Reis, Camila Martins Fonseca;Vilas Boas, Eduardo Valério de Barros;Boari, Cleube Andrade;Píccoli, Roberta Hilsdorf;
Ciência e Agrotecnologia , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-70542004000300029
Abstract: the objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of a chemical dip (calcium chloride + ascorbic acid + l-cysteine) and modified atmosphere on the quality and shelf-life of fresh-cut 'prata' banana. the variables titratable acidity, mass loss and total soluble sugars increased significantly over the storage period. an increase in total soluble solids was observed over the storage period, whereas the chemical dip with 0,5% of l-cysteine promoted the highest values of that variable. the microbiological analysis did not detect fecal and total coliforms, although have detected low levels of mesophilos aerobics, fungus and yeast.

Abstract: with the aim to evaluate the effect of the pyraclostrobin application on physiological and phenometric variables in soybean crop, a field experiment was carried from november 2005 to may 2006. evaluations of photosynthesis and respiration were taken, as well as nitrate reductase activity, 1000 seeds mass and soybean productivity. the statistical design was complete randomized blocks with three treatments (t1: no fungicide application; t2: two applications of pyraclostrobin and t3: two applications of tebuconazole - triazol) and four replications. the pyraclostrobin application raised the photosynthesis rate. the leaf nitrate reductase activity just raised after 15 days from first application of pyraclostrobin. plants treated with strobilurin (t2) showed increase of 7 and 8% in 1000 seeds mass and 1080 and 468 kg ha-1 in the soybean productivity when compared to t1 and t3, respectively. the results indicate that pyraclostrobin (strobilurin) application affects carbon and nitrogen assimilation in soybean crop that is reflected on the grain yield.

This work's subject matter is D. Macedo Costa's political thought. It's focus is his works on Catholic Press A Estrella do Norte as a political strategic to settle down in nineteen century Amazonian society. He had a political project to Amazon in opposition to those who were against Church's interference in state affairs an inspired in European modern thought and its paradigms.

Abstract: Diarrhea-causing pathogens employ a variety of sophisticated strategies to colonize the intestinal epithelium. In essence, ingested pathogens have evolved the abilities to: (1) resist non-specific host defenses, such as stomach acidity, peristalsis, mucosal cell exfoliation, intestinal mucins, and bacteriocins [1]; (2) adhere to intestinal epithelia; and (3) ultimately colonize the epithelia. Colonization may, or may not, involve cellular invasion. When cellular invasion occurs, it can be followed either by intracellular multiplication and spread of the bacteria to other tissues, or by bacterial persistence.Although bacterial pathogens employ different strategies, they share common targets in the host cell and often cause the same cellular responses. Virulence factors act either from the extracellular milieu mimicking cell ligands, or are injected into the intracellular milieu, where they act in concert to manipulate signaling pathways, for example to subvert the plasticity of the cytoskeleton, interrupt the endocytic traffic, and, in some cases, mediate resistance to phagocytosis. The host cell, in turn, defends itself against infection by initiating an inflammatory response and by altering the intestinal fluid balance in order to extrude the unwanted bacteria, thus causing diarrhea. Hence, the success of infection depends on host cell-bacteria interactions, and in each step bacteria exploit the target cell machinery for their own benefit.Adhesion is the preliminary step in the infectious process and requires strong and specific interactions. Table 1 lists the best characterized adhesins in the diarrhea-causing bacteria discussed in this review, and their cognate host-cell receptors. Bacterial attraction to intestinal epithelia is also favored by local environmental factors such as alkaline milieu, humidity and anaerobiosis.In response to the first contact with an epithelial cell, typical EPEC produce adhesive structures called bundle-forming pili (BFP) and form mi
