The Proto-Oncogene Int6 Is Essential for Neddylation of Cul1 and Cul3 in Drosophila
Sigal Rencus-Lazar, Yaniv Amir, Junetai Wu, Cheng-Ting Chien, Daniel A. Chamovitz, Daniel Segal
PLOS ONE , 2008, DOI: 10.1371/journal.pone.0002239
Abstract: Int6 is a proto-oncogene implicated in various types of cancer, but the mechanisms underlying its activity are not clear. Int6 encodes a subunit of the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3, and interacts with two related complexes, the proteasome, whose activity is regulated by Int6 in S. pombe, and the COP9 signalosome. The COP9 signalosome regulates the activity of Cullin-Ring Ubiquitin Ligases via deneddylation of their cullin subunit. We report here the generation and analysis of two Drosophila mutants in Int6. The mutants are lethal demonstrating that Int6 is an essential gene. The mutant larvae accumulate high levels of non-neddylated Cul1, suggesting that Int6 is a positive regulator of cullin neddylation. Overexpression in Int6 in cell culture leads to accumulation of neddylated cullins, further supporting a positive role for Int6 in regulating neddylation. Thus Int6 and the COP9 signalosome play opposing roles in regulation of cullin neddylation.
A QoS-aware Method for Web Services Discovery  [PDF]
Bian WU, Xincai WU
Journal of Geographic Information System (JGIS) , 2010, DOI: 10.4236/jgis.2010.21008
Abstract: The non-functional QoS (quality of service) information helps us to select a proper Web-service from the web applications, by using component services such as UDDI[1](Universal Description, Discovery, and Integration) and MDS(Monitoring and Discovery System). MDS is a suite of web services to monitor and discover resources and service on Grids, but MDS only based on function aspects. This paper studies on an approach to provide the QoS information and a discovery model by using MDS and gives a system deployment and implementation plan. The simulation results show that the method is effective in service discovery.

Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/am.2018.98061
The eccentric connectivity index and connective eccentricity index are important topological indices for chemistry. In this paper, we investigate the eccentric connectivity index and connective eccentricity index of boron-nitrogen fullerenes, respectively. And we give computing formulas of eccentric connectivity index and connective eccentricity index of all boron-nitrogen fullerenes with regular structure.
Evaluation of Medical College Students’ Entrepreneurial Skills and Its Relationship with Social Intelligence  [PDF]
Jin Wu, Linze Wu
Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2019.74002
Abstract: Social intelligence and entrepreneurial skills are important factors influencing individual academic performance and career development. Studies have shown that people with high social intelligence have the ability to understand and manage others and have an advantage in innovation. The entrepreneurial personality trait is precisely the courage to innovate. Therefore, there is a close relationship between entrepreneurship and social intelligence. In this study, the author explores the relationship between students’ social intelligence level and entrepreneurial skills based on medical college students. This study used a cross-sectional descriptive method for related research. The results showed that the overall scores of the entrepreneurial skills assessment criteria of the students were lower. This shows that students’ performance levels of entrepreneurial skills are relatively weak. This result shows that we need to further improve the entrepreneurial skills of medical university students and take the necessary measures to improve students’ social intelligence.
Optimal Scheduling Strategy for Energy Consumption Minimization of Hydro-Thermal Power Systems  [PDF]
Jiekang WU
Energy and Power Engineering (EPE) , 2009, DOI: 10.4236/epe.2009.11009
Abstract: A comparison analysis based method for computing the water consumption volume needed for electric energy production of optimal scheduling in hydro-thermal power systems is presented in this paper. The electric energy produced by hydroelectric plants and coal-fired plants is divided into 4 components: potential energy, kinetic energy, water-deep pressure energy and reservoir energy. A new and important concept, reservoir energy, is proposed, based on which is divided into a number of water bodies, for example 3 water bodies, and a reservoir is analyzed in a new way. This paper presents an optimal scheduling solution of elec-tric energy production of hydro-thermal power systems based on multi-factors analytic method, in which some important factors, such as load demand, reservoir in-flow, water consumption volume increment rate of hydroelectric plants or converted from coal-fired plants, and so on are given to model the objective function and the constraints. A study example with three simulation cases is carried out to illustrate flexibility, adapta-bility, applicability of the proposed method.
Living in Second Life and Learning a Second Language: A Study on English Learning for Chinese Residents in Second Life  [PDF]
Dan Wu
Creative Education (CE) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ce.2012.34079
Abstract: This paper examines Chinese residents’ experience in learning English in the 3-D virtual world of Second Life (SL). With an introduction to the current English as a Second Language (ESL) education in China, ESL students’ demand for practice, I analyzed an online BBS created and maintained by Chinese SL residents and conducted interviews in SL to argue that there is an urgent need among Chinese ESL learners to practice their English with native English speakers and SL can function as a platform to allow Chinese ESL learners practice with residents from all over the world with help and support provided by their online learning communities such as BBS or SL friends groups.
Construction of a System of Reciprocal Recognition of Civil Case Jurisdiction among China, Japan and ROK  [PDF]
Yueyao Wu
Beijing Law Review (BLR) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/blr.2012.32007
Abstract: The aim of the paper is to offer advice about setting on investigating feasibility of a legal system about the reciprocal recognition of civil case jurisdiction among East Asia region. The present conditions for the recognition of foreign jurisdiction in East Asia states are on the whole similar and this is an advantage for the construction of a unified mechanism. This paper gives three selected models of reciprocal recognition of civil case jurisdiction, which are bilateral judicial assistance treaty, regional multilateral treaties and soften the principle of reciprocity.
Complete Convergence and Weak Law of Large Numbers for ρ-Mixing Sequences of Random Variables  [PDF]
Qunying Wu
Open Journal of Statistics (OJS) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ojs.2012.25062
Abstract: In this paper, the complete convergence and weak law of large numbers are established for ρ-mixing sequences of random variables. Our results extend and improve the Baum and Katz complete convergence theorem and the classical weak law of large numbers, etc. from independent sequences of random variables to ρ-mixing sequences of random variables without necessarily adding any extra conditions.
A Survey-Based Discussion on Perception and Attitude towards CSR in China  [PDF]
Yiming Wu
Creative Education (CE) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ce.2013.44040

The rapid growth of China’s economy is changing the current pattern of the international market. Nevertheless, scholars have concluded that there is a serious misconduct of CSR among Chinese enterprises. This research is conducted based on a survey to some companies in Guangdong Province to investigate the perception and attitudes of employees from enterprises towards CSR and sustainable development with focuses on three aspects which includes enterprises’ understanding of CSR, the influence of enterprises’ stakeholders on their CSR and what enterprises should do to assume CSR. It can be concluded that some enterprises have had some extent of CSR awareness and do assume CSR in their practices, however enterprises’ attention to CSR is still not sufficient enough and only confines to solving social responsibility problems that closely related to their economic interests.

A New Method of Tracking of WM Crossing Fiber Bundles Based on QBI  [PDF]
Zhanxiong Wu
Engineering (ENG) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/eng.2013.510B051

Tracking of crossing WM fiber bundles can be resolved using diffusion MRI imaging. DTI can only resolve a single fiber orientation within each voxel due to the constraints of the tensor model. DSI requires large pulsed field gradients and time-intensive sampling. This paper puts forward with a new method based on QBI, which uses a spherical tomographic inversion called Funk-Radon transform to get high angular resolution diffusion imaging signal. From the tracking results, we can get the conclusion that QBI-tracking can resolve crossing fiber time-savingly.
