Abstract: For any natural number n≥1, YCΩ2n is an easy term; that is, for any λ-termM, λβ + YCΩ2n=M is consistent, where YC is Curry fixed point combinator, Ω2n≡ ω2n and ω2n=λx. xx... × (there are 2n occurrences of × after λx). This result is a partial solution to Jacopini’s conjecture: YCΩn is an easy term for any natural number n≥2.

Abstract: The full-length c DNA of a protease gene from a marine annelid Arenicola cristata was amplified through rapid amplification of c DNA ends technique and sequenced. The size of the c DNA was 936 bp in length, including an open reading frame encoding a polypeptide of 270 amino acid residues. The deduced amino acid sequnce consisted of pro- and mature sequences. The protease belonged to the serine protease family because it contained the highly conserved sequence GDSGGP. This protease was novel as it showed a low amino acid sequence similarity(< 40%) to other serine proteases. The gene encoding the active form of A. cristata serine protease was cloned and expressed in E. coli. Purified recombinant protease in a supernatant could dissolve an artificial fibrin plate with plasminogen-rich fibrin, whereas the plasminogen-free fibrin showed no clear zone caused by hydrolysis. This result suggested that the recombinant protease showed an indirect fibrinolytic activity of dissolving fibrin, and was probably a plasminogen activator. A rat model with venous thrombosis was established to demonstrate that the recombinant protease could also hydrolyze blood clot in vivo. Therefore, this recombinant protease may be used as a thrombolytic agent for thrombosis treatment. Analysis and improving ways for water condition in winter wheat field of dryland in subhumid areas of the Loess Plateau

Abstract: Based on the soil moisture data from the locating experiments from 1986—1990, and using the water balance method, the water supply and demand state in the field of winter wheat, and the ways for improving water condition in dryland of dry subhumid area of the Loess Plateau were studied. The results suggested that a low precipitation satisfying ratio of 42.9%—58.8% appears in the growing period of winter wheat, and the yield, to a great extent depended on the water that was stored in deep soil layer in the previous rainy season. The filed trial results showed that tillage in the summer fallow period,straw cover, soil moisture regulation with adequate fertilization, crop rotation and proper cropping system could be the efficient ways for improving the water condition,and for the exploitation and utilization of natural water resources(both precipitation and soil water) in the winter wheat field of dryland. 
Solution Concepts of Principal-Agent Models with Unawareness of Actions

Abstract: In numerous economic scenarios, contracting parties may not have a clear picture of all the relevant aspects. A contracting party may be unaware of what she and/or others are entitled to determine. Therefore, she may reject a contract that is too good to be true. Further, a contracting party may actively exert cognitive effort before signing a contract, so as to avoid being trapped into the contractual agreement ex post. In this paper, we propose a general framework to investigate these strategic interactions with unawareness, reasoning and cognition and intend to unify the solution concepts in the contracting context with unawareness. We build our conceptual framework upon the classical principal-agent relationship and compare the behaviors under various degrees of the unaware agent’s sophistication.
A Report on the Breast Development of Healthy Females of the Right Age in Different Regions  [PDF]

Abstract: Objective: To observe the state of breast development of the healthy females of the right age in different regions. Methods: We randomly chose 1540 of 18 - 25 years old unmarried or married healthy females of the right age from both Guangxi and Yunnan provinces separately for regular checkups. Also we took notes on these females’ height and chest circumference and other indexes. According to the perfect chest circumference of Chinese females in relation to height, namely this relational expression—Standard Circumference = Height × 0.53, we evaluated the basic state of breast development of females from the two areas and then presented related research conclusions. Results: After the statistical analyses on every index of 1540 cases of healthy females of the right age from the two areas each, we found that the breast development of healthy women of the right age in Yunnan is more perfect than that of Guangxi, and in comparison to every index, there is a remarkable difference, and that is, P < 0.01. Conclusions: The state of breast development of healthy females of the right age is different in different areas. Some breasts are especially big; some are a little bit smaller; some are proper and some are relatively flat; also some breasts are strong while some are pendulous. In a word, there are some differences. These differences exist not only inChinabut also in every part of the world. The female whose chest circumference tends to be more close to the perfect is more likely to be more confident and more active, and also her life is full of sensibility and charm.
An analysis of farmers' perception of the new cooperative medical system in Liaoning Province, China

