O conceito de liberdade na dialética negativa de Theodor Adorno
Chaves, Juliana de Castro;
Psicologia & Sociedade , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-71822010000300004
Abstract: this theoretical article discusses some ideas of theodor adorno about freedom, as part of the critical theory of society, developed by the frankfurt school. this discussion aims to provide some tools to social psychology, since this theme has not been frequently discussed. in order to carry out this theoretical research, adorno's major work, negative dialectics, was selected inasmuch as it approaches this issue more profoundly. adorno points out the maleficence of freedom restraint due to individual, metaphysical, material, ontological, or empirical criteria. for him, although freedom is experienced by the individual, it possesses a close connection with mankind, since it is related to ethical, private, and universal matters. after all, freedom is the principle that should guide moral actions.

American Journal of Plant Sciences (AJPS) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ajps.2013.44104

Although nowadays there are methods for determining the Minimal Bactericidal Concentration and Minimal Fungicidal Concentration, it is indispensable that the establishment of innovative methodologies could be more practical and cheaper. The new methodology Flash microbiocide is an assay in which one aliquot from 96 well plate of Minimal Inhibitory Concentration test is transferred to another plate containing different culture medium. The correspondence with the reference methods described in the National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards (NCCLS-CLSI) document M26-A was achieved, denoting the efficiency of this fast and simple method.

Health (Health) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/health.2014.611146
Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of dyslipidemias and related factors, in Brazilian adolescents from rural and urban areas. This is a cross-sectional study with 182 adolescents aged 10 to 13 years, students, residing in the rural and urban area of Brazil; grouped according to age, gender and socioeconomic class. Sexual maturation, physical activity, blood pressure, nutritional status and body composition were evaluated. Total cholesterol, LDL, HDL and serum triglycerides were dosed. The food frequency questionnaire was applied, quantifying energy, carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, full fat and fibers. Bivariate and multiple analyses were carried out, by logistic regression. It was verified that 84.6% (n = 154) adolescents presented some lipid profile alteration. There was no difference in the lipid profile between adolescents for residence place. However, as for gender, it was noticed that girls presented higher levels of total cholesterol and HDL (p < 0.05). In addition, adolescents with excess weight and body fat showed lower HDL and higher triglycerides values compared with eutrophic and with those with appropriate body fat percentage (p < 0.05). In the multiple analyses, it was observed that gender and signs of sexual maturation were associated with total cholesterol; fiber intake remained associated with HDL and signs of sexual maturation with LDL (p < 0.05). For triglycerides the related factors were gender, nutritional status and protein intake (p < 0.05). The elevated prevalence of dyslipidemias found between adolescents from rural and urban areas reinforces the importance of monitoring these alterations and information as for the related risk factors, with programs for correction of changeable factors.

