Abstract: this article reports on the experiences of the human rights in schools project in the creation and conduction of a teacher education course aiming at the dissemination of the ideals and values of human rights, democracy and citizenship as guiding principles for each and every school practice, and not just for pedagogical discourses. it must be said that such objective constitutes a great challenge, given the historical features of the brazilian school and of the brazilian society at large. against the backdrop of that challenge, the text summarizes the principles, activities, and reflections resulting from the most significant experiences of the first three years of work of this project in schools belonging to the state and municipal networks in the cities of s?o paulo and osasco. among other things, this article presents the different forms assumed by the above-mentioned course given the difficulty in shaping activities capable of turning school's everyday practices into an object of reflection for those directly involved in the act of educating, as well as for the school institution as a whole. it also points out important features engendered by this teacher continuing education proposal in its search for answers to the challenges currently faced by the brazilian school in fulfilling its public role.

Abstract: the link between the objectives of the educational process and the ideals of freedom and autonomy seems to be a common and recurrent element throughout the various pedagogical discourses that left their mark on the 20th century. at first sight, this apparent consensus could indicate a rare agreement within a field characterized by theoretical and practical disputes, usually grounded on diverging assumptions, and that tend to point to conflicting ideals and alternative procedures. in this article, we try to argue that such apparent unanimity tends to vanish as we unveil the different meanings attributed to the ideal of "freedom", and compare the practical efforts through which such ideal is pursued within the field of education. for that, we make use of the analyses of different senses of the concept of "freedom", contrasting the conception that sees in it a political goal to be achieved in public life with the currents that identify it either with the subjective faculty of the will, or with the non-interference in individual choices. lastly, we seek to establish the connection between these conceptions of freedom and different pedagogical discourses, analyzing the current trends associated with the "pedagogy of autonomy" in the light of the political thinking of hannah arendt and her reflections about the education crisis of the modern world.

Abstract: this text discusses some aspects of the pedagogical discourse of the national curricular directives, emphasizing how pedagogical jargon and the recourse to consecrated expressions and educational slogans cloud the specificity of the educational task in school institutions and ignore the concrete challenges to teaching activities in these institutions. the analyses center on the ideal of "developing critical competency", seen as the objective of the process of schooling and in the pedagogical ideal of "inter disciplinarity" taking them as examples typical of this type of discourse.
Fever and Infection Prevalence in Hematology-Oncology Hospitalized Patients: A Single-Center Retrospective Study  [PDF]

Abstract: Fever is prevalent in hospitalized patients. In hematology-oncology patients, it is related with infection, a disease manifestation or a consequence of immunological dysfunction. This single-center retrospective study aims to determine fever prevalence, describe its causes and evaluate the impact of infection on mortality. We reviewed clinical records of 222 patients admitted to the hospital in three random months of 2015. Around 35% of all hospitalizations were complicated by fever, 42.5% of unknown origin. 90.4% were under treatment. Around 81% did antibiotics, most commonly piperacillin/tazobactam, for around 11 days. 41% changed antibiotics due to fever persistence or microbiological results. The diagnostic yield of microbiological tests was 25%; in 66.7%, a Gram-negative microorganism was isolated. We didn’t find an association between infection and mortality. We conclude that fever is common in our hematology-oncology clinic and that the team is trained to assume infection; empirical treatment is in accordance with international recommendations.

Abstract: the models guiding the intervention of the educational psychologist suggest a multiplicity of opportunities / options that each professional will have to take. research has long suggested that learning together leads all students to better results (e.g., johnson & johnson, 1990, 1994; slavin, 1991). although many psychologists still work only with an individual perspective, the purpose of this paper is to discuss the ways in which the educational psychology can create and sustain authentic inclusion settings. this is based on vigotsky’s belief that all children, in spite of their disabilities, should have access to the regular school system. starting from the analysis of three key aspects inclusion, special education needs and psychology; it concludes with some suggestions that help define how the educational psychology can contribute to the success of all students in the regular school system.

