solidária. Como resultado, esta pesquisa aponta o Programa Etnomatemática como uma possibilidade do tratamento da Educa o Matemática no contexto da Economia Solidária. Com isso, defendese a ideia de uma Etnomatemática para Empreendimentos em Economia Solidária.

Abstract: in this paper we focus on the application of two mathematical alternative tasks to the teaching and learning of functions with high school students. the tasks were elaborated according to the following methodological approach: (i) problem solving and/or mathematics investigation and (ii) a pedagogical proposal, which defends that mathematical knowledge is developed by means of a balance between logic and intuition. we employed a qualitative research approach (characterized as a case study) aimed at analyzing the didactic pedagogical potential of this type of methodology in high school. we found that tasks such as those presented and discussed in this paper provide a more significant learning for the students, allowing a better conceptual understanding, becoming still more powerful when one considers the social-cultural context of the students.
Aten??o qualificada ao parto: a equipe de enfermagem em Rio Branco, Acre, Brasil

Abstract: this study aimed at identifying and characterizing nursing care professionals assisting childbirth at maternity hospitals in the city of rio branco, state of acre. it was conducted at the city's two maternity hospitals (one philanthropic institution and one public). the studied population consisted of 30 nursing professionals. the data were collected by means of interviews. the results showed that of the 25 (83.3%) nursing professionals who performed natural childbirth, 18 (72%) had been given training to perform childbirth through informal education, that is, by following or being followed by another professional during their work. it was concluded that, according to the world health organization criteria, only 7 (28%) nursing professionals giving care to parturient women at rio branco's institutions may be considered to be qualified for such care giving practice, thus showing that there is a need to qualify most of the nursing staff assisting women in labor and giving birth and their newborns.

Abstract: this work aims at studying the stability of switched linear systems with impulsive disturbances and at designing a state feedback switched control. the conditions are based on lyapunov-metzler inequalities, which assure that stability is preserved even if the system evolves on a sliding mode. a slight modification of these inequalities is introduced to cope with a guaranteed cost performance. in order to analyze the quality of the proposed solution, a lower bound for the actual cost is calculated. the theoretical results are applied to a multiobjective h2 control design problem with a number of possibly conflicting criteria. it is shown that the use of switched linear systems theory in multiobjective h2 control problems provides better results than others methods available in the literature. academic examples are used for illustration.

Abstract: this article presents a reflection on the determinants factors that lead to changes in the position of woman from vertical to horizontal in the delivery process. the institutionalization of the labor and birth process that promoted a lot of changes in the woman and family assistance. many practicals preserved the autonomy respect and the cultural values that give place to other ones that valued the technology, the medicalization and the intervention. such changes didn't make possible a significant reduction in the mother mortality and neonatal, in other way, they promoted the lack of humanization in the assistance. a new look on the ambulation effect and the position during labor and delivery is been encouraged and giving opportunity to became evident a variety of vantages and benefits to the mother and child.

Abstract: this study aimed to identify health professionals and competencies in care delivery to parturient women when admitted at the maternity and during the evolution of labor; and discuss nursing team competencies in care delivery to parturient women when admitted at the maternity and during the evolution of labor. it was carried out in the two maternities of rio branco, brazil. data were collected in july 2005, through systematic observations of essential competences in obstetrics developed by the health professionals. descriptive statistics and fisher's exact test were used for data analysis. results evidenced that nursing professionals with secondary education degree and physicians act in the admission and during labor. the study reveals that institutions present distinct models regarding who is responsible to perform certain competences in care to parturient and do not prioritize professional qualification for care to woman during labor.

Abstract: This paper addresses the design of full order linear dynamic output feedback controllers for flexible structures. Unstructured H∞ uncertainty models are introduced for systems in modal coordinates and in reduced order form. Then a controller is designed in order to minimize a given H2 performance function while keeping the maximum supported H∞ perturbation below some appropriate level. To solve this problem we develop an algorithm able to provide local optimal solutions to optimization problems with convex constraints and non-convex but differentiable objective functions. A controller design procedure based on a trade-off curve is proposed and a simple example is solved, providing a comparison between the proposed method and the usual minimization of an upper bound H2 to the norm. The method is applied to two different flexible structure theoretical models and the properties of the resulting controllers are shown in several simulations.
