Olhando a crian?a e seus outros: uma trajetória de pesquisa em educa??o infantil
Rossetti-Ferreira, Maria Clotilde;Amorim, Katia de Souza;Oliveira, Zilma de Moraes Ramos de;
Psicologia USP , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-65642009000300008
Abstract: aiming to contribute to the current and intense process of revision of conceptions and educational practices mediating learning and development of young children in day care centers and pre-schools, and based on our research experiences at cindedi, this paper approaches several questions which, in our view, are relevant for the understanding of collective education. how does developmental research contribute to this discussion? what conceptions about development is it based on? which methodological perspectives are more promising for the comprehension of the ways children and their teachers act and change with their experiences? how to understand notions such as developmental stages, teachers’ role in the learning process, factors explaining infant development and developmental evaluations in infancy? both family and childcare professionals interact with the child and organize his/her environment according to their expectations about his/her development and their own role in this process. these expectations are built through their life experiences in their particular culture. many expectations, beliefs and psychological theories have, thus, a strong self-fulfilling power, helping to build competencies and deficiencies. children and the professional staff of child education institutions have undoubtedly much to gain from reflecting on these questions.
Colorectal cancer in Porto Alegre and Fortaleza, Brazil: incidence trends and distribution pattern from 1990 to 1999
Reis, Rejane de Souza;Santos, Marceli de Oliveira;Bloch, Katia Vergetti;
Cadernos de Saúde Pública , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-311X2009000500011
Abstract: the aim of this study was to describe the incidence distribution of colorectal cancer in fortaleza, ceará state, and porto alegre, rio grande do sul state, brazil, and the time trend in the disease from 1990 to 1999. mean annual age-adjusted incidence rates and estimated annual percent change were calculated by gender, using population-based cancer registries. eapc showed an increase in the rates in porto alegre and fortaleza for men, +4.2% (p = 0.14) and +9.3% (p < 0.001), and women, +4.6% (p = 0.11) and +5.3% (p = 0.15), respectively. the mean adjusted incidence rates were three times higher in porto alegre than in fortaleza both for men (25.1 vs. 8.6/100 thousand) and women (19.9 vs. 7.1/100 thousand). this rise in incidence rates may be due to early cancer detection strategies, lifestyle changes, and alterations in the population age structure. a population profile similar to that of developed countries may explain the higher incidence rates in porto alegre. however, fortaleza showed the largest increases during the period studied.

American Journal of Plant Sciences (AJPS) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/ajps.2019.102025
Abstract:

The present work sought to characterize the cyanogenic glycoside dhurrin in five sugarcane varieties and to determine its possible relationship with the formation of ethyl carbamate in cachaca. For each variety, methanol, ethyl acetate and hexane extracts were prepared and submitted to thin layer chromatography. Chromatographic spots were revealed with iodine vapors. The physical and chemical parameters of the spirits produced from the five different varieties of sugar cane and by different production processes were within the legal limits. Although not exceeding the limit for ethyl carbamate, a significant variation in the final concentration of this compound was observed for each sample analyzed. The Rf values for the dhurrin standard and for the sugarcane variety SP 83-2847 were equal, similar to those for SP 80-3280 and CTC 11 and different from the Rf values for the RB 86-7515 and IAC 86-2480 samples.

Structural changes in latosols of the cerrado region: I - relationships between soil physical properties and least limiting water range
Severiano, Eduardo da Costa;Oliveira, Geraldo César de;Dias Júnior, Moacir de Souza;Costa, Katia Aparecida de Pinho;Silva, Fabiano Guimar?es;Ferreira Filho, Silvio Marcos;
Revista Brasileira de Ciência do Solo , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-06832011000300013
Abstract: the agricultural potential of latosols of the brazilian cerrado region is high, but when intensively cultivated under inappropriate management systems, the porosity can be seriously reduced, leading to rapid soil degradation. consequently, accelerated erosion and sedimentation of springs and creeks have been observed. therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate structural changes of latosols in rio verde, goiás, based on the least limiting water range (llwr), and relationships between llwr and other physical properties. soil samples were collected from the b horizons of five oxidic latosols representing the textural variability of the latosols of the cerrado biome. llwr and other soil physical properties were determined at various soil compaction degrees induced by uniaxial compression. soil compaction caused effects varying from enhanced plant growth due to higher water retention, to severe restriction of edaphic functions. also, inverse relationships were observed between clay content and bulk density values (bd) under different structural conditions. bd values corresponding to critical soil macroporosity (bdcmac) were more restrictive to a sustainable use of the studied latosols than the critical bd corresponding to llwr (bdcllwr). the high tolerable compression potential of these oxidic latosols was related to the high aeration porosity associated to the granular structure.
