Equivalent Substitution Based Method for Calculation of Best Installed Capacity of Pumped Storage Power Station  [PDF]

Abstract:

This paper proposes a novel method to calculate the best installed capacity of pumped storage power station. First, we choose the day with maximum load as the typical day for every month and simulate the system running in two cases of whether the pumped storage power station is put into operation. The difference of the total coal consumption between the two cases is the peak load shifting benefit. Furthermore, we build load model and power generation model to calculate the benefit of emergency use and frequency modulation, which are the major projects of dynamic benefits. At last, on the premise of ensuring the system requirements, the developed method employs the maximum benefit of the unit capacity as the objective function to get the best installed capacity of pumped storage power station by simulations. Tests on a provincial power grid have shown that the developed method which combines of load characteristics, electric structure and other factors can get the best installed capacity of pumped storage power station easily and has a certain guiding significance for the planning and construction of the pumped storage power station.

Abstract: With the sharp changes in external environment, sustainable competitive advantage is importance resource that the enterprises need to get in the fierce market game. The 90’s are becoming the backbone of enterprises, and under the background of human resources, driving the development of the enterprise innovation ability by cultivating highly professional knowledge staff is the important measure of enterprise to obtain sustainable competitive advantage. This study will explore the relationship between employees’ career growth and work engagement, in order to provide effective advice for enterprise to cultivate staffs with high job engagement. Based on social exchange theory, empirical results indicate that career growth has significant positive impact on employees’ job engagement through a mediating role of normative commitment. Meanwhile, the two assumptions about the moderating role of organizational justice are not supported, which are including that organizational justice plays a moderating role between career growth and job engagement, and organizational justice adjusts the mediating role of normative commitment between career growth and job engagement. Empirical results indicate that organizational justice plays a moderating role between normative commitment and job engagement. The research results show that enterprises can satisfy employees’ career growth needs, such as economic, power, ability, social and emotional needs, thus achieving the goal of improving employee’s organization normative commitment level, and eventually achieving the goal of employees work commitment.
Survey of Stereotactic Body Radiation Oncology for Early Staged Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer in China  [PDF]

Abstract:

Purpose: To evaluate the current status of stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) for early staged non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) at main cancer hospitals in China. Methods and Materials: The questionnaire was sent by mail and email to 21 hospitals, which include the patient enrollment, treatment technique, dose and fractionation, quality control, disease control and side effects. Results: Nineteen hospitals responded. It was found that SBRT has been used for early staged NSCLC in most of the hospitals participating in the survey. The patient characteristics and techniques were relatively consistent, but there were many controversies regarding dose fractionation and quality control. Conclusions: SBRT for early staged NSCLC has been applied at main cancer hospitals in China. However, considerable variation exists. The establishment of clinical guidelines and standardized quality control are crucial for further improvement.

Abstract: Next generation wireless networks will support a diverse set of access technologies. And the demanding breed of multimedia applications will even more considerably require Quality of Service (QoS) support. This paper proposes an optimal prority-based Call Admission Control (CAC) scheme in heterogeneous wireless networks, i.e., the generalized semi-Markov Decision Process based CAC (GCAC). Considering the limitations of the traditional Markov decision process for optimal CAC policy, we characterize the CAC problem through a GSMDP formulation that characterizes the network behaviors in the heterogeneous system more exactly. And the proposed scheme can guarantee the QoS constrains both in the physical and network layer. Numerical examples illustrate that the performance in the GCAC scheme is significantly better than that in the conventioinal GC scheme and an optimal CAC schme based on MDP.
Validation of an information--motivation--behavioral skills model of self-care among Chinese adults with type 2 diabetes

Abstract: We tested the Information--Motivation--Behavioral Skills (IMB) model in a sample of Chinese adults with Type 2 diabetes.A cross-sectional study of 222 Chinese adults with type 2 diabetes was conducted in a primary care center. We collected information on demographics, provider-patient communication (knowledge), social support (motivation), self-efficacy (behavioral skills), and diabetes self-care (behavior). The values of total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) were also obtained. Measured variable path analyses were used to the IMB framework.Provider-patient communication (beta = 0.12, p = .037), and social support (beta = 0.19, p = .007) and self-efficacy (beta = 0.41, p < .001) were independent, direct predictors of diabetes self-care behavior. Diabetes self-care behaviors had a direct effect on TC/HDL-C (beta = -0.31, p < .001) and LDL-C/HDL-C (beta = -0.30, p < .001).Consistent with the IMB model, having better provider-patient communication, having social support, and having higher self-efficacy was associated with performing diabetes self-care behaviors; and these behaviors were directly linked to lipid control. The findings indicate that diabetes education programs should including strategies enhancing patients' knowledge, motivation and behavioral skills to effect behavior change.
Prevalence of human herpesvirus 8 infection in systemic lupus erythematosus

Abstract: In the present study, serum samples from patients (n = 108) with diagnosed SLE and matched controls (n = 122) were collected, and the prevalence of HHV-8 was compared by a virus-specific nested PCR and a whole virus enzyme-linked immunoassay (EIA). There was significant difference in the prevalence of HHV-8 DNA between SLE patients and healthy controls (11 of 107 vs 1 of 122, p = 0.001); significant difference was also found in the detection of HHV-8 antibodies (19 of 107 vs 2 of 122, p < 0.001).We also detected the antibodies to Epstein-Barr virus viral capsid antigen (EBV-VCA) and Epstein-Barr nuclear antigen-1 (EBNA-1). Both patients and controls showed high seroprevalence with no significant difference (106 of 107 vs 119 of 122, p = 0.625).Our finding indicated that there might be an association between HHV-8 and the development of SLE.Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a disorder that affects multiple organ systems. Patients with SLE display abnormalities in immune system functions. For instance, it causes enhanced B cell function and the production of numerous autoantibodies. The etiology of SLE has not been completely elucidated now, however, there is striking evidence indicating that both genetic and environmental factors contribute to the development of SLE [1]. In other words, genetic predispositions play its role under the stimulation of environmental agents.A number of viruses, including parvovirus B19 [2], Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) [3,4], human papillomavirus (HPV) [5,6], cytomegalovirus (CMV) [7], and some endogenous retrovirus [8], have been implicated as possible environmental factors contributing to the onset and/or exacerbation of SLE. Strain induced edge magnetism at zigzag edge in graphene quantum dot

Abstract: We study the temperature dependent magnetic susceptibility of a strained graphene quantum dot by using the determinant quantum Monte Carlo method. Within the Hubbard model on a honeycomb lattice, our unbiased numerical results show that a relative small interaction $U$ may lead to a edge ferromagnetic like behavior in the strained graphene quantum dot, and a possible room temperature transition is suggested. Around half filling, the ferromagnetic fluctuations at the zigzag edge is strengthened both markedly by the on-site Coulomb interaction and the strain, especially in low temperature region. The resultant strongly enhanced ferromagnetic like behavior may be important for the development of many applications.
