Abstract: the study aimed to analyze the perception of women in situations of social vulnerability, about their dreams and ways of coping with adversities in their daily lives, trying to see how poverty, according to the concepts of amartya sen, interfered in their attitude towards life. it is a qualitative study, conducted in august and september 2007 in paula candido, minas gerais state, brazil. we interviewed 110 women (10%) enrolled in the programa bolsa família [family grant program], randomly selected. data were collected through semi-structured questionnaire and analyzed using the thematic analysis technique. it was found that the desire for a "better life" was ultimately, the greatest dream of the women interviewed, the set "education-work-money" the most cited way to achieve a dignified life. however, poor education, informal and precarious employment and poor pay are obstacles to achieving their dreams. due to such adversity, the attitude of the interviewees ranged from resignation to self-awareness and hopelessness of their situation as a subject in the world, able to dream and believe in the possibility of realizing their aspirations, using their skills and resources to fight for a "better life". it is noteworthy that a policy to fight poverty - as the fgp - should seek the expansion of human capabilities, articulating with structural actions in order to achieve the ultimate goal of the program: the emancipation and social inclusion of the benefited families.

Creative Education (CE) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/ce.2018.93034
Abstract: New technological advances have been challenging professionals in education area to reach the new generation of students. Since this new generation is surrounded by this new technology, it is mandatory to associate new practices and teaching methods to their education plan. In this way, educators must reflect not only on their usual pedagogical practices but also in the efficacy of the method that has been practiced in the teaching and learning process. Technical Drawing is a discipline that takes place in High School programs in addition to Technical and Higher Education. It is directly influenced by this technological advance, once the student goes from the draw in the paper to the draw in computers during the classes and is encouraged to execute the projects that arise from the step-by-step draw. In this context, this work aimed to show a study performed during the Technical Drawing discipline to report a new structure in the educational methodology related to project-based learning. The focus of this study was to encourage students to develop a greater interest in engineering using project based learning and use this as a method for learning.

Revista CEFAC , 2012,
Abstract: It was performed a nonsystematic review on the importance of the phonemic discrimination to the phonological acquisition and its relation to the phonological disorder. Studies indicate that phonemic discrimination represents an essential ability in the process of acquiring sounds of speech and that children with phonological disorder present difficulties in that ability.

Open Journal of Nursing (OJN) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ojn.2015.53021
Abstract: This study aims at verifying the learning of adolescent students about the disabled person using educational technology in the board game mode and using a semi-experimental non-randomized study of pre and post with unintentional probability sample. Validated and standardized instruments were used. Data were processed by SPSS 20.0 and organized in tables. For comparison of proportions, the McNemar test was used. Females predominated (56%), aged between 13 and 14 years old (63.3%) from private schools (58.7%). It was evidenced a significance for learning about visual and hearing impairment on issues of low complexity (p < 0.0001), visual impairment in the issue of medium complexity (p < 0.0001) and hearing loss in high complexity (p < 0.0001). It should be practiced using the board game to school awareness about the theme, because it provides reflection on the theme, contributes to learning and encourages inclusion.

As demais variáveis n o apresentaram diferen as. PURPOSE: To investigate the influence of hospital environment on aspects related to breastfeeding and communication on the mother/newborn interaction during the breastfeeding process. METHODS: This consisted on a cross-sectional study composed by 34 dyads: 18 in rooming and 16 in intermediate/medium care units of a public hospital. Each dyad was observed at the time of breastfeeding, and data were analyzed considering the aspects standardized by UNICEF for breastfeeding. Verbal and nonverbal communication modes were observed. RESULTS: Comparison of variables showed significant associations between hospital environment and the position of the mother in relation to the newborn and mother stimulation and vocalization to the neonate, with favorable percentage for the dyad that was in rooming. The other variables did not differ. CONCLUSION: Important conditions for the establishment of breastfeeding and communication between mother and newborn are influenced by the location of the dyad, especially the hospital environment.

Abstract: The GB virus C (GBV-C)/hepatitis G virus (HGV) is a member of the Flaviviridae family. Based on the clinical and epidemiological profiles, this virus can be acquired mainly by parenteral transmission through contaminated blood. It was therefore investigated the presence of GBV-C/HGV RNA in the peripheral blood from healthy blood donors in the abscence of virus markers including HBV surface antigen (HBsAg), HBV core antibody (anti-HBc) and HCV antibody. HIV-1, HIV-2, were also investigated. GBVC RNA was detected by reverse transcriptase and polymerase chain reactions (RT-PCR). It was detected GBV-C RNA in 6/50 (12 %) blood donors. The presence of GBV-C RNA in the abscence of hepatitis B and C infection in young patients and healthy donors could indicate that this virus is capable of independent transmission and does not contribute to liver disease.

Abstract: the term "bad news" refers to any information transmitted to patients or their families that directly or indirectly involves a negative change in their lives. since breaking bad news is a stressful task, many physicians either avoid it or perform it inadequately. this situation has numerous negative consequences for patients and their families. although the topic has been the object of study in various medical schools around the world, it has still received little attention by faculty and students in brazil. the spikes protocol provides a didactic six-step approach for breaking bad news. these steps were used in the classroom by third-semester medical students at the state university of ceará, brazil. the students then evaluated the method using open-ended questions. the method was generally considered valid, despite possible limitations like the need for individualization and adaptation to each specific situation.
