Abstract: The title compound, C14H9Br2N3O4·CH4O, was obtained as the product of the reaction of 3,5-dibromosalicylaldehyde with 4-nitrobenzohydrazide in methanol. The benzohydrazide molecule is nearly planar, with a maximum deviation of 0.126 (2) . The mean planes of the two benzene rings make a dihedral angle of 9.3 (3)°. Intramolecular O—H...N and O—H...Br interactions are observed in the benzohydrazide molecule. In the crystal, pairs of adjacent benzohydrazide molecules are linked by two methanol molecules through intermolecular O—H...O and N—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming a dimer.

Abstract: The room temperature ionic liquid 1-n-butyl-3-methylimmidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([bmim]BF4) was used to promote the synthesis of quinoxaline derivatives under grinding condition. Abstract: Mental retardation is not only a defect of life, but a manifestation of multi-life of human beings as well. Educational problems of mental retarded children reflect the situation of protecting for our children’s rights. Mentally retarded children’s education, firstly, is family education. If parents of mentally retarded children use rational and scientific methods to build favorable family education atmosphere, it will be of great benefit for the grow-up of mentally retarded children. Abstract: The impact of disaster on human beings is tremendous. With the advent of disaster, individuals or family members will suffer life-threatening, property loss, organization breakdown, community relationship disintegration and Psychological trauma. Disaster relief provides an opportunity to social work. Through personal experiences on social work services provided in Sichuan disaster areas, this paper discusses social work theory, methods and goals on disaster relief. Abstract: The MOVPE Hg 1-xCd xTe epitaxial film, LPE Hg 1-xCd xTe epitaxial film and Hg 1-xCd xTe bulk wafers grown by ACRT-Bridgman and Te solvent methods were measured by means of Raman microscopy in the room temperature. In all the experimental specimen, the micro-Photoluminescence emission centered above the bottom of Hg 1-xCd xTe conduction band about 1.5eV were observed for the first time. It is confirmed that the micro-photoluminescence was induced by the Te ion vacancy resonance level.
Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms of PIN1 Promoter Region and Cancer Risk: Evidence from a Meta-Analysis

Abstract: Background Peptidylprolyl cis/trans isomerase NIMA-interacting 1 (PIN1) is involved in the process of tumorigenesis. The two single nucleotide polymorphisms (?677T>C, ?842G>C) in the PIN1 promoter region have been suspected of being associated with cancer risk for years, but the conclusion is still inconclusive. Methods Eligible case-control studies were retrieved by searching databases and references of related reviews and studies. Genotype distribution data, adjusted odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence (CIs) intervals were extracted to calculate pooled ORs. Results A total of 4619 cancer cases and 4661 controls were included in this meta-analysis. Overall, the PIN1 ?667T>C polymorphism was not associated with cancer risk, while the ?842C allele was significantly associated with reduced cancer risk (CC+GC vs. GG, OR = 0.725, 95% CI: 0.607–0.865; Pheterogeneity = 0.012 and GC vs. GG: OR = 0.721, 95% CI: 0.591–0.880; Pheterogeneity = 0.003). Results from genotype distribution data were in agreement with those calculated with adjusted ORs and 95% CIs. No publication bias was detected. Conclusions Results of this meta-analysis suggest that the PIN1 ?842G>C polymorphism is associated with decreased cancer risk, but that the ?667T>C polymorphism is not.
Different Roles for Contracture and Calpain in Calcium Paradox-Induced Heart Injury

Abstract: The Ca2+ paradox represents a good model to study Ca2+ overload injury in ischemic heart diseases. We and others have demonstrated that contracture and calpain are involved in the Ca2+ paradox-induced injury. This study aimed to elucidate their roles in this model. The Ca2+ paradox was elicited by perfusing isolated rat hearts with Ca2+-free KH media for 3 min or 5 min followed by 30 min of Ca2+ repletion. The LVDP was measured to reflect contractile function, and the LVEDP was measured to indicate contracture. TTC staining and the quantification of LDH release were used to define cell death. Calpain activity and troponin I release were measured after Ca2+ repletion. Ca2+ repletion of the once 3-min Ca2+ depleted hearts resulted in almost no viable tissues and the disappearance of contractile function. Compared to the effects of the calpain inhibitor MDL28170, KB-R7943, an inhibitor of the Na+/Ca2+ exchanger, reduced the LVEDP level to a greater extent, which was well correlated with improved contractile function recovery and tissue survival. The depletion of Ca2+ for 5 min had the same effects on injury as the 3-min Ca2+ depletion, except that the LVEDP in the 5-min Ca2+ depletion group was lower than the level in the 3-min Ca2+ depletion group. KB-R7943 failed to reduce the level of LVEDP, with no improvement in the LVDP recovery in the hearts subjected to the 5-min Ca2+ depletion treatment; however, KB-R7943 preserved its protective effects in surviving tissue. Both KB-R7943 and MDL28170 attenuated the Ca2+ repletion-induced increase in calpain activity in 3 min or 5 min Ca2+ depleted hearts. However, only KB-R7943 reduced the release of troponin I from the Ca2+ paradoxic heart. These results provide evidence suggesting that contracture is the main cause for contractile dysfunction, while activation of calpain mediates cell death in the Ca2+ paradox.

Abstract: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C16H16N2O3, contains four independent molecules with different conformations; the dihedral angles between the two benzene rings in the molecules are 39.7 (3), 45.4 (3), 50.6 (3) and 51.6 (3)°. Intramolecular O—H...N hydrogen bonds are observed in the molecule. In the crystal, N—H...O hydrogen bonds link the molecules into two crystallographically independent chains propagating in [010], and each chain is formed by two alternating independent molecules. Weak C—H...O interactions also occur.

Abstract: The title compound, C11H14ClNO3, was prepared by the condensation of equimolar quantities of 5-chlorosalicylaldehyde and 2-amino-2-methylpropane-1,3-diol in methanol. In the crystal, it exists in the zwitterionic form, with nominal proton transfer from the phenol group to the imine N atom. This results in the formation of an intramolecular N—H...O hydrogen bond, which generates an S(6) ring. Intermolecular O—H...O hydrogen bonds arise from the hydroxy groups, forming (001) sheets.
Spatially Separated and Correlated Atom-molecule Lasers from a Bose Condensate

Abstract: We propose a feasible scheme to create two spatially separated atomic and molecular beams from an atomic Bose-Einstein condensate by combining the Raman-type atom laser output and the two-color photo-association processes. We examine the quantum dynamics and statistical properties of the system under short-time limits, especially the quadrature-squeezed and mode-correlated behaviors of two output beams for different initial state of the condensate. The possibility to generate the entangled atom-molecule lasers by an optical technique was also discussed.