Creative Education (CE) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ce.2015.611116
Abstract: Dyslexia is a neurological disorder of genetic origin that affects reading. Importantly, the scholar performance of the dyslexic students depends on several aspects, including the educational system and the teaching-learning process used, and the relationship with family members, teachers and other students. Thus, it is necessary to inform about approaching the issues related to dyslexia and the education of the affected people. In addition, we should raise the scientific questions about the need of this public of a greater investment on research and professional formation. In this paper, we reviewed some specific topics of dyslexia, such as the neurological profile and the educational needs of those affected by this disorder to clarify the issues that surround and complicate the process of teaching and learning of these individuals that still need help and a creative education.
Inova??o tecnológica e inova??o narrativa: caminhos para o design no polo moveleiro de Ubá
Castro, Maria Luiza A. C. de;Cardoso, Juliana;
Intera??es (Campo Grande) , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1518-70122010000200009
Abstract: the furniture industry of ubá has presented a major economic development in recent years. however, the analysis of the local production shows that there is no differentiation through design and competitiveness has been based on lower costs. the proposals that have been made to reposition the local production and conquer more demanding markets will ask for the development of new strategies in design, so that it can become a distinctive element in the local production.
Characterization of two full-sized P elements from Drosophila sturtevanti and Drosophila prosaltans
Castro, Juliana Polachini de;Carareto, Claudia M.A.;
Genetics and Molecular Biology , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S1415-47572004000300011
Abstract: previously, only partial p element sequences have been reported in the saltans group of drosophila but in this paper we report two complete p element sequences from drosophila sturtevanti and drosophila prosaltans. the divergence of these sequences from the canonical p element of drosophila melanogaster is about 31% at the nucleotide level. phylogenetic analysis revealed that both elements belong to a clade of divergent sequences from the saltans and willistoni groups previously described by other authors.
Imposex in Thais rustica (Mollusca: Neogastropoda) (Lamark, 1822) as an indicator of organotin compounds pollution at Maceio coast (Northeastern Brazil)
Camillo, Edmundo;Quadros, Juliana;Castro, ítalo Braga de;Fernandez, Marcos;
Brazilian Journal of Oceanography , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S1679-87592004000200002
Abstract: the use of otc (organotin compounds) as biocides in naval antifouling paints causes impacts on non-target organisms. one of these impacts is a syndrome called imposex in gastropod molluscs. imposex is the imposition of male secondary sexual characteristics in female gastropods as result of endocrine disruption. in this preliminary study, imposex was observed in four out of ten sampled stations in maceió: the city port (100% females exhibited imposex), the marine emissary (23% females exhibited imposex), the marine terminal (35% females exhibited imposex) and saco da pedra beach (12% females exhibited imposex). these stations were distributed in a ne-sw orientation from the port southwards along the coastline, following the general circulation pattern of the area. the low values of vdsi, rpsi and rpli indicate that maceió coast is a less contaminated area, probably because of low shipping activities together with the fact that the sampling zone is an open coastal system and not an enclosed bay. these results suggest that the imposex development in thais rustica may be used as a biological indicator of otc pollution.
Reprodutibilidade de uma escala odontológica proposta como indicador de saúde bucal em crian?as e adolescentes HIV+/SIDA
Campos,Juliana Alvares Duarte Bonini; Loffredo,Leonor de Castro Monteiro;
Ciência & Saúde Coletiva , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-81232010000400032
Abstract: the aim of this study was to investigate the intraobserver reproducibility of a portuguese version scale used to evaluate aspects of oral health among children and adolescents hiv+. the scale was proposed by balbo and a questionnaire was applied in two occasions, within a one week period, to 27 children and adolescents. the reproducibility was estimated by kappa statistics by point (k). with relation to the mother, it was reached a maximum of agreement for items related to the importance of maintaining the oral health, diary tooth brushing and the individual utilization of dental brush; breath and esthetics presented a good agreement. regarding the children, a regular agreement was observed on the dental floss use. in contrast, the respondents had difficulties in reporting the name and address of the professionals that gave guidance in prevention activities to them. the k-values for perception, care and promotion were 0.48, 0.21 and 0.64 respectively, pointing to reproducibility levels classified as regular, fair and good. given the different levels of reproducibility offered by the dental scale for hiv+ oral health, we suggest that it could be modified, especially in the domain of care.
A disciplina de leitura: ritmo e oralidade na voz do texto
Castro, Juliana de Miranda e;Lo Bianco, Anna Carolina;
Psicologia & Sociedade , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-71822009000400014
Abstract: taking into account that psychoanalytic practice involves a careful way of reading, the present article approaches the listening of what is said as part of the reading of a text. it uses the concepts of meschonnic to circumscribe a fundamental element: the oral dimension which is considered the 'voice' of a text. this dimension helps the text to maintain a live characteristic as well as its enunciation which leads to the unconscious. it uses the notion of rhythm that implies a scansion made in the text that makes for the appearance of the voice. it then emphasizes that a rhythm can be attached to the treatment, in accordance to czermak, which implies a strict discipline of reading. from that point the conditions are offered to a subject for him/her to occupy an ethical position that implies becoming subjected to the voice of his/her own text.
