Abstract: The integrity of the central auditory system is a fundamental condition for language development. Good language development is related to good academic performance and adaptive behavior. Therefore, the evaluation of auditory processing along with behavior as well as the verification of a possible relationship between them can indicate possible ways on how to deal with both problem behavior and difficulties in language. 187 parents of preschoolers (mean age 3.8 years) were interviewed individually and asked to fill in the CBCL (Child Behavior Checklist), for ages 1(1/2) to 5, providing a behavioral profile concerning externalizing and internalizing behavior. Children were assessed regarding central auditory processing skills through the Simplified Assessment of the Auditory Processing—SAAP (Pereira & Schochat, 1997) including Sound Source Localization (SSL); Non-Verbal Sound Sequence Memory (NVSSM); Verbal Sounds Sequence Memory (VSSM). To investigate a possible association between central auditory processing skills and behavioral problems, all the scores in CBCL and the total scores of Simplified Auditory Processing Assessment were correlated with functional parameters using the Spearman rank correlation. The behaviors “acts too young for age”; “constantly seeks help”; “does not eat well”; “does not seem to feel guilty after misbehaving”; “easily frustrated”; “nervous movements or twitching”; “nervous, highstrung, or tense”; “poorly coordinated or clumsy”; “repeatedly rocks head or body”; “stares into space and seems preoccupied”, “sulks a lot” and “wanders away” were correlated with poor auditory processing skills. This indicates that the school staff along with health professionals should provide informational counseling regarding, not only the communicative difficulties associated with a poor performance on central auditory processing skills but also the psychosocial difficulties that these children may be facing.

Abstract: Clostridium difficile is a nosocomial enteric pathogen, considered the main etiological agent of antibiotic-associated diarrhea in hospitals. C. difficile is resistant to several antimicrobial agents used in empiric treatment protocols, which confers selective advantages to this species as compared with other members of the intestinal microbiota. The aim of this study was to evaluate and identify possible alterations of the intestinal microbiota population resulting from the use of antimicrobials associated with infections by C. difficile (CDI). Denaturing Gradient Gel Electrophoresis (DGGE) was used to evaluate fecal samples from two groups: healthy subjects and patients with C. difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAD). A decrease in bacterial diversity was highlighted by the low number of bands in samples from CDAD patients, compared with healthy subjects. This may indicate that antibiotic treatment would affect bacterial diversity, leading to a significant difference between the intestinal microbiota of these two groups, but further studies are still needed. Firmicutes and Verrucomicrobia phyla were detected mainly in healthy individuals, and these could be related to protection factors against the CDI. Klebsiella variicola/K. pneumoniae were found mostly in samples from CDI patients. This study shows the effects of antimicrobials and the CDI itself on human intestinal microbiota.

La relación estrés, resistencia y turno de trabajo en enfermeros de un hospital de ense?anza
De Melo Batista,Karla; Ferraz Bianchi,Estela Regina;
Enfermería Global , 2013,
Abstract: this exploratory study aimed at determining the level of stress, hardin and its correlation with the shift among 72 nurses at a teaching hospital in vitória-espírito santo. data was collected through a structured questionnaire. the results indicated that nurses who work the night shift show high levels of stress and lower values for hardiness and control challenge. despite the impossibility of generalizing the results, they serve to alert the nurses to the level of stress and the impact on the life of the night shift worker. they also allow a glimpse of hardiness as a proposal for intervention by the nurse to insert a greater capacity for tolerance to stress.

Revista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-11692006000400010
Abstract: stress is clearly present in nursing work. this article presents an exploratory study carried out among emergency unit nurses from hospital institutions, and aimed at determining these professionals' stress level. the sample consisted of 73 emergency unit nurses who work for public and private institutions in the city of s?o paulo. the data was collected through a structured questionnaire. the results indicated that emergency unit nurses present a medium stress level, and that participants considered e - work conditions to perform nursing activities, and f - activities related to personnel administration, as the most stressful areas. for emergency unit nurses, in spite of the ready and effective action towards the instability of the patient's situation, conditions external to this situation are more stressful than the emergency. hospitals need to analyze these requisites to allow for decreased stress among emergency nurses.
Root canal filling using MTA in association with parendodontic surgery in the retreatment of an external apical root resorption – case report
Marcos JACOBOVITZ,Fernanda Geraldes PAPPEN,Regina Karla de Pontes LIMA
RSBO , 2009,
Abstract: Introduction and objective: The treatment of external apical root resorption should be directed to eliminate the endodontic infection. In some cases, the clinical resolution by conventional endodontic treatment cannot be performed, due to instrumentation and root canal filling complexity. In these cases, alternative instrumentation and obturation techniques may be necessary,additionally to apical surgery. Case report: This case report shows an alternative to external apical root resorption retreatment, using obturation with MTA associated to parendodontic surgery. After the removal of obturation material and the root canal cleaning and shaping, calcium hydroxide therapy was performed during 45 days. After that the canal was filled with MTA, and in a posterior session apical curettage and apicoectomy were performed. After 34 months, the periapical healing could be radiographically noticed, with close contact between trabecular bone and MTA. Conclusion: The use of MTA as a root canal filling material associated with parendodontic surgery seemed to be an adequate alternative to external apical root resorptions.

Abstract: despite being a firm atheist and having constantly affirmed his atheism, freud paradoxically demonstrated great interest in the religious phenomenon. he was seriously engaged in applying key elements of the psichoanalysis theory to interpret the origins and the nature of religion. in spite of that, his position concerning religion is constantly referred to as exclusively critical and negative. our objective here is to demonstrate that the freudian text, besides its unquestionable critical aspect, also provides valuable contributions that can be very useful to a metapsichological understanding of the religious experience. his texts on religion provide diverse perspectives other than the scientific critic. they also provide theoretical support which enables new forms of theoretical constructions about pshichoanalysis and religion. an example of that would be the possibility of considering the concept of sublimation to the metapsichological study of the religious thematic. those new possibilities found in the freudian text are relevant due to the frequent questioning related to religion made by the clients who permeate the contemporary clinic.
