Abstract: medical residency (mr) is known as the best form for a doctor to start his professional life and to developing his skills in a specialty. there is however a discrepancy between the number of graduate/ candidates for medical residency and the number of vacancies. in this context, students in the 5th and 6th years of medical school are sacrificing their medical graduation during their internships to dedicate themselves to preparatory courses (pcs) for the medical residency. this study sought to investigate the expectations of the students with regard to rm as well as/ their opinion about the creation of the pcs. 70.83% of the students of the 7th, 8th and 9th semesters/ of the medical school (ms) answered questionnaires with eight objective questions. they all stated to know the pc method; 76%/ intended to enroll; out of those who did not intend on to enroll, 63.17% claim that the/ main reason/ is poor financial conditions. 59.45% disapproves the current method of admission tests for mr. in conclusion, it is necessary to adapt the current teaching methods of the medical school to the model of admission tests for mr. the criteria for admission to mr should be adjusted, also considering the practical skills. the medical schools should always make inexpensive, up-to-date and modern educational material available to the students.
Sirimarco,Mariana;
Etnográfica , 2012,
Abstract: the figure of the suspicious ethnographer tends to be a constant in early fieldwork. based on an anthropological experience in police schools, the aim of this article is to dismantle that construction of distrust, espionage and intransigence with which the subjects face both the ethnographer and his study, understanding it as an instance used to undermine his pretended authority and to negotiate the boundaries of the research. to declare this involves sustaining that the role of the research is not under the pure control of the ethnographer. this role, on the contrary, is highly permeable to the actions of the subjects in the field. blurred, disputed and confronted, the role of the ethnographer thus turns out, by virtue of this conflict of skills and competences, to be a sort of cooperative enterprise.
LOS CUERPOS REPLICANTES. LA ELUSIóN DEL CUERPO LEGíTIMO EN EL PROCESO DE FORMACIóN POLICIAL
SIRIMARCO,MARIANA;
Revista Colombiana de Antropología , 2009,
Abstract: this article explores one of the classic corporal routines of police schools -the milongas- and the modalities of its elusion, in order to understand this resistance as a way to confront the imperative of the legitimate police body proposed by the institution. the institutional discipline, far form being a control net that encapsules all freedoms and prescribes all attitudes, is a net full of interstices and possibilities of autonomy. this text deals with these elusion practices as performed by those who enter the institution with the intention of excluding the body from disciplinary routines. because the majority of these practices are fixed in the body, this is the most immediate terrain in which to fix the possibilities of resistance, creativity, and struggle.
Sirimarco,Mariana;
Cuadernos de antropolog?-a social , 2004,
Abstract: generic and sexual references are central in initiation ceremonies, where they play a deciding role in the production of male personality. those ceremonies are not an erotic but a political activity. the aim of this paper is to approach to the proceedings and discourses of the production of male personality that are an important part of the instruction given in the initial schools of the police institution. those practices and narratives reveals the discourses that forge not only a male subject, but an institutional one. discourses that outline and support a specific way of being and acting inside the police institution and tends to constitute a specific police subject.

El policía y el etnógrafo (sospechado): disputa de roles y competencias en un campo en colaboración The policeman and the (suspected) ethnographer: roles and competences in dispute in a co-produced field
Mariana Sirimarco
Ruth Stanley,Mariana Sirimarco
Chehuen Neto, José Ant?nio;Sirimarco, Mauro Toledo;Figueiredo, Nathália Stela Visoná de;Barbosa, Tatiane Neto;Silveira, Thiago Gon?alves da;
Revista Brasileira de Educa??o Médica , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-55022011000100002
Abstract: recent decades have witnessed an increase in the societal implications of medical error, a subject in which medicine and law intertwine. this study focused on medical error from the perspective of medical students and law students, assessing their level of interest and information and the need to discuss the topic during undergraduate education and how it occurs in each field, in their view. a cross-sectional, descriptive, observational study was conducted at the federal university in juiz de fora, minas gerais state, in 2008 with 185 medical students and 119 law students. 88.7% of the medical students and 92.4% of the law students reported knowledge of medical error. the interest was due to the fact that medical error is currently a widely discussed issue. the students thought the issue should be addressed in their undergraduate education (97.8% of medical students and 94.9% of law students). it is important to discuss such a current issue in undergraduate education in both medicine and law, because of the potential for decreasing the vicious circle of errors, iatrogenesis, and law suits, in addition to fostering reflection on the role of medical education in the ethical training of young professionals.
Influence of Gamma Irradiation on Seedless Citrus Production: Pollen Germination and Fruit Quality  [PDF]
Almudena Bermejo, José Pardo, Antonio Cano
Food and Nutrition Sciences (FNS) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/fns.2011.23024
Abstract: Seedlessness is a desirable characteristic in citrus fruits sold for fresh consumption. Gamma irradiation is widely used to obtain seedless citrus fruits. Here, different clones of the self-incompatible parthenocarpic ‘Moncada’ mandarin, obtained by gamma irradiation, were studied to assess seedlessness, pollen germination, fruit characteristics and qua- lity attributes. Findings indicate that irradiation altered aspects other than seedlessness, such as pollen germination, and some of the clones presented different weight, size, acidity and maturity index. Fruit quality and nutritional bio- components were affected differently; some clones presented no changes compared to the control ‘Moncada’ man-darin, while other clones showed significant differences. In general, all clones examined presented low seed numbers and re- duced pollen viability. Some of these clones, which ripen late in the season and whose fruit quality is maintained or improved, are in the process of registration.
