Alves, Péricles Guedes;Castro, José Adilson de;Moreira, Luciano Pessanha;Hemerly, Elder Moreira;
Materials Research , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-14392012005000137
Abstract: this paper describes a modeling procedure for tandem cold metal rolling, including the linearization step and system identification for control. the tandem cold rolling process is described by a mathematical model based on algebraic equations developed for control purposes and empirical relations. a state-space model is derived and detailed analyses in open loop are presented, concerning the sensitivity with regard to the variations in process parameters and results for the application of a new subspace identification method are compared with classical methodologies. therefore, this work intents to be a contribution for developments in new control strategies for tandem cold rolling process that offer the potential to reduce the design efforts, the commissioning time and maintenance in rolling mills. the preliminary results obtained with this model have shown reasonable agreement with operational data presented at literature for industrial cold rolling process.

Abstract: the present study aims to quantify basic parameters for the transport and retention of metal ions in contention barrier systems. a synthetic leachate with ph 1 and known concentrations of ions chromium, cadmium and copper was used. sorption and molecular diffusion experiments were carried out in compacted soil, soil mixture with 10% sodium bentonite and compacted soil overlaid with geomembrane. it was implemented in the program mphmtp (multi phase heat and mass transfer program) where the equations describe ion behavior under adjusted parameters obtained from sorption and diffusion tests. the geomembrane’s presence minimizes ion migration through a diffusive process, and eliminates the need for the soil sorption capacity. but the soil with the bentonite option proved to be the most predominant specific alternative due to its cadmium sorption capacity.

Abstract: the aim of this research about the national guard uniforms was to examine the use of this apparel in the organization and functioning of a military force. an initial step in order to study the apparel as a material vector of the social production and reproduction. it is not, therefore, from the study of an artefact, but from its functions, pragmatic, diacritical and symbolic, means to analyse bigger problems regarding organization, development and change in the societies.

Particularities of the Psychoanalytical Clinic of Aging: Construction of Clinical Cases  [PDF]
José Maurício da Silva, Jacqueline de Oliveira Moreira
Psychology (PSYCH) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2016.76093
Abstract:

This paper proposes to think the psychoanalytical clinic of aging as moved by challenges brought about by the considerable increase in the number of elderly people nowadays. By questioning the role of psychoanalysis in culture and supported by clinic experience, we think about the psychoanalytical clinic of aging while including interdisciplinary contributions and interventions. This approach defends sublimation as a means of sustaining the wish and, above all, as a means of transformation provided by social bonds, aiming to put the subject as the leader of his own history and assuming that investment is what upholds existence. There is no age for desire. Through this principle, one must “bet on life” even when the body becomes “an arena for diseases”, always pointing towards death. Thus, psychoanalysis summons “the subject” to the hearing and remembering which enable his/her own histories and reconcile him/her with the legitimacy of his/her own wish.

Modelamento da utiliza??o de aglomerado autorredutor em minialto-forno com recircula??o de gás de topo

Abstract: mini blast furnaces are reactors that traditionally produce pig iron from charcoal using granular ore with some agglomerate substitution. this work proposes metallic burden replacement by self-reducing agglomerates and reutilization of cleaned top gas injected into the shaft of the mini blast furnace where charcoal or small coke from a large blast furnace are used as the reducing agent. this technology was evaluated using a previously validated, blast furnace computational code based on the transport phenomena. several scenarios combining the charging of the furnace with self-reducing agglomerates and reutilization of cleaned top gas were simulated. based on the simulation results, it can be concluded that up to 45% of the metallic burden could be replaced by self-reducing agglomerate combined with the reutilization of the top gas. the best conditions indicated an increase in productivity of around 8% with charcoal as the reducing agent. results showed that decreases of 30% and 40% of the reducing agent could be achieved for operations with charcoal and small coke, respectively.

Abstract: the main goal of this study was the identification of the items of the diet of the l. spinosa, based on the stomach contents analysis. the crabs were obtained from ubatuba region north-eastern shore of s?o paulo state. in the laboratory, all the individuals were dissected, the stomach was retreated and fixed in 10% formaline. the alimentary items were identified under stereomicroscope and analysed by the method of frequency of occurrence. a total of 194 stomachs was analysed and nine alimentary items were obtained. unindentified material was found in 98% of analysed stomach and poriferan were present in less then 1% of stomachs. these results pointed a diversified diet explored by this crab, as well as the employment of some different methods for food intake. this suggested that these crabs could occupy different position in the trophic chain.
Modelagens min-max-min para o problema de localiza??o de esta??es de rádio base
Brito, José André de M.;Xavier, Adilson Elias;
Pesquisa Operacional , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-74382006000200006
Abstract: we report a new proposal to solve the base station location problem. this proposal is related to a non-differentiable min-max-min problem with multi-level nature. in order to overcome these difficulties and, thus, to be able to use more robust and efficient optimization tools, such as gradient and newton methods, we have developed a smoothing strategy using a special smoothing function of class c¥. then, the final solution is obtained by solving a sequence of differentiable sub-problems which gradually approaches the original problem. the use of this technique, called hyperbolic smoothing, permits to overcome the main difficulties that arise from the original problem. besides the initial min-max-min modelling, we propose three variant methods through which other issues of the base station location problem are also taken into account. an algorithm containing the essentialities of the method is also presented together a set of computational results.
