Abstract: Introduction: Hospital Recreation (HR) aims to reduce disasters caused by hospital admission. Objectives: To expose the behavior of children in cancer treatment (CA) during HR, and to verify which recreational activities generate the most adherence. Methods: The research is an experimental clinical trial of a non-probabilistic and intentional sample, with a quantitative and qualitative approach. Participants were 43 children (both sexes), with CA, admitted to the Pediatric Hospital Oncology CenterPHOC. The mean age of the children in fact was 7.5 years, and the data of mean and standard deviation between parenthood confer with the data of the results found during the research. The study lasted 12 weeks, with 38 sessions lasting 3 hours. Using games of activity: cognitive, manipulative, perceptive, creative and cooperative. Inclusion criteria: 1) being hospitalized in the PHOC, of the city of Natal; 2) being released by the medical team to participate in the activities. Children who were on special care in the ICU were excluded from the study. The behavior of the children was evaluated by the observation matrix proposed by Urie Bonfenbrenner, approached by Krebs and Koller. At

Abstract: Objective: Cardiovascular diseases are the most common causes of morbidity and the leading cause of mortality in the world scenario, accounting for about 20% of all deaths in individuals over 30 years. It has attributed this to the increase in the company’s exposure to risk factors. It identifies cardiovascular risk factors in the nursing team and compares the cardiovascular risk by Framingham score among professionals of middle and upper working in a referral hospital in cardiology. Method: Cross-sectional quantitative study was conducted in 2014, in a reference hospital in cardiology located in Recife/Pernambuco, Brazil. Data of cardiologic risk factors were collected from 82 nursing team members, comprised of technical, auxiliary nurses, and nurses between 30 and 74 years of age. The cardiovascular risk level was evaluated by the Framingham Score. Data were organized and analyzed by means of the SPSS, with descriptive statistics and Student-t test for the continuous variables. Results: Family history, stress and sedentary life style were the prevalent risk factors in more than half of the professionals. Only 5.23% of the technical and auxiliary nurses had a high risk score for cardiovascular event. Conclusion: The data indicates a low cardiovascular risk for these professionals and the presence of risk factors that can be modified. Health surveillance of these professionals is necessary in order to avoid a change to a risk of greater vulnerability.

American Journal of Plant Sciences (AJPS) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/ajps.2017.89140
Abstract: The aim of this study was to quantify the dynamics of herbaceous biomass and fine root productivity, and their relationship to stocks of carbon and nitrogen, in the Vertisols of two adjacent watersheds of a seasonally dry tropical forest (SDTF) under two different types of ground cover. The two watersheds are located in the county of Iguatu in the State of Ceará, Brazil. The control watershed of 2.1 ha, has been under regeneration for 35 years (RC35), while the second watershed (1.1 ha) was subjected to thinning for a period of 5 years (TC5). The sampled variables were herbaceous shoot biomass, fine roots, gravimetric moisture, the isotope δ13C (‰), total soil carbon (TSC) and total nitrogen (TN) in the 0 - 20, 20 - 40 and 40 - 60 cm layers, between April 2013 and March 2014. To quantify herbaceous shoot biomass, samples were taken monthly. For TSC and TN, the campaigns were held every two months. The data underwent analysis of means and were compared by t-test (p < 0.05). Under TC5, there was an increase in the stocks of TSC and TN of 151 and 137% respectively in the 40 - 60 cm layer, in relation to RC35. The implementation of thinning in a SDFT is seen as a management alternative to be considered in sustainability programs in the semi-arid region, contributing to maximising the production of herbaceous forage for feeding large and small ruminants, and for bee pasture, in addition to increasing the stock of carbon in the soil of SDFT and reducing global warming.

Abstract: Researches of many South American countries point the zero tillage system of crop production for little farmers as a responsible factor for best soil and water conservation, less costs of production and best profits to improve the rural way of life. The treatments usually include the application of herbicides. To find agricultural systems that allow zero tillage without herbicide or with reduced usage has been considered a challenge by the researchers. This experiment was carried out in order to evaluate the effects of different mulches on the control of unwished plants in maize crop (Zea mays). Plants such as sunhemp (Crotalaria juncea), millet (Pennisetum americanum) and sunflower (Helianthus annus L.) cv. Stanzuela and V 2000 were grown in 100 m2 areas. The sowing was made at the second April fortnight and, after sixty days, the zero tillage system with maize was established by using a manual planting machine. Just after, the plants grown in the plots were manually cut and used as mulch. The soil fertility was corrected according to the laboratorial analyses and the plant population adopted was around 60,000 plants per hectare. No weed control was made. At the maize flowering, the seed weeds grown in the plots were collected by using two samples of 1 m2 plot (two replications). The plant material was dried till constant weight. Statistical analyses obtained from the data indicated the millet mulch as the best treatment to the weed control. KEY-WORDS: Mulches; uwished plants; maize crop.
