Abstract: Transgene insert location in the genome through different methods is random. Thus, alterations in the expression of desired trait may occur, as well as alterations in the expression of other characteristics of receptor plant. The purpose of this study was to compare Bt transgenic maize hybrids and the respective conventional isogenic hybrid in relation to adaptability and phenotypic stability. Field trails were set up in four locations of Minas Gerais, Brazil (Campo do Meio, Lavras, Madre de Deus and Paragua?u). A randomized complete block design was used, with three replications, and the treatment structure was a factorial 6 × 2, with six hybrids in the transgenic and conventional versions. Plant and ear height and grain yield were evaluated. To estimate stability, the Anicchiarico, Wricke and AMMI methodologies were used. Grain yield and ear height of the transgenic hybrids and their respective conventional isogenic hybrid did not differ. There are differences in the phenotypic stability between transgenic hybrids with Bt technology and their counterpart conventional isogenic hybrid.

Abstract: this study is about the ethics that a study has to consider over research development. we intend to present reflections on the question that brings out doubts among researchers nowadays, as well as about some other questions that seem not to cause insecurity,. for that reason they are being neglected or misallocated in terms of their theoretical basis, separated from the principles and the values that should support them, and then becoming simple operational tasks.

Abstract: The diagnosis of liver cirrhosis in patients with chronic hepatitis C has not always been easy, since the gold standard method is the liver biopsy, which is an invasive procedure with interobserver accuracy problems and there have been reports of complications including records of deaths due to hemoperitoneum. Cirrhosis changes the prognosis of the subject with hepatitis C and requires a different clinical management. This study aimed to identify clinical and laboratory variables associated with the diagnosis of cirrhosis in the ultrasonography of patients infected with hepatitis C. In a case-control study, we evaluated 70 cirrhotic patients with chronic hepatitis C compared to a control group of 70 non-cirrhotic people with positive HCV. The results showed, through logistic regression analysis, that the variables blood donor and professional athlete, adjusted for alcohol consumption, showed OR 0.24 and 0.18, with p values of 0.044 and 0.035, respectively. We conclude that the diagnosis of cirrhosis in patients with chronic hepatitis C remains challenging, but the patients with the condition of blood donor or professional athlete prove to be less likely to cirrhosis in ultrasonography in the initial consultation.

Abstract: xanthomonas axonopodis pv. citri strains that cause disease in citrus were investigated by pulsed field and plasmid profile analysis. for the first method, genomic dna was digested by the rare-cutting enzymes xba i and vsp i. the strains evaluated were collected in seven different states of brazil and in argentina, bolivia, paraguay and uruguay. genetic variability was found among strains of x. axonopodis pv. citri from different geographical areas argentina, bolivia and uruguay, with similarities varying from 0.62 to 0.83. however, the strains collected in brazil, despite being from different states, have shown a genetic similarity ranging from 0.83 to 1.00. cluster analysis showed a relationship between genomic similarity and geographical origin of the strains. plasmids were observed in all strains, with a total of five different plasmids, with sizes between 57.7 and 83.0 kilobases. the 72.6 kb plasmid was the most frequent, present in 15 out of 22 strains, while the 68.1 kb plasmid was observed in two strains only. although the plasmid diversity detected in the present study was not very great, the x. axonopodis pv. citri strains evaluated showed a considerable degree of diversity with regard to this extrachromosomal genetic element.
