Abstract: this work was carried out under green house condition at the embrapa cassava and tropical fruit crops, cruz das almas - bahia- brazil, aiming to identify citrus rootstocks better adapted to coastal table land ecosystem as for their drought tolerance. it was studied the rangpur lime, volkamer lemon, sour orange and the trifoliated hybrids htr - 051, tsk x cttr - 002, and tsk x cttr - 017, the last three from the breeding program of the embrapa cassava and tropical fruits crops. the experimental design was completely randomized under a 6 x 9 factorial, with six genotypes and nine period of evaluations. the evaluations followed the sequence: irrigation, water deficit, and irrigation when the plants had two to three leaves pairs. it was analyzed the variables root dry matter, dry matter of above ground parts, plant water potential, and leaf transpiration. for the above ground dry matter the genotypes volkamer lemon and sour orange showed decrease during the water deficit condition. the other genotypes showed no significant differences for this variable. without irrigation, all genotypes decreased in their water potentials. the hybrids kept it unchanged maintaining increased transpiration rates. the hybrids htr - 051, and tsk x cttr - 017 presented the best performances for all variables studied being more promising as rootstocks for water deficit conditions.

Abstract: aiming the identification of citrus varieties better adapted to coastal table lands, considering their potential use as rootstocks, the performance of different genotypes for drought tolerance was evaluated, considering their physiological indices related to the growth analyses. the study was carried out in a greenhouse condition of the embrapa cassava & tropical fruits. six genotypes were studied: rangpur lime, volkamer lemon, sour orange, and the hybrids htr - 051, tsk ? cttr - 002 and tsk ? cttr - 017, all from the citrus breeding program of the embrapa cassava & tropical fruits. seedlings were grown in plantmaxa growing media, irrigated adequately until they showed two pairs of true leaves. afterward, they were transplanted to containers with the same growing media, but chemically fertilized. seedlings were irrigated until sampling began. the experimental design was completely randomized under a 6 ? 7 factorial, corresponding to six genotypes and seven evaluation sampling dates. the evaluations were carried out for seedlings under irrigation, water deficit, and re-watering. it was evaluated dry matter accumulation (dm), for their different fractions (root and above ground), and leaf area (la) as the bases for the determination of the physiological indices: leaf area ratio (lar), net assimilation rate (nar) and relative growth ratio (rgr). it could be concluded that the hybrid htr - 051 presented less sensibility to the water deficit, suggesting that it could be indicated as a promissory citrus rootstock for water deficit conditions.
Slow Plasma Dynamo Driven by Electric Current Helicity in Non-Compact Riemann Surfaces of Negative Curvature  [PDF]
Luiz Carlos Garcia de Andrade
Journal of Modern Physics (JMP) , 2010, DOI: 10.4236/jmp.2010.15046
Abstract: Boozer addressed the role of magnetic helicity in dynamos [1]. He pointed out that the magnetic helicity conservation implies that the dynamo action is more easily attainable if the electric potential varies over the surface of the dynamo. This provided motivated us to investigate dynamos in Riemannian curved surfaces [2]. Thiffeault and Boozer [3] discussed the onset of dissipation in kinematic dynamos. In this paper, when curvature is constant and negative, a simple laminar dynamo solution is obtained on the flow topology of a Poincare disk, whose Gauss curvature is K = –1. By considering a laminar plasma dynamo [4] the electric current helicity λ ≈ 2.34 m–1 for a Reynolds magnetic number of Rm ≈ 210 and a growth rate of magnetic field |γ| ≈ 0.022 are obtained. Negative constant curvature non-compact H2 manifold, has also been used in onecomponent electron 2D plasma by Fantoni and Tellez [5]. Chicone et al. (CMP (1997)) showed fast dynamos can be supported in compact H2. PACS: 47.65.Md.
Broken Symmetries in Spacetime with Torsion and Galactic Magnetic Fields without Dynamo Amplification  [PDF]
L. C. Garcia de Andrade
International Journal of Astronomy and Astrophysics (IJAA) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ijaa.2012.23022
Abstract: Since Kostelecky et al [Phys Rev Lett 100, 111102 (2008)], have shown that there is an intimate connection between spacetime with torsion and the possibility of constraining it to Lorentz violation, a renewed interest in torsion theories of gravity has arised. In this paper, minimal coupling between photons on a torsioned background is shown to allow us to obtain the galactic magnetic field strength μG without dynamo amplification. This agrees with recent results by Jimenez and Maroto (2011) for spiral galaxies, with galactic magnetic field constraints from Dark matter without dy- namo amplification. The approach discussed here allow us to get rid of the unpleasant photon mass by simply consider- ing the Lagrangean cut off for second order torsion terms. Therefore though the gauge and Lorentz symmetries are bro- ken here one does not have to deal with photon masses.
