Psychology (PSYCH) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2012.35057
Abstract: This study examined the relationship between trait anxiety (TA) and self-controlled (SC) frequency of feedback in the acquisition of the overhead volleyball serve. Forty-eight adolescent girls performed 240 acquisition trials, with the provision of knowledge of results (KR). After 48 h, they performed 16 transfer no-KR trials. Although no interactions were found on either acquisition or transfer, the high-anxious girls requested more feedback than the low-anxious ones. Also, feedback was requested more after accurate than after inaccurate trials.
Estudo do mecanismo da hiperglicemia e da hipertens?o arterial, produzidas pelo veneno de escorpi?o, no c?o

Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 1961, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02761961000100002
Abstract: in the present paper we studied the mechanism of the hyperglycemia and hypertension evoked by the intravenous injection of scorpion venom (tityus bahiensis) in the dog. we used 34 dogs, of both sex, weighing between 4.3 to 22 kg. these animals were divided in 3 groups and the following experiments were performed: in the first group (8 dogs) the animals were adrenalectomized after the intravenous injection of chlorpromazine; in the second group (16 dogs) the animals were injected with ganglionic blocking drugs (9.295 ciba and hexamethonium); in the third group (10 dogs) the naimals were injected with dibenamine, and in 3 of them the adrenal glands were removed. the dogs of each group were injected intravenously with aqueous extract of 2 telsons of scorpion/kg; the average weight of each telson was 6,5 mg. the following results were obtained: 1) the hyperglycemia evoked by scorpion venom, in adrenalectomized dogs, was inhibited by chlorpromazine; 2) ganglionic blocking drugs (9.295 ciba and hexamthonium) were inefective as far as the hyperglycemic and pressor effects of venom are concerned; 3) in the animals treated with dibenamine, the venom produced a fall in blood pressure, both in the controle and in the adrenalectomized. the present experiments suggest that the scorpion venom has, besides the central action already described by other investigators, an adrenergic action, very similar to the adrenaline. on basis of our experiments we think that the adrenergic action is responsible, in part, by the productrion of hyperglycemia and hypertension.

Method for Estimating of Construction Cost of a Building Based on Previous Experiences  [PDF]
Cláudio Ricardo Bettini, Orlando Celso Longo, Luciane Ferreira Alcoforado, Alana Caroline Gamba Maia
Open Journal of Civil Engineering (OJCE) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/ojce.2016.65060
Abstract: In a real estate project, the estimated cost of construction and the revenues generally represent together the most important values of its feasibility study. When a decision of undertaking a project is made, often there are few definitions of what is about to be constructed, and frequently not enough to ensure the accuracy of the estimated costs. Considering a global tendency on reducing margins of return over the real estate markets, slight variations of the construction cost can jeopardize the success of the whole real estate enterprise and even the financial stability of the builder or of the developer. This article aims at presenting a method of estimating the building construction costs applicable at the stage of feasibility studies, being able to provide acceptable errors.

Cadernos de Saúde Pública , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-311X2008000900019
Abstract: professional practices reflect the structuring of health services and are related to the underlying principles of the prevailing health care model. this study focused on preventive and educational practices by dentists in the family health program in natal, rio grande do norte state, brazil. a structured interview was held with 80 dentists, in addition to analysis of documents from the outpatient database of the unified national health system (sia-sus) and the primary care database. individual activities involving orientation for oral hygiene and topical application of fluoride were reported by 87.5% and 95% of dentists, respectively. at the collective level, all the dentists that worked in schools (91.2%) performed topical fluoride application, while 86.2% conducted educational activities. according to sia-sus records, preventive activities accounted for 41% of all procedures. among these, topical application of fluoride gel per sitting and supervised brushing accounted for 24.4% and 31%, respectively. as for educational activities, 57.4% were held in the health care unit and 42.6% in the community. the findings indicate that the preventive practices focus on dental caries, particularly in schoolchildren, and that they need to be expanded to include other oral health problems.
Uso do a?afr?o (Curcuma longa L.) na redu??o da Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922) e Enterobacter aerogenes (ATCC 13048) em ricota

Abstract: considering the cheese involvement as a vehicle of pathogenic microorganisms it was evaluated the eficciency of the ethanolic turmeric extract added to ricotta, in the reduction of escherichia coli and enterobacter aerogenes. three lots of creamy ricotta were manufacturated and inoculated with 104 ufc/ml of escherichia coli (atcc 25922) and 105 ufc/ml of enterobacter aerogenes (atcc 13048). it was added 0,4% of nacl and ethanolic turmeric extract into concentrations that varied from 0.0% to 2.0% into the ricotta. the ricottas were evaluated in 0, 1, 7, 14 and 21 days under refrigerated storage. the ricotta moist percentage was of 73% in average. the average ph observed was of 5,4 and the fat percentage was of 3%. microbiological results have shown a reduction in the number of escherichia coli, after 21 days, about two logarithms cycles in treatments which 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5% and 2.0% of ethanolic turmeric extract was used. as to enterobacter aerogenes there was less reduction, at about one logarithm cycle, from 105 ufc/ml to 104 ufc/ml, also in treatments in which 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5% and 2.0% of ethanolic turmeric extract was used. although the results have shown a reduction in the number of the viable cells of the microorganisms evaluated, the ethanolic turmeric extract cannot be the single preservative means, considering a initial contamination of 104 ufc/ml of escherichia coli and 105 ufc/ml of enterobacter aerogenes for that would not be according to the current legislation referring to the microbiological cheese requirements.
