Diagnóstico fotodinámico (PDD) en el cáncer vesical no músculo-invasivo: Revisión bibliográfica
Oliva Encina,José; Rioja Sanz,Carlos;
Actas Urológicas Espa?olas , 2009, DOI: 10.4321/S0210-48062009000900007
Abstract: non-muscle invasive bladder cancer is one of the most prevalent and incident neoplastic conditions in the western world. its clinical management involves significant costs for health systems. diagnosis and treatment are based on direct visualization of the disease and on detection of flat forms having no specific morphology and which are sometimes overlooked. prognosis of nmibc often depends on quality of transurethral resection and on early detection of undifferentiated flat forms. cystoscopy using photosensitive substances such as 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ala) or hexyl aminolevulinic acid (hal) achieves overdetection rates of 29 % for bladder neogrowths and 59% for carcinoma in situ. this overdetection ability results in an increased disease-free survival and a longer time to the first relapse. increased costs resulting from use of these resources are compensated by a lower numer of or delayed performance of cystectomies, resections, and instrumentations. it is concluded that pdd should be universally used, rather than in high risk patients only.that has been shown in both animal studies and human tumors.
ENGLISH-SPANISH TRANSLATIONS OF NARRATIVE TEXTS UNDER FRANCO. FINDINGS FROM CORPUS TRACEni (1962-1969)
Marta Rioja
Revista de Lingüística y Lenguas Aplicadas , 2010, DOI: 10.4995/rlyla.2010.768
Abstract: The paper explores the most relevant conclusions obtained after a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the corpus 0 TRACEni (1962-1969)(TRAducciones CEnsuradas narrativa inglés), which at present contains 9090 entries of English narrative texts translated into Castilian Spanish and published under those years. The aim of this paper is to examine the most relevant results from the initial Corpus TRACEni, obtained after a quantitative and qualitative analysis, with no recourse to the books themselves, with the ultimate purpose of exploiting some of those texts in the foreseeable future. The study of paratextual information of the translated texts into Castilian from 1962-1969 might give us an overview of the kind of literature that was imported in the country, undoubtedly affected as any other artistic productions by the constraint of official censorship. Abstract: Patients with type 2 diabetes and mixed hyperlipidemia were recruited. Fasting lipid profile was taken when patients were treated with diet, diet plus 80 mg of fluvastatin and diet plus fluvastatin 80 mg and 4 g of prescription omega 3 fatty acids. The intestinal lipoproteins were quantified by the fasting concentration of apolipoprotein B48 using a commercial ELISA.The addition of 4 g of prescription omega 3 was followed by significant reductions in the levels of triglycerides, VLDL triglycerides and the triglyceride/HDL cholesterol ratio, and an increase in HDL cholesterol (P < 0.05). Fluvastatin induced a reduction of 26% in B100 (P < 0.05) and 14% in B48 (NS). However, the addition of omega 3 fatty acids enhanced this reduction to 32% in B100 (NS) and up to 36% in B48 (P < 0.05).Our preliminary findings therefore suggest an additional benefit on postprandial atherogenic particles when omega 3 fatty acids are added to standard treatment with fluvastatin.Type 2 diabetes is characterized by hypertriglyceridemia, low concentrations of HDL cholesterol, increased small-dense LDL (sdLDL), greater postprandial lipidemia and a considerable increase in vascular risk [1]. It has been clearly established that LDL cholesterol levels should be kept below 100 mg/dL (with an optional goal of < 70 mg/dL) or, if hypertriglyceridemia is present, a non-HDL cholesterol < 130 mg/dL (optional < 100 mg/dL). Together with dietary recommendations and lifestyle changes, statins are the drugs of choice for this goal [2].Postprandial lipoprotein particles have been shown to be atherogenic in experimental animal [3], case-control [4] and histological studies [5]. Indeed, nonfasting triglycerides predict the vascular risk better than fasting measurements [6]. Additionally, postprandial triglycerides are independently associated with carotid [7] and peripheral atheromatosis [8] in patients with type 2 diabetes. Accordingly, it seems reasonable to seek additional control of the triglycerides in

Revista Clínica de Medicina de Familia , 2010, DOI: 10.4321/S1699-695X2010000300012
Abstract: aortic dissection is a tear in the intimal layer of the vessel wall followed by the formation of a false lumen between this layer and the media layer. it is a life-threatening emergency with a high morbidity and mortality rate. the most common initial symptom is acute chest pain. early diagnosis, in spite of advances in complementary tests, still remains a clinical challenge.

This article analyzes from a critical viewpoint the construction of a Higher Education Space as regards the reorganization of European universities using criteria far-removed from its proper objectives; that is, teaching seen as a channel through which students can have access to knowledge, and, on the other hand, research concerning independent intellectual and experimental activity keyed to increasing and generating knowledge.

Abstract: Twenty-four survivors of acute hypertriglyceridaemic pancreatitis (cases) and 31 patients with severe hypertriglyceridaemia (controls) were included. Clinical and anthropometrical data, chylomicronaemia, lipoprotein profile, postheparin lipoprotein lipase mass and activity, hepatic lipase activity, apolipoprotein C II and CIII mass, apo E and A5 polymorphisms were assessed.Only five cases were found to have LPL mass and activity deficiency, all of them thin and having the first episode in childhood. No cases had apolipoprotein CII deficiency. No significant differences were found between the non-deficient LPL cases and the controls in terms of obesity, diabetes, alcohol consumption, drug therapy, gender distribution, evidence of fasting chylomicronaemia, lipid levels, LPL activity and mass, hepatic lipase activity, CII and CIII mass or apo E polymorphisms. However, the SNP S19W of apo A5 tended to be more prevalent in cases than controls (40% vs. 23%, NS).Primary defects in LPL and C-II are rare in survivors of acute hypertriglyceridaemic pancreatitis; lipase activity measurements should be restricted to those having their first episode during chilhood.Among patients with acute pancreatitis, 1.3 to 3.5% are due to hypertriglyceridaemia, also known as hypertriglyceridaemic pancreatitis [1,2], some times relapsing and being even more severe than lithiasic acute pancreatitis [3]. Acute hypertriglyceridaemic pancreatitis forms part of the Chylomicronaemia Syndrome, defined as the presence of one or more of the typical signs (eruptive xanthomas, lipidaemia retinalis, recurrent abdominal pain or acute pancreatitis) in a patient with plasma triglyceride concentrations >22.58 mmol/L[4].Genetic causes of the syndrome are rare and include deficiency of lipoprotein lipase (LPL), apolipoprotein C-II, and familial inhibitor of LPL. Other genes are also involved in the catabolism of chylomicrons, such as those for apolipoprotein E, apolipoprotein A-V [5] and glycosylphosphatidyli