Abstract: Desde a crise financeira em 2008, a internacionaliza o tornou-se uma alternativa cada vez mais atraente para os bancos brasileiros. Neste contexto, procurou-se responder por que e como os bancos brasileiros se internacionalizam. Adicionalmente, este trabalho objetivou calcular o grau de internacionaliza o destes bancos. Baseado no estudo de caso múltiplo, tendo como técnica a análise de conteúdo com o apoio do software Atlas/ti, foram entrevistados gestores do alto escal o dos três maiores bancos nacionais. Concluiu-se que os três bancos brasileiros em processo de internacionaliza o iniciaram suas opera es no exterior com motiva es do tipo asset seeking, apresentando estratégias diferenciadas de entrada em cada país. O grau de internacionaliza o dos bancos evidenciou o Itaú Unibanco com melhor desempenho (0,59) diante do Banco do Brasil (0,40) e Bradesco (0,33), principalmente por ser o Itaú Unibanco a institui o com maior quantidade de subsidiárias no exterior, maior lucratividade e possuir a maior quantidade de funcionários no exterior. Desde la crisis financiera del 2008, la internacionalización se ha convertido en una alternativa cada vez más atractiva para los bancos brasile os. En este contexto, hemos tratado de responder por qué y cómo los bancos brasile os se internacionalizan. Además, este estudio tuvo como objetivo calcular el grado de internacionalización de los bancos. Sobre la base de un estudio de casos múltiples, y la técnica de análisis de contenido, con el apoyo del software Atlas/ti, fueran entrevistados directivos de los tres mayores bancos del país. Se concluyó que los tres bancos brasile os en el proceso de internacionalización iniciaran sus operaciones en el extranjero con la búsqueda de motivaciones de tipo asset seeking, con diferentes estrategias para la entrada en cada país. El grado de internacionalización de los bancos ha demostrado que el Itaú Unibanco ha tenido un mejor rendimiento (0,59) antes de que el Banco de Brasil (0,40) y Bradesco (0,33), principalmente debido a que el Itaú Unibanco es la institución con el mayor número de filiales en en el extranjero, la más rentable y con el mayor número de empleados en el extranjero. Abstract: Clarke’s matrix has been applied as a phase-mode transformation matrix to three-phase transmission lines substituting the eigenvector matrices. Considering symmetrical untransposed three-phase lines, an actual symmetrical three-phase line on untransposed conditions is associated with Clarke’s matrix for error and frequency scan analyses in this paper. Error analyses are calculated for the eigenvalue diagonal elements obtained from Clarke’s matrix. The eigenvalue off-diagonal elements from the Clarke’s matrix application are compared to the correspondent exact eigenvalues. Based on the characteristic impedance and propagation function values, the frequency scan analyses show that there are great differences between the Clarke’s matrix results and the exact ones, considering frequency values from 10 kHz to 1 MHz. A correction procedure is applied obtaining two new transformation matrices. These matrices lead to good approximated results when compared to the exact ones. With the correction procedure applied to Clarke’s matrix, the relative values of the eigenvalue matrix off-diagonal element obtained from Clarke’s matrix are decreased while the frequency scan results are improved. The steps of correction procedure application are detailed, investigating the influence of each step on the obtained two new phase-mode transformation matrices.

Abstract: plants that use resources to defend themselves in the absence of pests or pathogens will pay off with energy costs that can reflect in the productivity. thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate the fitness costs of the resistance induced in bean plants, before the presence of the pathogen, by using biotic (bacillus cereus) and abiotic (acibenzolar-s-methyl, asm) inducers, applied 2, 3 or 4 times during the cycle of the culture. the protecting effect was evaluated against the bacterium xanthomonas axonopodis pv. phaseoli. the activities of peroxidase, chitinase and β-1,3-glucanase, lignin and phenol synthesis and plant growth were evaluated too. it was observed that the inducers protected the bean plants against x. axonopodis pv. phaseoli. the asm increased the activity of peroxidase, chitinase and β-1,3-glucanase, while b. cereus only increased peroxidase activity. unlike b. cereus, the asm increased lignin synthesis and decreased phenolic compound content and plant growth. therefore, the resistance induced by asm represents high fitness costs for bean plants, while the resistance induced by b. cereus represents low cost and its potential use can be explored.
