Abstract:
The effect of chronic insomnia carries along a physical and psychological state of dysfunctionality felt by the individual. The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of hypnotherapeutic intervention applied in the case of patients who present insomnia accompanied by rumination. We performed the study of 42 patients who underwent the Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90) for the psychiatric evaluation and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) for sleep quality at baseline, 1 month after the program and follow-up (2 months) after finalizing the program. Our findings revealed that hypnotherapeutic intervention that involves relaxation and positive self-suggestion leads to positive results among the patient who experience insomnia accompanied by rumination.

Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2019.79016
Abstract: Objective: This study aimed to explore the relationship between traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) constitution and mental health levels of nursing staff in a general hospital. Methods: After random selection, 209 nursing staff were included to evaluate TCM constitution and mental health level through a TCM constitution checklist and the SCL-90. Results: 1) There were 102 cases (48.8%) of balanced constitution and 107 cases of biased constitution (51.2%). 2) The mental health status of the nursing staff was distributed as follows: suspected or mild (56.5%), moderate (17.2%), and severe (3.8%). 3) In the correlation analysis between mental health status and TCM constitution, interpersonal sensitivity, phobia, and paranoia were negatively correlated with normal constitution and positively correlated with biased constitution. Conclusion: The mental health status of nursing staff is poor, and biased constitution may be a risk factor for their mental health. Intervention in biased constitutions may therefore improve the mental health of nursing staff.

Psychology (PSYCH) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2019.1012106
Abstract: This study was designed to explore the relationship between anorexia nervosa and depression and to evaluate the role that endocrine hormones play in anorexia nervosa with functional hypothalamic amenorrhea and comorbid depression. In this study, thyroid hormones and sex hormones were compared between 30 first-episode drug-naive female patients with anorexia nervosa with depression (AND), and 20 female patients with anorexia nervosa with no depression (ANND). There were no differences between anorexia nervosa participants with and without depression in thyroid hormones levels. Patients with AND had significantly lower prolactin serum levels; patients with AND had a median [P25, P75] prolactin level of 213.0 uIU/ml [12.1-268.2] vs. 446.6 uIU/ml [119.1-35.5] for patients with ANND. There were no differences in other sex hormones between the two groups. Our data suggested that a lower prolactin serum level is a characteristic of first-episode neuroleptic-naive patients with AND.

Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/am.2012.33041
Abstract: Let G be a simple graph with vertex set V(G) and edge set E(G). An edge coloring C of G is called an edge cover coloring, if each color appears at least once at each vertex . The maximum positive integer k such that G has a k edge cover coloring is called the edge cover chromatic number of G and is denoted by . It is known that for any graph G, . If , then G is called a graph of CI class, otherwise G is called a graph of CII class. It is easy to prove that the problem of deciding whether a given graph is of CI class or CII class is NP-complete. In this paper, we consider the classification on double graph of some graphs and a polynomial time algorithm can be obtained for actually finding such a classification by our proof.
A Sobel-TV Based Hybrid Model for Robust Image Denoising  [PDF]

Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/am.2014.58123
Abstract:

The traditional Total-Variation algorithm has a good result to de-noise for noise image of small scale details, but it easily losses the details for the image with rich texture and tiny boundary. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a Sobel-TV model algorithm for image denoising. It uses TV model to de-noise and uses Sobel algorithm to control smoothness of image, which not only efficiently removes image noise but also simultaneously retail information, such as edge and texture. The experiments demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is simple, practical and generates better SNR, which is an important value to preprocess image.

The Research of Ellipse Parameter Fitting Algorithm of Ultrasonic Imaging Logging in the Casing Hole  [PDF]
Jihui Tu, Bin Yang
Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/am.2014.58124
Abstract: In order to estimate intensity and direction of pressure acted on oil well in horizontal, this paper proposes an algorithm of ellipse fitting based on least square method for sections of oil well with ultrasonic imaging logging data. Five parameters about ellipse corresponding to the sections of oil well are extracted and their geometry deformations and direction are estimated. The tested results show that the fitting algorithm is robust and the estimating error of parameter is small, which have very important practical significance on processing the well logging.
A New Correction Algorithm of the Eccentric Ultrasonovision Time Image in the Casing Hole  [PDF]
Jihui Tu, Bin Yang
Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/am.2014.510134
Abstract:

The ultrasonovision image caused by the tool eccentricity can often present two pieces of vertical black strips in the Casing Well. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a correction algorithm of time eccentricity image based on ellipse fitting algorithm. This algorithm firstly utilizes borehole diameter data to fit ellipse and compute ellipse’s center, major axis, minor axis and inclination angle and other parameters, and then uses these parameters to correct eccentrical ultrasonovision time image. The tested results show that the algorithm can accurately fit ellipse and correct the eccentrical ultrasonovision time image, which is very important practical significance on processing the well logging.

Abstract: Background Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is now widely used as an adjuvant to IVF treatment protocols in poor responders. However, clinical evidence for DHEA on improvement of ovarian response and IVF outcome is still limited, the validity of the results of the earlier studies, especially the varied inclusion criteria, is a subject of debate. Recently, the ESHRE Working Group developed a new definition, the Bologna criteria. The aim of the current study was to investigate the potential effect of DHEA treatment on in vitro fertilization (IVF) outcome of poor ovarian responders that fulfill the Bologna criteria. Methods This study investigated 386 poor ovarian responders that fulfill the Bologna criteria. Patients underwent IVF-ET treatment with the GnRH antagonist protocol. The study group contained 189 patients, who received 75 mg of DHEA daily (25 mg three times daily) before the IVF cycle. The control group was composed of 197 patients who received infertility treatment, but did not receive DHEA. The IVF outcome parameters in each group were compared. Results The study and control groups did not show statistically significant differences in terms of patient demographics characteristics, mean numbers of oocytes retrieved, mature oocytes, fertilization rate, cleavage rate, or embryo availability. While the DHEA group demonstrated significantly higher implantation rates (18.7% vs. 10.1%; P<0.01) and ongoing PRs (26.7% vs. 15.8%; P<0.05) as compared with the control. Conclusions DHEA pre-treatment does not significantly increase oocyte yield. However, the ongoing PRs in this subgroup of women are significantly higher after DHEA administration, suggesting that DHEA may increase IVF results by improving oocyte and embryo quality.