The Efficiency of CP-Violating α2-Dynamos from Primordial Cosmic Axion Oscillation with Torsion  [PDF]
L. C. Garcia de Andrade
International Journal of Astronomy and Astrophysics (IJAA) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ijaa.2015.51008
Abstract: Recently torsion fields were introduced in CP-violating cosmic axion a2-dynamos [Garcia de Andrade, Mod Phys Lett A, (2011)] in order to obtain Lorentz violating bounds for torsion. Here instead, oscillating axion solutions of the dynamo equation with torsion modes [Garcia de Andrade, Phys Lett B (2012)] are obtained taking into account dissipative torsion fields. Magnetic helicity torsion oscillatory contribution is also obtained. Note that the torsion presence guarantees dynamo efficiency when axion dynamo length is much stronger than the torsion length. Primordial axion oscillations due to torsion yield a magnetic field of 109 G at Nucleosynthesis epoch. This is obtained due to a decay of BBN magnetic field of 1015 G induced by torsion. Since torsion is taken as 10–20 s–1, the dynamo efficiency is granted over torsion damping. Of course dynamo efficiency is better in the absence of torsion. In the particular case when the torsion is obtained from anomalies it is given by the gradient of axion scalar [Duncan et al., Nuclear Phys B 87, 215] that a simpler dynamo equation is obtained and dynamo mechanism seems to be efficient when the torsion helicity, is negative while magnetic field decays when the torsion is positive. In this case an extremely huge value for the magnetic field of 1015 Gauss is obtained. This is one order of magnitude greater than the primordial magnetic fields of the domain wall. Actually if one uses tDW ~ 10-4 s one obtains BDW ~ 1022 G which is a more stringent limit to the DW magnetic primordial field.

Abstract: In the first half of the of the 1960 s, tradition and modernity, engagement and fonographic industry, artistic quality and success, were not factors or conditions for the musicians of the nationalistic source of Bossa Nova. In this sketched context of artistic-cultural production, to find a form of critically acting within a market structure became one of the main objectives of the engaged intellectuality being also the nationalistic causes of the time. With these concerns, each specific individual or group , had tried to find a coherent solution for this problem: how to remain engaged and participant, in view of the cultural industry offering chances of professional recognition and financial return? In the area of music, the answers for this question depended on the trajectory and personality of each interpreter, composer or musical producer. Carlos Lyra, then, for his performance in some fronts (CPC da UNE, Teatro de Arena, Cinema Novo, among others) and for his artistic production, was one of the first musicians to demonstrate the concern with the engagement of the Bossa Nova.
The role of linguistic attitudes in the maintenance or not of the indigenous language in bilingual indigenous communities: the case Ipegue/Terena
Mariana de Souza Garcia
Via Litterae , 2009,
Abstract: This article aims at discussing the role of the linguistic attitudes in keeping or not the first language and/or bilingualism. The linguistic attitudes are dealt with from the perspective of a theoretical model that recognizes, in a situational context, the existence of external and internal factors affecting a speaking community. Focusing on minority communities and following the historical, political, and economical views, among others, this study analyses some of the linguistic attitudes from Ipegue indigenous community toward its language (Terena) and towards the contact and surrounding society language (Portuguese).
Pós-modernidade e a nega o da infancia (Post-modernity and the denial of the childhood)
Luciana Garcia de Lima
Revista Emancipa??o , 2008,
Abstract: The way that childhood’s concept has been developed may constitute an excellent projection of the values system and aspirations of a society. This evidence can be attributed to any existent concept, therefore it has a particular way of referring to something that is not only external, but to everyone’s past or even at the same time to the future of every human being group. The concept of childhood was born with the German idealist philosophy only in the end of XVII century, at the same time when the concept of the individual showed up and the development of the science had started. Considering the childhood as a socially produced concept, changing on time and space, we try to investigate in the article the influences of the society called postmodern in that period of life. In this way, our aim is to understand the elements that contribute to the denial of childhood in the current society and reflect on the con
