Efeito anti-inflamatório dos macrolídeos em doen?as pulmonares da infancia
Luisi, Fernanda;Gandolfi, Thays Dornelles;Daudt, Arthur Dondonis;Sanvitto, Joo Pedro Zelmanowicz;Pitrez, Paulo Márcio;Pinto, Leonardo Araujo;
Jornal Brasileiro de Pneumologia , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S1806-37132012000600016
Abstract: macrolides are drugs that have antimicrobial effects, especially against intracellular pathogens. various studies have shown that macrolides might also have anti-inflammatory effects. macrolides inhibit the production of interleukins and can reduce pulmonary neutrophilic inflammation. clinical trials have demonstrated beneficial effects of macrolides in various chronic lung diseases. the objective of this study was to review recent data in the medical literature on the anti-inflammatory effects of macrolides in childhood lung diseases by searching the medline (pubmed) database. we used the following search terms: "macrolide and cystic fibrosis"; "macrolide and asthma"; "macrolide and bronchiolitis obliterans"; and "macrolide and acute bronchiolitis". we selected articles published in international scientific journals between 2001 and 2012. clinical studies and in vitro evidence have confirmed the anti-inflammatory effect of macrolides in respiratory diseases. some clinical trials have shown the benefits of the administration of macrolides in patients with cystic fibrosis, although the risk of bacterial resistance should be considered in the analysis of those benefits. such benefits are controversial in other respiratory diseases, and the routine use of macrolides is not recommended. further controlled clinical trials are required in order to assess the efficacy of macrolides as anti-inflammatory drugs, so that the benefits in the treatment of each specific clinical condition can be better established.
On the boundedness of operators in and Triebel-Lizorkin Spaces
Jo o Pedro Boto
Journal of Function Spaces and Applications , 2008, DOI: 10.1155/2008/981834
Abstract: Given a bounded linear operator T:LPO(ℝn)→Lp1(ℝn), we state conditions under which T defines a bounded operator between corresponding pairs of Lp(ℝn;ιq) spaces and Triebel-Lizorkin spaces Fp,qs(ℝn). Applications are given to linear parabolic equations and to Schrödinger semigroups.
O retorno do escravismo em meados do século XIX
Marques,Joo Pedro;
Análise Social , 2006,
Abstract: in the final quarter of the nineteenth century, portugal and other european countries took part in the conquest and occupation of the african hinterland and based their exploitation of the new territories on forms of exploiting labour which were very close to slavery - which had supposedly been abolished. this article shows how this paradox arose in the decades of the 1850s and 60s, and how it was the outcome of changes in the way the western peoples came to see the negro and the problem of labour in the tropics.

Avalia??o: Revista da Avalia??o da Educa??o Superior (Campinas) , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1414-40772010000100002
Abstract: community and communitarian are widely used terms, in the past as well as in the present, in the discourse of organizations, institutions and social actors, and are characterized by their polysemous qualities. as with the brazilian case, distinct initiatives have invoked the communitarian nature throughout history. in common, the self-reference to the collective interest and not being owned by the state. to distinguish them, the varied ideological perspectives, the different ways of interacting with the state and society, the internal forms of organization. the mobilization of the communitarian institutions for higher education in brazil in favor of their own legal framework, strengthens the communitarian discourse under the not state-owned public perspective. this text approaches the main experiences of the communitarian in brazilian education and discusses the meaning of the communitarian as a public and yet not state-owned institution.
Colapso da equiparti??o da energia
Braga, Joo Pedro;
Química Nova , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-40422001000500018
Abstract: this paper discuss the consequences of the equipartition principle when used to calculate the heat capacity of atoms and molecules, a discussion that appeared at the end of xix century and beginning of the xx century. classical molecular thermodynamics prediction of the heat capacity is introduced, followed by a presentation of the degrees of freedom of a system. the historical discussion that appeared at the time, by dulong, petit, maxwell, boltzmann, rayleigh and kelvin is discussed afterwards. the necessity of a new theory is also presented as a direct consequence of the equipartition principle collapse.
Estratégias empresariais e gest?o do desenvolvimento no sector de componentes para automóvel
Cordeiro,Joo Pedro;

Modalidades de inser??o profissional dos quadros superiores nas empresas
Cordeiro,Joo Pedro;
Sociologia, Problemas e Práticas , 2002,
Abstract: this article deals with the vocational integration dialectics of senior executives in companies with differing innovation capacities. the aim was to identify the extent to which the vocational integration of senior executives is influenced by the various business contexts in which it occurs. the author also tries to determine whether the factors that generate these unequal possibilities do indeed include differing degrees of innovation capacity of this type. amongst the various aspects that determine the way in which senior executives manage, he particularly comes across formats that reveal the existence of specific strategies. these are at the source of two very contrasting vocational integration models: that of "qualifying vocational integration", and that of "non-qualifying vocational integration".
IDENTIFYING OF THE REASONS FOR THE PROJECT DESIGN ERRORS IN THE PORTUGUESE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
Joo Pedro Couto
Academic Research International , 2012,
Abstract: The European construction industry is currently experiencing great difficulties and challenges but in Portugal the sector is facing a critical moment which will decisively impact its future. Along with the redefinition of its legal framework, so as to make it more efficient and bring it up to date, the sector is going through stagnation in the private market and a slump in the public construction market, mostly on account of the current state of economy country. Furthermore, the lack of accomplishment of cost, time, safety, and quality, has been recurrently mentioned in the press and in technical literature as one of the main causes for thelack of competitiveness of sector. The poor quality of project designs has been considered as main reason for the recurrent time and cost overruns. Previous studies have often found that designs contain a lot of errors and omissions. This paper wills critically to discuss the problem of poor quality design in Portugal using literature and data from a set of interviews with expert construction managers. The main reasons for the poor quality of project designs have been established from the outcomes of a national survey undertaken and a series of interviews of experts. Some measures that would lessen the problem have been identified.

Disagreeing before acting: The paradoxes of critique and politics from Adorno to Rancière
Joo Pedro Cachopo
Theoria and Praxis : International Journal of Interdisciplinary Thought , 2013,
Abstract: This article develops the hypothesis that the paradoxical character of critique (the fact that it questions its own grounds) is not an obstacle to, but a condition of, its theoretical and practical effectiveness. In order to clarify and expand this hypothesis with regard to its political implications I examine Rancière’s distinction between “politics” and “police,” his appraisal of “disagreement” (in contrast to Lyotard’s “différend”), along with his thesis that the rationality of “disagreement” sheds light on the paradox of politics (which consists, to paraphrase Rancière, in the very absence of any ground for the power of ruling). This will help counter the well-known criticism raised by Habermas against Adorno according to which a non-normative understanding of critique entails a “performative contradiction.” Against this assumption, I argue that to foster “disagreement” over what constitutes politics, in order to stimulate new ways of imagining what might be done – rather than to promote “consensus” on what should be done – is hardly an inappropriate goal for a politically focused philosophical critique.
