Cavum Septum Pellucidum: Hallazgo Mediante Disección Neuroanatómica Cavum Septum Pellucidum: Finding from Neuroanatomical Dissection

Abstract: Se reporta una marcada cavitación a nivel del septum pellucidum, un gran cavum septum pellucidum de una persona adulta, en el espacio reconocido generalmente como cerrado del sistema nervioso central, que se hace evidente como tal, en ciertas fases de la vida intrauterina. Esta cavitación está ausente en el adulto sano, pero en algunas personas esquizofrénicas y con demencia pugilística, dicha cavidad, puede considerarse como un hallazgo de relativa frecuencia. Este hallazgo se encontró aleatoriamente en uno de cuarenta y dos encéfalos de adultos, valorados superficialmente desde la anatomía macroscópica como normales. Dicho hallazgo posiblemente se asocie con desórdenes conductuales, en vista que dicho encéfalo correspondía a un individuo proveniente de un hospital psiquiátrico. A marked cavitation in the septum pellucidum level is reported, a great cavum septum pellucidum of an adult in the closed space generally recognized as the central nervous system, which is evident in itself, at certain stages of intrauterine life. This cavitation is usually absent in the healthy adult, but in some people with schizophrenia and pugilistic dementia, the cavity can be regarded and found relatively frequently. This finding was found randomly in one of forty-two adult brains, superficially valued from the gross anatomy as normal. This finding may be associated with behavioral disorders, taking in to account that the brain corresponded to a person from a psychiatric hospital.

Abstract: El uso redundante de términos en el campo de la morfología, además de dificultar el aprendizaje de los estudiantes, va en contra de los preceptos establecidos por el Programa Federativo Internacional para la Terminología Anatómica (FIPAT) sobre el uso de una terminología anatómica unificada, mediante la cual se pretende evitar la redundancia terminológica. Se propone suprimir el término apertura piriforme y reemplazarlo por el término foramen piriforme, con el fin de evitar la ambigüedad y la utilización de distintos nombres que describen a una estructura de similares características. The redundant use of terms in morphology field, as well as hindering the learning of students, goes against the precepts established long ago by the Federative International Programme for Anatomical Terminology (FIPAT) on the use of unified anatomical terminology, which is meant to avoid the redundancy terms. It is proposed to delete the term piriform aperture and replace it for the term piriform foramen in order to avoid ambiguity and the use of different names that describe similar structure features.

Abstract: It has been stated, in different types of texts, that there are only twelve pairs of cranial nerves. Such texts exclude the existence of another cranial pair, the terminal nerve or even cranial zero. This paper considers the mentioned nerve like a cranial pair, specifying both its connections and its functional role in the migration of liberating neurons of the gonadotropic hormone (Gn RH). In this paper is also stated the hypothesis of the phylogenetic existence of a cerebral sector and a common nerve that integrates the terminal nerve with the olfactory nerves and the vomeronasals nerves which seem to carry out the odors detection function as well as in the food search, pheromone detection and nasal vascular regulation.
LA ADAPTACIóN DE LAS CéLULAS GLIALES: UNA PERSPECTIVA EVOLUTIVA

Abstract: glial evolution still remains unknown, although this process should had required adaptations to the internal medium of the nervous system and to functional needs in the neuroaxis of each species. the hypothesis of the functional and adaptive importance of glia, based on the astrocytary functional multiplicity is supported here as the main objective. the number of glial cells increases in parallel with the encephalic complexity due to a possible activation of new genes associated with the formation of different cellular types; the reason for this cellular growth could be, mainly, the expansion of the astrocytary population. a great functional and adaptive importance for glia is therefore inferred, assumption reinforced by the astrocytary functional complexity. the predominance of a neuroglial type depends on the encephalic morphological and physiological features; brains with thicker parenchyma have astrocytary predominance over ependimary glia. there is a direct correlation between the expansion of the neocortex and the number of astrocytes. the best explanation for this is that the high energetic cost of the neurons causes an increase in the astrocytary population; which constitutes an adaptive strategy of the nervous system for its metabolic support. in short, the phylogenic tendency towards the neuronal specialization should have depended on the emergence, growth and adaptation of the number of glial cells, it may possibly due to the inability of neurons to supply their energy needs by themselves. the initial functional divergence should had allowed the neurons to specialize more in the neurotransmission, while the astrocytes adapted to the metabolic demands of the new neuronal functions.
LA ADAPTACIóN DE LAS CéLULAS GLIALES: UNA PERSPECTIVA EVOLUTIVA GLIAL CELL ADAPTATION: AN EVOLUTIONARY PERSPECTIVE

