Abstract: The main objective of this study is verify the effect that different strategies of brand name attribution (descriptive or invented) exercises on retail brand extensions more or less similar. This research is justified not only by the absence of studies on retail brand extensions but also by the recurrence with which this strategy has been happening in our society. The formulated hypotheses were tested by an experiment, in full factorial design 3 (high, medium and low similarity between original and extended retail format) x 2 (descriptive name and invented name) among subjects involving 170 respondents. The result of this study that the utilization of name that is full of meaning does not seem appropriate to extension in formats with low similarity to the original format and that the extension off meaning-full name is a good option to new deals similar to the retailer’s original format O objetivo principal deste estudo é verificar qual o efeito que diferentes estratégias de atribui o de um nome de marca (carregado de significado ou inventado) exercem sobre extens es de marcas varejistas mais e menos similares.

Abstract:

This paper investigates the teacher’s perception and knowledge about interdisciplinarity on public secondary school in Rio de Janeiro. Among the participants, 101 teachers completed the questionnaire on the subject investigated. All data about the perceptions of teachers were faced with lesson plans prepared by teachers who reported having strong knowledge on interdisciplinary practice. Our results suggest that there is a lack of support in schools, and competence of teachers to develop interdisciplinary approaches in the classroom. In this context, we suggest the use of methodologies such as Problem-Based Learning in teacher training courses in Brazil, as well as encouraging a continuing education of professionals through postgraduate programs.

Cobayashi, Fernanda;Lopes, Luiz A.;Taddei, José A. A. C.;
Jornal de Pediatria , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0021-75572005000500013
Abstract: objective: to study bone density as a concomitant factor for obesity in post-pubertal adolescents, controlling for other variables that may interfere in such a relation. methods: study comprising 83 overweight and obese adolescents (bmi > p85) and 89 non obese ones (p5 < bmi < p85). cases and controls were selected out of 1,420 students (aged 14-19) from a public school in the city of s?o paulo. the bone mineral density of the lumbar spine (l2-l4 in g/cm2) was assessed by dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (lunar? dpx-l). the variable bone density was dichotomized using 1.194 g/cm2 as cutoff point. bivariate analyses were conducted considering the prevalence of overweight and obesity followed by multivariate analysis (logistic regression) according to a hierarchical conceptual model. results: the prevalence of bone density above the median was twice more frequent among cases (69.3%) than among controls (32.1%). in the bivariate analysis such prevalence resulted in an odds ratio (or) of 4.78. the logistic regression model showed that the association between obesity and mineral density is yet more intense with an or of 6.65 after the control of variables related to sedentary lifestyle and intake of milk and dairy products. conclusion: obese and overweight adolescents in the final stages of sexual maturity presented higher bone mineral density in relation to their normal-weight counterparts; however, cohort studies will be necessary to evaluate the influence of such characteristic on bone resistance in adulthood and, consequently, on the incidence of osteopenia and osteoporosis at older ages.

This study aimed to investigate the developmental trajectory of the Brazilian Rhythmic Gymnastics Youth Team, focusing on the identification of competitive factors (motivator and stressful) thatoccurs in different sport’s career phases. The sample was composed ten athletes. As measure instruments were used the Frester’s Test Psychic Load and a semi-structured interview. The data were analyzed through the descriptive statistics and categorical type of content’s analysis. The results demonstrated that in the rhythmic gymnastics the process of the athletes’ motor specialization begins at 12 years; the motivator factors evidenced were fun for sport and being the favorite; the stressful factors were being harmed by the judges and not time for fun. Concluding in a general analysis the athletes perceived the competitive sporting context as more stressful than motivator; this affirmation increased starting from the motor’s practice phase where the competitive stress for the income wasintensified.

Abstract: Children’s movements are initially characterized by inconsistent and imprecise actions. However, with practice and experience, the motor patterns become more refined and they present better coordination and control. However, it is not rare to observe children that manifest certain movement difficulties that might interfere in the children’s emotional, affectionate, school and social relationships. We investigated the prevalence of Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) in schoolchildren aged 7 to 10 years and which motor tasks the children with probable DCD and risk of DCD present larger motor difficulty. The evaluation included 581 children registered regularly from the 2nd to the 5th grade of Elementary School of public schools of Maringá-PR was conducted through the battery II and III of the Movement Assessment Battery for Children (MABC) test. The results indicated that 78,1% of the children present Typical Development (DT), 10,5% presented risk of Developmental Coordination Disorder (Risk of DCD) and 11,4% were diagnosed with potential Developmental Coordination Disorder (Potential DCD). Therefore, the results showed high prevalence of population for Risk of DCD and Potential DCD, predicting unfavorable levels in the acquisition and improvement of fundamental skills, which may harm the continuity of the process of the children’s motor development. Manual skills were the major motor difficulty found in children with DT while ball skills were the major motor difficulty in children with probable DCD and risk of DCD.