Abstract: The data for this study were collected from a survey involving twenty counties in Liaoning Province. Interviews and focus groups were conducted between 10th January and 20th August 2008. A total of 2,780 people aged 18-72 were randomly selected and interviewed. Data were evaluated by nonparametric tests and ordinal regression models.71.6% of the study subjects were satisfied with the NRCMS. Single factor analysis showed that attitudes towards the NRCMS were influenced by gender, age, marital status, and self-rated health status. In the ordinal regression analysis, gender, age, and self-rated health status affect satisfaction (P < 0.05).We found that a considerable proportion of farmers were satisfied with the NRCMS. Gender, age, and self-rated health status had significant effects on farmers' attitudes towards the NRCMS. The Chinese Central Government attempted to adopt active measures in the future to continuously improve the NRCMS, including initiating educational programs, building new medical facilities and increasing financial investment.The New Cooperative Medical System (NCMS) is a main component of the Chinese new rural medical insurance system. Abstract: Interdependence theory presents a logical analysis of the interdependent relationship betweens individuals. During its historical development, the theory gradually advanced its research methods, from outcome matrix to a transition list, which in turn pushed the theory forward. Via its advancement, the theory shifted its static SABI model into the dynamic transformation processes in which individual social recognition and motivation are embodied in the interpersonal situations. The SABI model thus was complemented and extended more deeply.
Effects of Microwave Frequency on Electron Energy Distribution Function and Air Breakdown Using the Fluid Model

Abstract: The non-equilibrium electron energy distribution function (EEDF) obtained via solving the Boltzmann equation is introduced into the fluid model, and the effects of the microwave frequency on the EEDF and air breakdown are investigated. Numerical simulations show that the breakdown threshold of the fluid model with the non-equilibrium EEDF agrees well with that of the reported experiments. The microwave frequency plays an important role on the shape of the non-equilibrium EEDF at low pressures. The breakdown time at the low pressures predicted by the Maxwellian EEDF is shorter than that from the non-equilibrium EEDF in low-frequency oscillating fields, while matches the latter in high-frequency oscillating fields.

Abstract: The study of the collaboration, coordination and negotiation among different agents in a multi-agent system (MAS) has always been the most challenging yet popular in the research of distributed artificial intelligence. In this paper, we will suggest for RoboCup simulation, a typical MAS, a general decision-making model, rather than define a different algorithm for each tactic (e.g. ball handling, pass, shoot and interception, etc.) in soccer games as most RoboCup simulation teams did. The general decision-making model is based on two critical factors in soccer games: the vertical distance to the goal line and the visual angle for the goalpost. We have used these two parameters to formalize the defensive and offensive decisions in RoboCup simulation and the results mentioned above had been applied in NOVAURO?, original name is UJDB, a RoboCup simulation team of Jiangsu University, whose decisionmaking model, compared with that of Tsinghua University, the world champion team in 2001, is a universal model and easier to be implemented.
A Highly Sensitive Method for Quantitative Determination of L-Amino Acid Oxidase Activity Based on the Visualization of Ferric-Xylenol Orange Formation

Abstract: L-amino acid oxidase (LAAO) has important biological roles in many organisms, thus attracting great attention from researchers to establish its detection methods. In this study, a new quantitative in-gel determination of LAAO activity based on ferric-xylenol orange (FeIIIXO) formation was established. This method showed that due to the conversion of FeII to FeIII by H2O2 and subsequent formation of FeIIIXO complex halo in agar medium, the logarithm of H2O2 concentration from 5 to 160 μM was linearly correlated to the diameter of purplish red FeIIIXO halo. By extracting the LAAO-generated H2O2 concentration, the LAAO activity can be quantitatively determined. This FeIIIXO agar assay is highly sensitive to detect H2O2 down to micromolar range. More importantly, it is easy to handle, cheap, reproducible, convenient and accurate. Coupled with SDS-PAGE, it can directly be used to determine the number and approximate molecular weight of LAAO in one assay. All these features make this in-gel FeIIIXO assay useful and convenient as a general procedure for following enzyme purification, assaying fractions from a column, or observing changes in activity resulting from enzyme modifications, hence endowing this method with broad applications.
