Drag Coefficients of Golf Balls  [PDF]
Peter E. Jenkins, Joseph Arellano, Mark Ross, Matthew Snell
World Journal of Mechanics (WJM) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/wjm.2018.86019
Abstract: Drag across a golf ball can affect distance traveled when hitting a ball. An average golf ball will have a drag coefficient of, 0.24 < CD < 0.7, in a Reynolds number range of 30,000 < ReD < 108,000. This paper investigates the effect of dimple patterns on the boundary layer around a ball. Changing the depth of the dimple will cause a change to the drag coefficient. A deeper dimple pattern will cause a larger drag coefficient at higher velocities, u > 35 m/s. This research found that a significantly deeper dimple pattern will greatly affect the boundary layer, thus changing the drag coefficient and boundary layer.

Abstract: the nacreous shell of the tropical pacific mollusc pinctada mazatlanica was widely used by the ancient inhabitants of mexico. around 600 pieces made of this shell have been found in offerings buried in the great temple of tenochtitlan. most of these objects come from the ivth construction stage (1440-1481), prior to the conquest of the pacific coast by the aztecs. it was previously thought that the considerably smaller numbers found in the following stages were due to the greater degree of destruction suffered by the temple. nevertheless, the almost complete absence of this material in nine offerings found recently corresponding to the viith construction stage (1502-1521), raise other possibilities. in this work two different hypotheses are presented to explain this observation.

The nacreous shell of the tropical Pacific mollusc Pinctada mazatlanica was widely used by the ancient inhabitants of Mexico.

Alberto Arellano Ríos
Open Journal of Political Science (OJPS) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ojps.2015.51004
Abstract: This paper analyzes the political change in Jalisco, Mexico. It is a panoramic work that evaluates a democratic transition at the subnational level. The work focuses on the structures of authority of the local political regime. The analytical framework used is the one proposed by Leonardo Morlino. It analyzes the document and describes the political and institutional framework of the governments divided and unified, the relationship between the powers, among other aspects.
Metropolitan Coordination in Mexico  [PDF]
Alberto Arellano Ríos
Current Urban Studies (CUS) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/cus.2015.31002
Abstract:
This paper reflects the theme of metropolitan coordination in Mexico. The Metropolitan phenomenon has been established as an urbanely complex and social reality. In this sense, this paper contextualizes this phenomenon in Mexico, and public policies in metropolitan areas are designed and formulated. Finally, it is that the problem is intergovernmental coordination so questions of institutional design than the subjects of planning or land use must be considered more.
Identification of Tetranectin as a Potential Biomarker for Metastatic Oral Cancer
Martha E. Arellano-Garcia,Roger Li,Xiaojun Liu,Yongming Xie,Xiaofei Yan,Joseph A. Loo,Shen Hu
International Journal of Molecular Sciences , 2010, DOI: 10.3390/ijms11093106
Abstract: Lymph node involvement is the most important predictor of survival rates in patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). A biomarker that can indicate lymph node metastasis would be valuable to classify patients with OSCC for optimal treatment. In this study, we have performed a serum proteomic analysis of OSCC using 2-D gel electrophoresis and liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry. One of the down-regulated proteins in OSCC was identified as tetranectin, which is a protein encoded by the CLEC3B gene (C-type lectin domain family 3, member B). We further tested the protein level in serum and saliva from patients with lymph-node metastatic and primary OSCC. Tetranectin was found significantly under-expressed in both serum and saliva of metastatic OSCC compared to primary OSCC. Our results suggest that serum or saliva tetranectin may serve as a potential biomarker for metastatic OSCC. Other candidate serum biomarkers for OSCC included superoxide dismutase, ficolin 2, CD-5 antigen-like protein, RalA binding protein 1, plasma retinol-binding protein and transthyretin. Their clinical utility for OSCC detection remains to be further tested in cancer patients.
Arellano, Antonio;
História, Ciências, Saúde-Manguinhos , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-59702011000300013
Abstract: within the social sciences, the standardized notion of representation refers to knowledge expressed through language and sourced from supra-individual thought processes. this notion underscores the social foundation of knowledge while minimizing its inherent material and symbolic foundations, without which it cannot be wholly understood. the article argues that the circulation of heterogeneous inscriptions underpins the elaboration of representations. to demonstrate this, i analyze practices intended to improve a therapeutic treatment for kidney stones and show how scientists place a series of objects, animals, models, texts, and so on in circulation, eventually transformed into the mathematic representation of a treatment.
NOTICIAS DE JUAN RECIO DE LEóN, DESCUBRIDOR Y REPOBLADOR EN TIPUANE, CHUNCHOS Y PAITITE (actual Bolivia)
Arellano,Ignacio;
Alpha (Osorno) , 2011, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-22012011000200017
Abstract: the article offers an approximation to the figure of juan recio de león, discoverer and settler of tipuane, chunchos and paitite, and to his memorials, particularly his relación de los servicios que juan recio de león… ha hecho a su majestad de más de veinte a?os a esta parte and breve relación, both of 1623. these texts have special interest because of the information that they present about the flora, fauna and the customs of the natives.
Arellano,Diana;
Av?? , 2009,
Abstract: when social anthropology addresses the topic of estate's violence, generally the respondents are victims of such violence. usually, the researchers and the scientific community shared an ethical position against the violation of human rights and therefore one of the main problems in this situation is to learn how to listen to the suffering with enough emotional distance. in this article i propose to analyze ethnographic interview protocols, when such emphatic relation is not present, when the respondent is an 'other moral being' (e.g one of perpetrators of estate's violence) who seeks the ethnographer and makes him to face the narrative of such violence.
Arellano,Javier;
Colombia Internacional , 2008,
Abstract: the renewed importance of mining in the peruvian economy and the expectation of new investments in the sector have nourished the hope of reducing the poverty levels and overcoming political instability. that is why peru maintains itself within orthodox politics and economy. recent governments have kept a strict macroeconomic stability and, since 2001, they have encouraged a political agenda that stresses decentralisation, participation, and collaboration between private initiatives and public institutions. however, the increase of conflicts around mining operations questions the capacity of mining to promote development. i contend that in the context of a state with important limitations, the simplistic implementation of the new political agenda generates a new form of "curse of the resources" that consists of two changes: a) the appearance of new political actors; b) the emergence of the sub-national level as the crucial space in which this "curse" is manifested.
