Division-Algebras/Poincare-Conjecture Correspondence  [PDF]
Juan Antonio Nieto
Journal of Modern Physics (JMP) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/jmp.2013.48A005
Abstract:

We briefly describe the importance of division algebras and Poincaré conjecture in both mathematical and physical scenarios. Mathematically, we argue that using the torsion concept one can combine the formalisms of division algebras and Poincaré conjecture. Physically, we show that both formalisms may be the underlying mathematical tools in special relativity and cosmology. Moreover, we explore the possibility that by using the concept of n-qubit system, such conjecture may allow generalization the Hopf maps.

Some Mathematical and Physical Remarks on Surreal Numbers  [PDF]
Juan Antonio Nieto
Journal of Modern Physics (JMP) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/jmp.2016.715188
Abstract: We make a number of observations on Conway surreal number theory which may be useful, for further developments, in both mathematics and theoretical physics. In particular, we argue that the concepts of surreal numbers and matroids can be linked. Moreover, we established a relation between the Gonshor approach on surreal numbers and tensors. We also comment about the possibility to connect surreal numbers with supersymmetry. In addition, we comment about possible relation between surreal numbers and fractal theory. Finally, we argue that the surreal structure may provide a different mathematical tool in the understanding of singularities in both high energy physics and gravitation.
The contribution of functional neurosurgery to the understanding of the physiopathology of Parkinson’s disease  [PDF]
Juan Antonio Barcia, Fernando Alonso-Frech
Advances in Parkinson's Disease (APD) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/apd.2013.23017
Abstract: Functional neurosurgery is nowadays a recognized treatment for advanced Parkinson’s disease with pharmacologically uncontrolled symptoms. This procedure brings us the unique opportunity to deepen in the knowledge of PD’s physiopathology by recording patients’ neural activity, and possibly in the future it will let us select the appropriate target and the optimal chronic stimulation pattern.
La menopausia puesta al día
Yabur,Juan Antonio;
Gaceta Médica de Caracas , 2006,
Abstract: summary populations are in a frank aging process. in the world, there are around 700 millions of women with more than 50 years old. in venezuela the 9.4 % of the total population, approximately 2.2 millions, is represented per by women having 45 or more years old, and a life expectancy of 74.73 years. what implications does it have to prolong life further on the menopause? this increment in the expectations of life, oblige us to understand and search for solutions to the related problem like the presence of certain degenerative illnesses, like cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, alzheimer disease and breast and endometrial cancer. all of them related with the substitution of estrogens, which reduces approximately 34 % the risk of osteoporotic fracture. the possibility of raising the risk of cardiovascular disease, breast cancer and other forms of cancer with the prolonged use of hormonal replacement therapy is a topic for study and discussion. in the analyzed subjects, the average age for the spontaneous menopause was 48.7 years old, and the 83 % of these women, reported severe climacteric symptoms, with deterioration in the quality of life. with the replacement therapy the symptomatology disappeared in the first 4 weeks of treatment

Cruces normativos y dialectales en la Proclama del chusco de Arequipa (c. 1810
Frago,Juan Antonio;
Boletín de filología , 2012, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-93032012000100003
Abstract: this proclamation is part of an account from arequipa written in america by pereira pacheco, a canary islands clergyman shortly before his return to spain in 1816. in this literary satire the camanejo way of speaking, named rustic in the title, is alluded, but it does not materialize in the text. nevertheless, we can observe in it some traits of the speech found in america and in this peruvian region, full of notes characteristic of the canarian copyist. in his arequipe?o vocabulary and across noticia de arequipa, there is a lot of information about the coastal area of peru during the fight for independence, an indication of the normative and dialectal variation american spanish presents in its regions and in relation to the diatopic diversity of european spanish.
Razones de las reformas ortográficas en la América independiente y causas de su fracaso
Frago,Juan Antonio;
Boletín de filología , 2012, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-93032012000200001
Abstract: the american orthographic reforming attitude was an important aspect of the tendency towards linguistic, a central topic of the educational concern and discourse of the intellectual elites. orthography was considered as the reflection of an individual's idiomatic correctness or incorrectness, where the principal traits of hispanic american phonetics could be observed, and the definite condemnation of the non-observance of its rules is motivated by social redemption and national progress support. the reorganization and simplification of the alphabetic corpus aims at smoothing the teaching of writing with orthographic regularity, and under the ruling of the pronunciation principle some changes are justified by that form that is felt characteristic, in sarmiento sometimes with arguments to strengthen orthography as an identifying link with americanity. but reforms were born together with discussion and opposition, the most decisive of which was the extreme difficulty to bring about even the simplest of modifications in the whole of hispanic america in the xix century. it was impossible to get away from a patrimony and orthographical usages that not only belonged to the spanish academy but that were common to the hispanic world.
Sobre el espa?ol de Chile: del período colonial al independiente
Frago Gracia,Juan Antonio;
Boletín de filología , 2010, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-93032010000100004
Abstract: many aspects of the varieties of spanish from latin america can be explained by considering their historic roots. in the same way, the interpretation of modern synchrony helps to understand its diachronic precedents, including the graphemic and phonetic features of the written language. the frst part of the present article explores this issue by focusing on texts by neruda. then it compares neruda?s texts to the corpus of the chilean úrsula suárez, which draws from the frst half of the 18th century. starting from this synchronic snapshot and with the help of references from later documents, a text written in the same chile during the years of the independence is analyzed. the analysis concludes by pointing out that there are both patterns that continue as well as those that change. several of these patterns are sociolinguistic and normative in nature in the colonial spanish on the brink of the independent period. these evolutionary patterns can be applicable, in general, to all the varieties of spanish from latin america.
El espa?ol de América en la Independencia: Adiciones gramaticales I
Frago Gracia,Juan Antonio;
Boletín de filología , 2011, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-93032011000100002
Abstract: it seems to be scientifically relevant to know, in its diatopic and sociolinguistic aspects and with the utmost empirical veracity, the spanish used in an america that was politically detaching from the metropolis. not only to verify what was the authentic linguistic reality in the emancipated continental territories, but also to tackle properly three important issues concerning the general history of american spanish. in the first place, the way in which this language evolved in america as a whole during the administration of the viceroyalty, until independence was obtained. in the second place, to establish on solid grounds the study of the normative trends pervading cultivated american circles, difficult assemblage between due academicism and the simple defence of the speech of the elite, not forgetting the idiomatical practice of the people, that was nothing else than another aspect of the norm. finally, to asses what, since then, has really meant innovation, or conservation, in the spanish of americans up to now. starting from my research already published on this matter, new documentary contributions appear, so that the historical perspective becomes deeper and more transparent. it is with this purpose in mind that i provide the first additions, related to two important grammatical phenomena in the configuration of american spanish.
Historia, memoria y mito: lecturas de la Guerra Civil espa?ola
Ennis,Juan Antonio;
Olivar , 2006,
Abstract: the following article provides a brief discussion of some of the works dealing with the historical and literary writings of the spanish civil war in spain and germany, trying to formulate a number of questions that may facilitate a better understanding of recent developments in the european culture of memory. a central question that is to be discussed here is as follows: why is the word 'myth' so often associated with the remembrance of the spanish civil war, without considering the specific political orientation of each text? to illuminate the ongoing debate with regard to this and other questions, several voices - both 'active' and 'silent' - of a (hi)story that has been told in many ways.
