An investigation of volumetric and corpus callosum dimension to detect brain disorders  [PDF]

Abstract: Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Mental retardation, Cerebral Palsy, and other Dementias are the neurogenerative brain disorders which are statistically proven that 2% - 3% of people affected in the world today. The proposed method considered the symptoms which stands distinct for Alzheimer’s disease. Many structural neuroimaging studies have found the atrophy of the Corpus Callosum (CC) and the decrease in brain volume in AD. The measurement, area has been extracted from the gradient mask of the image to characterize the local atrophy of the CC. The result showed decreased area of the CC in AD when compared to the control groups. The volume has also been calculated by volume rendering and voxel size measurement for the same set of control groups and was found to be reduced in the AD patients. These findings confirmed the pathology characteristics in AD of brain disorders. The system’s validity with respect to results obtained with conventional diagnosis has been examined and proved to offer better results.
A novel approach for detection of digestive system disorders

Abstract: The digestive system is the one of the important system in the human body, which plays major role directly or indirectly for the normal function of human body. Most of the people around the world have the digestive system disorders due to improper digestion of food due to inefficient performance of stomach activity. The main objective of this paper is to propose a novel method of finding the digestive system disorders using Electrogastrogram [EGG], which is a non-invasive, cheap and painless method by detecting the electrical signal from the stomach cutaneously and also it acts as a preliminary investigation without a need for Endoscopy which is painful investigation. The recording setup explained in this proposed system includes LabVIEW software and hardware which is used to record the EGG for more than hundred patients, nearly 75% of the patients suffered from digestive system disorders, such as Dyspepsia, Stomach ulcer, nausea, cyclic vomiting syndrome, etc. For the above said digestive system disorders dissimilarity is found in its frequency and amplitude is compared with its normal individual parameter (3cpm) at a fair amount of accuracy.

Abstract: This paper may deals with the miscellaneous troubles that may be occurs during the irrevocable compression applied on an encrypted grayscale image. This work is a comparative learn with diverse methods of irrevocable compression such as Compressive sensing technique and Iterative reconstruction technique on encrypted grayscale image. But they practiced a multiplicity of limitations. The major obscurity is to achieve higher compression ratio as well as the better quality of the reconstructed image. The higher compression ratio and the smoother the original image may furnish the better quality of the reconstructed image.
Investigation of digestive system disorders with electrogastrogram using wavelet transform denoising

Abstract: A digestive system disorders are the very important problem in human being universally. As apanacea, a preliminary investigation method is proposed before the endoscopy procedure is calledElectrogastrography. Electrogastrogram [EGG] is obtained from the human being cutaneously, which is noninvasive,easy procedure over endoscopy. EGG recorded for a 180 human being includes the normalindividual and patients with digestive system disorder such us Nausea, Dyspepsia, Vomiting, ulcer, etc. Adatabase is created for the analysis purpose. During the acquisition of EGG, the analog signal’s numericvalues are recorded as .bio file format using the data scope. Wavelet transform is used for the analysis ofEGG to find the deviation in frequency and Power from the power spectrum estimate plot obtained fordisorders patients compare to normal Individual. Wavelet Transform analysis includes the principlecomponent analysis, denosing of the signal and power spectrum estimation. In the proposed waveletanalysis, the data of a patient or normal individual is included for analysis. The EGG signal is reconstructedwith a data obtained from the data scope. This signal undergoes principle component analysis to remove thenoise in the EGG signal to obtain de-noised signal and it is plotted for power spectral density estimation withWelch power spectral Density Estimation. As a result of the proposed method the power variation is found tobe a range of 40-52dB and frequency is detected as 0.06 Hz to 0.075Hz for ulcer patient 0.02 Hz to 0.04 Hzfor dyspepsia patient and 0.05Hz to 0.058 Hz for Normal Individual. The above said finding supports thephysician in the diagnosis of digestive system disorders at fair amount of accuracy.
RF phase shifter using MEMS switches on a tapered coplanar waveguide

Abstract: This paper presents the analysis and design of tapered coplanar waveguide based RF phase shifter using MEMSswitches for microwave and millimeter-wave applications. The equivalent circuit of the phase shifter has been analyzed withthe capacitances of MEMS switches in both up and down states. A control voltage applied between the center conductorand the switch’s membrane actuates it and pulls down the membrane, creating a slow-wave transmission line. The loadingcapacitance gets added up with the line capacitance, thus varying the characteristic impedance of the line. This change inimpedance varies the phase velocity, thereby producing a phase shift. The use of tapered coplanar waveguide as an alternative to the conventional waveguide produces an increase in phase shift per unit length with a small increase in insertion loss.By accurate design of the taper sections, the losses can be reduced further.

Abstract:

The paper addresses the constrained mean-semivariance portfolio optimization problem with the support of a novel multi-objective evolutionary algorithm (n-MOEA). The use of semivariance as the risk quantification measure and the real world constraints imposed to the model make the problem difficult to be solved with exact methods. Thanks to the exploratory mechanism, n-MOEA concentrates the search effort where is needed more and provides a well formed efficient frontier with the solutions spread across the whole frontier. We also provide evidence for the robustness of the produced non-dominated solutions by carrying out, out-of-sample testing during both bull and bear market conditions on FTSE-100.

Design of a Cantilever - Type Rotating Bending Fatigue Testing Machine  [PDF]

Abstract: This research is centered on the design of a low–cost cantilever loading rotating bending fatigue testing machine using locally sourced materials. The design principle was based on the adaptation of the technical theory of bending of elastic beams. Design drawings were produced and components/materials selections were based on functionality, durability, cost and local availability. The major parts of the machine: the machine main frame, the rotating shaft, the bearing and the bearing housing, the specimen clamping system, pulleys, speed counter, electric motor, and dead weights; were fabricated and then assembled following the design specifications. The machine performance was evaluated using test specimens which were machined in conformity with standard procedures. It was observed that the machine has the potentials of generating reliable bending stress – number of cycles data; and the cost of design (171,000 Naira) was lower in comparison to that of rotating bending machines from abroad. Also the machine has the advantages of ease of operation and maintenance, and is safe for use.
Wireless Sensor Network Lifetime Enhancement Using Modified Clustering and Scheduling Algorithm  [PDF]

Abstract: Random distribution of sensor nodes in large scale network leads redundant nodes in the application field. Sensor nodes are with irreplaceable battery in nature, which drains the energy due to?repeated collection of data and decreases network lifetime. Scheduling algorithms are the one way?of addressing this issue. In proposed method, an optimized sleep scheduling used to enhance the?network lifetime. While using the scheduling algorithm, the target coverage and data collection?must be maintained throughout the network. In-network, aggregation method also used to remove the unwanted information in the collected data in level. Modified clustering algorithm?highlights three cluster heads in each cluster which are separated by minimum distance between them.?The simulation results show the 20% improvement in network lifetime, 25% improvement in?throughput and 30% improvement in end to end delay.
