Abstract: most soccer matches are conducted by coaches who usually make all player substitutions allowed. therefore, it is extremely important to study these substitutions and their effects on the intensity of effort required from players. to date, no published studies have reported on this topic using heart rate (hr) as an intensity parameter. the objective of this study was to compare effort intensity (ei) of soccer players in the following situations: 1) first half (fh-ei); 2) second half (sh-ei); 3) second half with substitutions (shs-ei). forty-five male soccer players (18.5±1.2 years old, 74.25±5.79 kg, 182.6±8.55 cm, 9.56±2.47% body fat, 56.3±4.3 mlo2/kg/min) were evaluated during 29 official games. ei was considered as the mean hr, expressed as the percentage of each player's maximal hr (%hrmax) and as the time spent in each intensity zone (z) according to %hrmax (z1<70%; z2 70-85%; z3 85-90%; z4 90-95%; z5 95-100%). fh-ei (86.3±3.3%hrmax) was higher than sh-ei (80.6±4.4%hrmax) and shs-ei (83.6±2.8%hrmax). shs-ei was higher than sh-ei (p<0.05). time spent in high-intensity zones was lower in sh-ei than in fh-ei, but higher in shs-ei when compared to sh-ei (p<0.05). it was concluded that the decrease in ei in the second half of soccer matches was attenuated by substitutions made at halftime, as evidenced by a longer time spent in high-intensity zones when compared to sh-ei.
Reflections on the Green Economy (Redemption of the Principles of Mill and Pigou): A View of a Brazilian Environmentalist  [PDF]
Joo Batista Drummond Camara
Journal of Environmental Protection (JEP) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/jep.2014.512113
Abstract: The current context of global efforts in the pursuit of sustainable development can be characterized by the perception of the scientific-technological losses of ecosystems and ecosystem services and their consequences for the survival of humanity in the face of threats of imbalances in the basic conditions for survival such as food production, the environmental quality, natural control of pests and diseases, loses of biodiversity and climate changes. Some recent initiatives at global, regional and local level are pointed and some conceptual trends and deployment strategies advance towards the consolidation of the principles of sustainable development, despite several difficulties for effectively reaching its goals. The trend of gradual changes in the models of developing nations and in the patterns of production and consumption is portrayed objectively, seeking to correlate with principles of environmental economics and green economy, since Cecil Pigou and Stuart Mill principles to recent researches as Kenneth Boulding, Herman Daly, Nicholas Georgescu-Rogen, Franz Capra, Ignacy Sachs, Edgar Morin, beyond others. The ability of the United Nations and governments to intervene in neoliberal logic aiming wider benefit to society and the reduction of the negative effects of market distortions, as striking on the global stage, represents a true redemption of the principles advocated by Cecil Pigou, at the beginning of the last century, both for the global economy and for their effects on environmental and social conflicts, social exclusion resulting from the current economic systems which are not necessary new strategies, principles, or economic formulas, but decision making to tackle the market with seriousness to promote equity, social justice and environmental sustainability, without sacrificing progress and development, as evident in the current discussion of social inclusion and the convergence of individual and collective interests, so far in the development model based on increasing production and consumption, yet with little environmental responsibility.

Abstract: this work aims to present an analysis on book’s lev s. vigotski entitled educational psychology published in 1926, with the objective of identifying some elements that it allows us to characterize your scientific project for the psychology. like this, along the analysis, we established an approach of vigotski with the marxism and with the dialetic, indicating the intention of vigotski in building a psychology taken root in the historical materialism and dialetic and that such proposition was already idealized in the beginning of your career, among 1917-1923. we located the book educational psychology while a paradoxical work because to the same in time that throws the bases for a new psychology, it doesn’t stop pointing your transitory character.
Spatial and multi-temporal analysis of deforestation and quantification of the remnant forests on Porto Rico Island, Paraná, Brazil
Campos, Joo Batista;
Brazilian Archives of Biology and Technology , 1999, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-89131999000100013
Abstract: the process of land occupation by the state of paraná practically decimated its forests. presently, only 7% from a total area of 83.41% is covered by forests. most of them are now concentrated in the "serra do mar" and in the igua?u national park. with regard to forest cover the most critical region is situated in the northwestern of the state with less than 1% of its area covered by forest. this restricted area mainly consists of conservation units and the islands of the high paraná river floodplain. the present study consists of a spatial and multi-temporal analysis of deforestation and the quantification of the remnant forests on porto rico island (22o45's; 53o15'w), which have their occupation history linked to the colonization process of the region. historical aerial photographs of this region were used and the relationship of deforestation with the process of colonization and social transformation of the region is discussed.
A atua??o do psicólogo escolar: multirreferencialidade, implica??o e escuta clínica
Martins, Joo Batista;
Psicologia em Estudo , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-73722003000200005
Abstract: this article discusses the notion of clinic in the school psychology context. as we suggest the participant observation as research methodology and of intervention for the school psychologist, we understand that such discussion also refers to epistemological questions - once the knowledge production occurs in the order of implication, because it is an intersubjective production. besides, considering the complexity of the school quotidian, we present the multi-referential approach and clinic listening as perspectives for the understanding of the phenomena that are developed in the school context.
