Creative Education (CE) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ce.2014.52011
Abstract:

In 1999, the Judaic Education Council of Rio de Janeiro implemented the Educational Innovation Program (EIP) in the Israeli schools of that city so as to meet the new trends in Brazilian education. The present work was designed to evaluate the modifications taking place in the school environment as a result of EIP implementation, a program whose core idea is to work on knowledge building from the Piagetian perspective, active learning in Dewey’s conception, and multiple intelligences as presented by Gardner. In order to assess the chosen program, we used a qualitative approach through semi-structured interviews with the participants and observation of classrooms from the first to the fifth grade of elementary school. The results of our study showed that from the implementation of the program, the professionals involved were more motivated to search for information and update their knowledge so as to meet the differences between students, using a diversity of strategies and dynamic activities which led to encouraging student autonomy as regards their learning. The reported difficulties for the work to proceed were mainly about the schoolwork timetable planned for both the project and the subjects, and teachers having to cover an extensive curriculum, common to other Brazilian schools. In every innovative program, it is important for the professionals involved in it to continually re-evaluate its development, searching for changes or alternatives as difficulties are encountered. The aim of the present paper is to report the main findings of this research, as well as indicate the strengths and precautions to take in educational innovation proposals whose primary focus is classroom innovation.

Abstract: in 1999 the rio de janeiro council for jewish education set in motion the innovative education program (pie) at the israeli schools of rio de janeiro with the purpose of following the recent trends of brazilian education. the present work has as its objective to analyze the changes occurred in the school atmosphere since the onset and implementation of the program at a jewish school in rio. the program's central idea is to work with the concepts of active learning and multiple intelligences as proposed by piaget, dewey, and gardner. to analyze the pie we used a qualitative approach with the participants of the study through semi-structured interviews and observations in classrooms of the 1st to 5th years of fundamental education. the analysis of the data was based on the theoretical framework. the results indicate that, after the implementation of the program, the professionals involved gained in motivation to search for information and refresh their knowledge in order to attend to the differences between the pupils, making use of diversified strategies and thus encouraging a more dynamic work that facilitates the development of students' autonomy. in terms of difficulties faced in the development of the program, there was mention to the need to revise timetables, and to the fact that teachers now have to go through more extensive curricula. the school is still in the process of adapting to this innovative program, and therefore it is very important that the professionals involved constantly reevaluate the development of the program, trying to identify modifications and alternatives as difficulties arise.
Can Digital Games Be a Way of Improving the Neuroplasticity in Stroke Damage? Can the Adult Brain Grow New Cells or Rewire Itself in Response to a New Experience?  [PDF]

Abstract: Exploratory studies developed at several neurosciences laboratories at universities around the world show us through the experience that there is a biological process called neuroplasticity. Because of this oldest concept about the neuronal formation, scientists also thought that if a particular area of the adult brain was damaged, the nerve cells could not form new connections and the functions controlled by this field of the brain would be permanently lost or could not be regenerate. However, studies have overturned this old view, and currently, scientists recognize that the brain continues to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections during the life. This phenomenon is called neuroplasticity that refers to the potential which the brain should be reorganized by creating new neural pathways to adapt, as it needs.

Abstract: Como definir a identidade brasileira?
Soft power w polityce zagranicznej Turcji wobec regionu Bliskiego Wschodu

Annales UMCS, Sectio K (Politologia) , 2011, DOI: 10.2478/v10226-011-0005-3
Abstract: The subject of analysis in the article is soft power in the foreign policy of Turkey towards the Region of Middle East. In the conditions of the parameter change of the international system and in particular, appearance of new outside-state subjects and new quality phenomena and dangers, soft power has become an effective instrument enabling states to affect the external system as well as realization of the aims of foreign policy. Soft power model in Turkey's foreign policy towards Middle East is conditioned by internal factors: dynamically developing economy, access to energetic resources and internal factors such as geopolitical location and current shape of the international system. Realization of soft power in Turkey's foreign policy towards the Middle East region is accomplished, among others, through mediation in local conflicts, political and economic cooperation, propagating principles of liberal economy and democracy, promotion of culture and fostering the civil society. Analyzing effectiveness of soft power in Turkey's foreign policy towards the Middle East region, the author has concluded that this model is "the catalyst" of the regional cooperation and of civil society development as well as an effective tool of state image promotion abroad. However, it is not a sufficient tool of extinguishing international conflicts.
VideoCar in finan ne plati zajema cestnih podatkov v ob inah : VideoCar and the Financial Aspects of Community Road-Data Acquisition

Geodetski Vestnik , 2003,
Abstract: In the article there are two (often overlooked) aspects laid out regarding the important role and the influence of geodesy on the life of communities. First, the possibilities enabling communities to improve their financial management are emphasized. Such possibilities are often based on unbiased real-estate listings which can be provided by geodesy. The other type of communication between a community and geodesy is imposed by the law and as such supports communities in their efforts to reach the aims outlined by their spatial planning and managament departments.

Folia Malacologica , 2009, DOI: 10.2478/v10125-009-0001-4
Abstract: Three European melanopsids: Melanopsis parreyssii (Philippi, 1847) from Ochiul Mare (Romania), Fagotia acicularis (A. Férussac, 1828) from a spring near Crisul Negru (Romania), and Holandriana holandri (C. Pfeiffer, 1828) from Lake Skutari (Montenegro), as well as Melanopsis costata Oliver, 1804 from Iraq, are considered is this paper. Eight partial sequences of ribosomal 18S, and seven of mitochondrial COI were analysed. Maximum likelihood trees based on 18S confirm the placement of the Melanopsidae within the Cerithioidea, as well as the monophyly of the latter group. The COI-based tree confirms the placement of the Melanopsidae within the Cerithioidea, but does not confirm the monophyly of either Melanopsidae or Cerithioidea. The results suggest that Fagotia should be synonymised with Melanopsis, Holandriana is a distinct genus, and Melanopsis costata is not congeneric with M. parreyssii. The application of molecular clock, with one point calibration for COI for the Hydrobiidae, estimated the times of divergence as 2.53±0.56 Mya for M. parreyssii and F. acicularis, 9.49±1.67 Mya for M. parreyssii and H. holandri, and 10.71±1.88 Mya for F. acicularis and H. holandrii. 2.5 Mya coincides with the beginning of the glacial period in Europe, and 8-12 Mya was the time when Lake Pannon covered the largest area.
Optimization of organization and access to basic spatial data

Geologija , 2005,
Abstract: Geologic Survey of Slovenia acquired, in the last few years numerous digital spatial data of various sources and scales. Amounts of data constantly increased which lead to considerations on their organization in a unique collection to which the users could havedirect access. For surveying the already organized spatial data the ESRI ArcIMS program was selected, whereas for organization of spatial data themselves and for certain specific users requirements (cropping of raster data to a selected domain) the mentioned GIS internet solution had to be upgraded with additional program modules. In the following paper factual internet GIS solutions shall be presented especially from the aspect of simplification and increased efficiency of existing working procedures.
