Tourist satisfaction indices. A critical approach
Joaquín Alegre,Joaquín Alegre
Investigaciones Regionales , 2009,
Abstract: In literature, analyses can be found of the competitiveness of internationaltourist destinations, based on tourist satisfaction with different attributes. However,most of these analyses do not use one single measure to make a global assessment,which makes it difficult to compare destinations. The aim of this paper is twofold.First, some alternatives that can be used as a synthetic index of tourist satisfaction arediscussed. Second, the indices that are proposed are used to analyse a group of rivaldestinations for the European sun and sand tourism market. From the results that areobtained, the advantages of each of the proposed indices are discussed.
The Birth of a New Party: Podemos, a Hurricane in the Spanish Crisis of Trust  [PDF]
Jose M. Pavía, Anselm Bodoque, Joaquín Martín
Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2016.49008
Abstract: A significant number of European electors are turning their backs on traditional main-stream parties. European party systems are being challenged by an increasing number of (new) radical parties, which defied the Christian-social democrat alternation that has dominated Western European countries for decades. In Spain, a political earthquake started after the 2014 European Parliament election. In the context of the worst global economic crisis in the last 80 years (which in Spain is also a social, political and institutional crisis), a party called Podemos won 7.9% of votes and five MEPs, significantly altering the traditional balance of the Spanish party system. This paper studies the causes of the support received by Podemos on 2014 EP elections, dissects its political strategy and analyses the characteristics of the electorate that made possible the birth of this new party. The analysis, which is illustrated using micro-data of twelve surveys, discloses Podemos political agenda.

Brunner,José Joaquín;
Estudios pedagógicos (Valdivia) , 2009, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-07052009000200012
Abstract: the present article analyzes the current development stage of higher education sociology in the north, with emphasis on the united states and europe, and the degree of its establishment in spanish speaking latin america, in particular. it reviews its academic institutionalization, professionalization of research and disciplinary production in the central countries and its later evolution through geographical diffusion, inclusion of new subjects, interdisciplinary emphases, differentiation and specialization of approaches and through an increasing comparative focus in the study of national systems. it also attests to the weaknesses of those institutionalization, professionalization and production processes in latin america, in contrast with the region's contribution in terms of some analytical perspective and distinctive topics, such as the proclamation of a idiosyncratic ' latin american university model', its political content and relationship with the civil society, the role of student movements, the impact of authoritarian regimes on higher education and the cultivation of a critical approach (critical and alienated at the same time) towards the globalization, marketization and increasing privatization of the region's higher education. finally, in the way of a brief case study, a short analysis of the weak and still embryonic institutionalization of the higher education research filed in chile is offered, as well as of the types of research personnel that work within it. a quantification and characterization of the production of these different groups is presented, and their involvement in public policy debates, relative localism and lack of theoretical ambition are explored.

Triple argumentación en defensa de la circulación de la sangre
Iatreia , 2012,
Abstract: the theory of the circulation of blood has captured the attention of historians and philosophers of science for many years. one of the main goals of these works was to study the process by which william harvey discovered his theory, and the method that he applied to prove it. these studies usually emphasize the importance of the experiments he carried out in the context of the so called ''scientific revolution of the 17th century''. in this article, we want to show that there exists a triple argumentation (at least) in his defense of the circulation of the blood, which includes not only his observations and experiments but also arguments by analogy and teleological arguments.
Guerra, poder y liberalismo: politización en la obra de Michel Foucault
Ideas y Valores , 2009,
Abstract: this paper attempts to examine the analysis on liberalism that michel foucault developed during his last courses in the collège de france. this analysis becomes a redefinition of the concept of power, understood as war, and a reflection on the concepts of security and population, by means of which the relation between war, power and liberalism offers a map of the present time, an age when the new rationality of government can be defined as specifically liberal.
La Teoría de la Ecología Poblacional Examinada a la luz de Teorías Adaptacionistas
Visi?3n de futuro , 2011,
Abstract: the idea of radical change in organizations has been discussed mainly from two theoretical positions. one, driven by adaptationist theories, argues that change is possible because the environment is not something immutable and managers can be active agents of it. the other, supported by the population ecology theory argues that change is impossible because of structural inertia that faces all organizations. in this paper we review each of these approaches and discuss the implications of the theory of population ecology in the light of adaptationist theories.
Lameiro Tenreiro,Joaquín;
Alpha (Osorno) , 2008, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-22012008000200005
Abstract: by the means of the development of a theoretical model and its further application to concrete texts, this paper makes its point on the nature of literary language which is understood as the verbalization of an abstract object by means of a “function-symbol” and on the particularities of this nature in uruguayan writer felisberto hernández’s narrative works throughout a revision of the term “metonymy”.
