Notes on Economic Growth with Scale Effects: Is Depopulation Compatible with Growth?  [PDF]
Masao Nakagawa, Asuka Oura, Yoshiaki Sugimoto
Theoretical Economics Letters (TEL) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/tel.2015.52021
Abstract: This research develops a simple theory to analyze the compatibility of depopulation and sustainable growth. By introducing the scale effect of aggregate rather than average human capital, it shows that the economy may enter a sustainable growth path with fertility recovery, keeping away from a non-Malthusian poverty trap.

Centralizer algebras of the primitive unitary reflection group of order $96$

Mathematics , 2015,
Abstract: Among the unitary reflection groups, the one on the title is singled out by its importance in, for example, coding theory and number theory. In this paper we start with describing the irreducible representations of this group and then examine the semi-simple structure of the centralizer algebra in the tensor representation.
On the image of code polynomials under theta map
Manabu Oura,Riccardo Salvati Manni
Mathematics , 2008,
Abstract: The theta map sends code polynomials into the ring of Siegel modular forms of even weights. Explicit description of the image is known for $g\leq 3$ and the surjectivity of the theta map follows. Instead it is known that this map is not surjective for $g\geq 5$. In this paper we discuss the possibility of an embedding between the associated projective varieties. We prove that this is not possible for $g\geq 4$ and consequently we get the non surjectivity of the graded rings for the remaining case $g=4$.
Full Genome Characterisation of Bluetongue Virus Serotype 6 from the Netherlands 2008 and Comparison to Other Field and Vaccine Strains

Abstract: In mid September 2008, clinical signs of bluetongue (particularly coronitis) were observed in cows on three different farms in eastern Netherlands (Luttenberg, Heeten, and Barchem), two of which had been vaccinated with an inactivated BTV-8 vaccine (during May-June 2008). Bluetongue virus (BTV) infection was also detected on a fourth farm (Oldenzaal) in the same area while testing for export. BTV RNA was subsequently identified by real time RT-PCR targeting genome-segment (Seg-) 10, in blood samples from each farm. The virus was isolated from the Heeten sample (IAH “dsRNA virus reference collection” [dsRNA-VRC] isolate number NET2008/05) and typed as BTV-6 by RT-PCR targeting Seg-2. Sequencing confirmed the virus type, showing an identical Seg-2 sequence to that of the South African BTV-6 live-vaccine-strain. Although most of the other genome segments also showed very high levels of identity to the BTV-6 vaccine (99.7 to 100%), Seg-10 showed greatest identity (98.4%) to the BTV-2 vaccine (RSAvvv2/02), indicating that NET2008/05 had acquired a different Seg-10 by reassortment. Although Seg-7 from NET2008/05 was also most closely related to the BTV-6 vaccine (99.7/100% nt/aa identity), the Seg-7 sequence derived from the blood sample of the same animal (NET2008/06) was identical to that of the Netherlands BTV-8 (NET2006/04 and NET2007/01). This indicates that the blood contained two different Seg-7 sequences, one of which (from the BTV-6 vaccine) was selected during virus isolation in cell-culture. The predominance of the BTV-8 Seg-7 in the blood sample suggests that the virus was in the process of reassorting with the northern field strain of BTV-8. Two genome segments of the virus showed significant differences from the BTV-6 vaccine, indicating that they had been acquired by reassortment event with BTV-8, and another unknown parental-strain. However, the route by which BTV-6 and BTV-8 entered northern Europe was not established.

Abstract:
Introduction: Post-stroke depression occurs in a context of stroke characterized by sadness, loss of interest, feelings of guilt, loss of appetite, a feeling of tiredness, and a lack of concentration. Material and Methods: We conducted a descriptive cross-sectional study from January 1, 2013 to September 30, 2016. For the diagnosis of post-stroke depression, neuropsychological tests (DSM-IV and MADRS) were used. The collection approach was a maintenance survey followed by an examination. Results: From 153 stroke patients, 48.4% (n = 74) had post-stroke depression. Depressed mood was noted in 50.3% and 43.8% had a marked decrease in interest. 67.9% of these patients had a primary level of education. Widows had 4.2 times the risk of post-stroke depression, and married and retired patients were 3 times more likely than public servants. The occurrence of post-stroke depression was significantly related to the presence of motor deficit in our patients, p < 0.0001. Conclusion: These results suggest that the risk of developing depression after stroke increases with the motor deficit. The DSM-IV and MADRS scores remain neuropsychological examinations of choice for the diagnostic approach.

Decolorization of Secondary Effluent from Piggery Wastewater by Fenton Reaction Using Iron Powder
Harada Hiroyuki,Toru Shiomichi,Ysuhiro Ueshima,Seichiro Oura
Environment and Pollution , 2012, DOI: 10.5539/ep.v2n1p103
Abstract: A Fenton reaction using 150-um iron powder for treating activated sludge from livestock-raising wastewater resulted in significant decreases in chromaticity and chemical oxygen demand. The optimum weight ratio of H2O2/Fe(0) was 0.3, and the optimum initial pH and the optimum reaction time were 3.5 and 30 mins. Under these optimum conditions, the removal ratios of chemical oxygen demand and the chromaticity of the supernatant after polymer coagulant addition and precipitation of the sludge in a continuous miniplant experiment were 86% and 84%, respectively.
Modular Forms of weight 8 for $Γ_g(1,2)$

Mathematics , 2008,
Abstract: We complete the program indicated by the Ansatz of D'Hoker and Phong in genus ~4 by proving the uniqueness of the restriction to Jacobians of the weight 8 Siegel cusp forms satisfying the Anstaz. We prove $\dim [\Gamma_4(1,2),8]_0=2$ and $\dim [\Gamma_4(1,2),8]=7$. In each genus, we classify the linear relations among the self-dual lattices of rank {16}. We extend the program to genus ~5 by constructing the unique linear combination of theta series that satisfies the Ansatz.