Abstract: La evolución glial permanece desconocida, aunque este proceso debió requerir adaptaciones al medio interno del sistema nervioso y a necesidades funcionales en el neuroeje de cada especie. Como objetivo se sustenta la hipótesis de la importancia funcional y adaptativa de la glia, fundamentada en la multiplicidad funcional astrocitaria. El número de células gliales aumenta de forma paralela con la complejidad encefálica, debido posiblemente a activación de nuevos genes asociados con la formación de tipos celulares diferentes; este aumento celular se pudo deber principalmente a la expansión de la población astroctaria. Se infiere, por tanto, una gran importancia funcional y adaptativa para la glía, supuesto reforzado por la complejidad funcional astrocitaria. El predominio de un tipo neuroglial u otro depende de las características morfológicas y fisiológicas encefálicas; en cerebros con parénquima más grueso hay predominio astrocitario sobre glía ependimaria. Existe una correlación directa entre expansión de neocorteza y número de astrocitos. La explicación más satisfactoria es que el elevado gasto energético de las neuronas hace necesario incrementar la población astrocitaria, estrategia adaptativa del sistema nervioso esencial para el sustento metabólico del sistema nervioso. En conclusión, la tendencia filogénica hacia la especialización neuronal debió depender de la aparición, aumento y adaptación del número de células gliales, posiblemente debido a la incapacidad de las neuronas para suplir sus necesidades energéticas por sí mismas. La separación funcional inicial debió permitir a las neuronas especializarse más en la neurotransmisión, mientras los astrocitos se adaptaban a las demandas metabólicas de las nuevas funciones neuronales. APRENDIZAJE ACTIVO PARA MáQUINAS DE VECTORES DE RELEVANCIA

Abstract: Este artículo presenta una técnica de aprendizaje activo para máquinas de vectores de relevancia. Uno de los métodos más utilizados para entrenar clasificadores activos utiliza máquinas de vectores de soporte, las cuales poseen algunas desventajas desde el punto de vista práctico. La novedad del método propuesto consiste en mantener todas las ventajas del aprendizaje activo, reemplazando la máquina de vectores de soporte por un clasificador con propiedades similares que no sufra de sus desventajas, esto es, la máquina de vectores de relevancia, obteniendo de esta manera un método de aprendizaje activo mucho más robusto. Los resultados obtenidos sobre bases de datos estándar y de biose ales empleando el método propuesto, muestran desempe os satisfactorios y comparables con relación al aprendizaje activo para máquinas de vectores de soporte.

Abstract: Este artículo pretende mostrar como se puede remover ruido y artefactos de una se al electrocardiográfica utilizando métodos de análisis multivariado, como análisis de componentes principales (ICA) y análisis de componentes independientes (PCA) aplicados sobre una base de datos de electrocardiograma tomadas en humanos. El algoritmo de FastICA usando el criterio de negentropía como función de costo, muestra un mejor resultado sobre su variante llamada JADE, a su vez el algoritmo de FastICA muestra su superioridad en la eliminación de a ruido comparación a un esquema de filtrado clásico compuesto por un banco de Filtros FIR.

Abstract: this text states the vital necessity to carry out a deep and suitable research, not only from the neuroscience perspective, but also from the diverse homeostatic values of several enteogens, which are derived from substances affecting human behaviour. from the neuroscience basis, such research will allow to understand the elements in both the therapeutic and recreational use of these substances. the most objective knowledge on the personal doses will serve the law representatives to be able to act regarding the legislative administration of the possession or the use of some enteogens. this term refers to the substances used for either recreational or therapeutic use, such as the treatment of diseases. these substances are widely employed illegally around the world infringing legal norms. although they have not been validated by neuroscience they have been legitimized by some people based on the varied therapeutic uses that receive theoretical support from some fundamental concepts that have not yet been studied from the perspective of the homeostatic brain values of enteogens.

Abstract: this work was aimed at identifying the existence of strategic groups in colombian banking, their stability and relationship with the average performance of the companies so forming them. their role in analysing business competence/competition within a concrete industrial sector is highlighted. a strategic positioning approach was used; this arose from industrial economics and strategic management studies emphasising some external factors determining companies' strategic behaviour and their approach towards competence/competition. static analysis was used for 2004 and another dynamic one (longitudinal) for the 10-year period 1995-2004. the groups were formed via multivariate anova and manova statistical tests (clusters).
