Revista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-11692012000100009
Abstract: the aim was to evaluate the effectiveness of evidence implementation through participatory-action research (par). a prospective quasi-experimental design with two non-equivalent and non-concurrent groups (2006 and 2008) was adopted. the research was conducted at the bone marrow transplant unit of a tertiary-level spanish hospital. to put the evidence in practice, par was adopted as an "intervention studied". the dependent variables were: professional performance and patient outcomes (psycho-emotional area and adverse effects). in total, 125 patients were recruited (1st period=56; 2nd period=69). the results in the second period show significant improvements in professional performance in terms of the quality of the registers of signs and symptoms. in the psycho-emotional area, the psycho-social adjustment improved significantly; without caregiver burden or satisfaction showing any clear tendencies. among the adverse effects, catheter-related thrombosis and catheter-related infection improved significantly; there were no significant differences in the level of pain or mucositis. through the par, evidence could be put in practice and the outcomes under analysis could be improved.

Investigación y Educación en Enfermería , 2010,
Abstract: within the qualitative research paradigm, the participatory-action- research (par) integrates knowledge and action. it is not necessary to wait for knowledge to be produced to transfer it into practice. it is a method used for decades in disciplines such as education and sociology; however it is emerging in the health field. there are a variety of definitions, classifications and par models; this article aims to shed light upon this method of research, its history, philosophy and its use, given its potential and innovation in the field of health sciences.

Abstract: In this paper we present symbolic criteria for invariant operators on compact Lie groups characterising the Schatten classes $S_{r}(L^{2}(G))$ for all $0
Lp-Nuclearity, traces, and Grothendieck-Lidskii formula on compact Lie groups
Julio Delgado,Michael Ruzhansky
Mathematics , 2013, DOI: 10.1016/j.matpur.2013.11.005
Abstract: Given a compact Lie group $G$, in this paper we give symbolic criteria for operators to be nuclear and r-nuclear on Lp-spaces, with applications to distribution of eigenvalues and trace formulae. Since criteria in terms of kernels are often not effective in view of Carleman's example, in this paper we adopt the symbolic point of view. The criteria here are given in terms of the concept of matrix symbols defined on the non-commutative analogue of the phase space $G\times\hat{G}$, where $\hat{G}$ is the unitary dual of $G$.
Fourier multipliers, symbols and nuclearity on compact manifolds
Julio Delgado,Michael Ruzhansky
Mathematics , 2014,
Abstract: The notion of invariant operators, or Fourier multipliers, is discussed for densely defined operators on Hilbert spaces, with respect to a fixed partition of the space into a direct sum of finite dimensional subspaces. As a consequence, given a compact manifold endowed with a positive measure, we introduce a notion of the operator's full symbol adapted to the Fourier analysis relative to a fixed elliptic operator. We give a description of Fourier multipliers, or of operators invariant relative to the elliptic operator. We apply these concepts to study Schatten classes of operators and to obtain a formula for the trace of trace class operators. We also apply it to provide conditions for operators between Lp-spaces to be r-nuclear in the sense of Grothendieck.
Kernel and symbol criteria for Schatten classes and $r$-nuclearity on compact manifolds
Julio Delgado,Michael Ruzhansky
Mathematics , 2014, DOI: 10.1016/j.crma.2014.08.012
Abstract: In this note we present criteria on both symbols and integral kernels ensuring that the corresponding operators on compact manifolds belong to Schatten classes. A specific test for nuclearity is established as well as the corresponding trace formulae. In the special case of compact Lie groups, kernel criteria in terms of (locally and globally) hypoelliptic operators are also given. A notion of an invariant operator and its full symbol associated to an elliptic operator are introduced. Some applications to the study of $r$-nuclearity on $L^{p}$ spaces are also obtained.

The metric approximation property of variable Lebesgue spaces and nuclearity
Julio Delgado,Michael Ruzhansky
Mathematics , 2015,
Abstract: In this paper we prove the metric approximation property for variable exponent Lebesgue spaces, study the concept of nuclearity on such spaces and apply it to trace formulae such as the Grothendieck-Lidskii formula. We apply the obtained results to derive criteria for nuclearity and trace formulae for periodic operators on R^n.
Fast hazard evaluation employing digital photogrammetry: Popocatépetl glaciers, Mexico
Patricia Julio Miranda,Hugo Delgado Granados
Geofísica internacional , 2003,
Abstract: Lahar floods are among the main hazards originated by ice and snow melting during eruptions of glacier-clad volcanoes. Hazard evaluation can be fast and safe by using remote methods such as digital photogrammetry, using software for image processing of scanned aerial photographs. Digital photogrammetry also allows monitoring of the evolution of geological processes. Before the onset of the current eruptive activity, Popocatépetl glaciers were studied by direct methods. After December 1994, it became necessary, for safety reasons, to find a remote method to continue with the study of glacier changes. In this paper, a hazard evaluation methodology is discussed and applied to measurement of glacier areas at Popocatépetl on December 2000 with the aim to determine equivalent water volume and to estimate maximum and minimum laharic volumes for different ice-melting scenarios. Our results show that even a 100% ice melting would not produce a laharic event of the size of the catastrophic lahars at Nevado del Ruíz or San Nicolás.
