Abstract: this paper presents the design of a model for the control system of a knee prosthesis, in a cycle of human gait. the model is simulated through computational tools such as simulink and simmechanics, in this case, considering the biomechanical model of the pendulum double as a representation of the human leg and based on the parameters of the anthropometric. through the analysis and study of human walking normal develops a method of control and identification of the phases of the cycle of human gait, to act in the articulation of the knee with use of a transfemoral prosthesis. among the major findings, it emphasizes the achievement of a precise control of the position during the flexion of the knee, which gives it a development of the process of progress with the prosthesis very similar to the normal running.

Abstract: asepsis, sterilization and prevention seem to be the axis of the big progresses of medicine in the xxth century. in the last decades, latex appeared as a preventive element, widely used because of its characteristics but as a consequence, a new pathology with an increasing epidemic role with manifestations that can be fatal emerged. although the description of the first cases dates from several decades ago the fact is ignored by most of the pediatricians. the knowledge of the risk groups, their appropriate evaluation and preventive measures represent the basic concepts for the management of this pathology.

Abstract: a description and test's results of an equipment for measuring tractor fuel consumption in agricultural experiments are presented. the equipment was constructed with two reservoir tanks made of pvc tube, a feeder tank, a graduated glass tube and solenoidal valves (12 vcc) which are connected to the tractor fuel system with low pressure hoses. the flow is controlled by input/output key. a thermometer integrates the equipment for determining the density of fuel when it is necessary to measure the specific fuel consumption. this equipment developed by the se??o de máquinas de tra??o e de potência, state of s?o paulo, brazil, is simple, inexpensive, easy to use and has satisfactory accuracy for measuring tractor fuel consumption from 5.0 to 50.0 l/h.

Campanhas eleitorais em sociedades midiáticas: articulando e revisando conceitos
Ribeiro, Pedro José Floriano;
Revista de Sociologia e Política , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-44782004000100004
Abstract: through a process of revision and articulation of concepts, this article seeks to elucidate the motives and meanings assumed in electoral campaigns as decisive moments of contemporary public democracies. the intensive use of research and marketing, centrality of mass media, professionalization of participants, and the personalization and usage of seductive and emotional publicity appeals emerge as the main characteristics of modern electoral campaigns; such aspects can only be correctly apprehended in their attributes and causal factors if special attention is given to the deep and significant changes that preceded them and brought about what we refer to here as "media societies". in such societies, sartorian video-politics take on a central role, even in the sense of the operationalization of the new form of representative government that prevails within them, in other words, that of public democracy. we conclude - thus going against the grain of those who see modernized campaigns as the work of apolitical politicians and opportunistic advertising specialists - that these new modes of political action represent just the tip of the iceberg: one that has as its basis societal, political and technological changes that run much deeper.
UNA NUEVA ESPECIE DE ACANTHOCLADUS (POLYGALACEAE) DE COLOMBIA
AYMARD C.,GERARDO A.; BARêA PASTORE,JOSé F.;
Caldasia , 2009,
Abstract: a new species of acanthocladus klotzsch ex hassk. was found during the preparation of the polygalaceae treatment for the catalogue of the plants of colombia. acanthocladus colombianus from the inter-andean arid valley of cundinamarca department, colombian andes, is described, illustrated, and its morphological relationships with allied species are discussed. this new species is similar to acanthocladus guayaquilensis b. eriksen & st?hl., but can be distinguished by its habit: a tree with terete branches, larger and rigid-coriaceous leaves , with 6--9 lateral veins, sessile inflorescences, and sepals of the outer whorl pilose, 3--4 x 3--4 mm. this species represents the first record of this genus for the andes.
Hantavirus en Chile: revisión y análisis de casos desde 1975

Revista médica de Chile , 1999, DOI: 10.4067/S0034-98871999001200015
Abstract: since the identification of the first case of hantavirus infection in chile in 1995, a great advance in the knowledge of the disease natural history has occurred. there is evidence to suppose that the infection by andes virus in suburban areas of argentina and chile, whose natural reservoir is oligoryzomys longicaudatus, has been present but unidentified for a long time. we describe a serologically proven case occurred in 1975. the clinical presentation of the disease slightly differs from that described for hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (hps), caused by sin nombre virus in the usa. there is a wider range of presentation forms including, besides hps, mild and asymptomatic cases, a greater proportion of renal involvement and pediatric cases. therefore the epidemiological scenario would be an endemic disease with fluctuations that follow changes in rodent population and their interactions with humans.

Abstract: vehicles travelling over a crop field have become a primary source of forces compacting agricultural soils.the type of tires used by those vehicles, their physical dimensions, their displacement speed on the soil, the number of times that their tires pass by the same place, and the load those tires support are some factors which cause higher or lower degree of soil compaction. the objective of this study was to determine, under field condictions, the effect of slip of an agricultural tractor driving wheel upon the compaction of a specific type of soil. a field experiment arranged in a randomized complete block design was carried out to analyse four different levels of slip (0, 10, 20 and 30%) with five replications, in split-plots. the degree of compaction was determined through the cone index of a soil penetrometer. fifteen samples were taken from points along the center line of the driving wheel track, and another fifteen samples were taken from points along but outside the driving wheel track on soil band not compacted by the tires. each sample was composed by readings from the penetrometer cone index at six different depths: 25; 50; 75; 100; 125 and 150 mm. it was found that slip had influence on the degree of soil compaction up to 5 cm depth, under the conditions this study was carried out. the 30% level of slip was the one that produced significant differences on soil compaction degree. although it was observed an increasing compacting effect from 19.2 to 31.9%, no significant differences were observed among the cone index values for the 10 to 20% slip range.
