Multiband Monopole Antenna with Sector-Nested Fractal  [PDF]
Jie Zhang, Wei Zhang
Wireless Engineering and Technology (WET) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/wet.2015.63005
Abstract: A kind of novel multi-frequency monopole antenna with sector-nested fractal is proposed and designed, which is nested with a series of similar circular sector elements. By means of the trapeziform ground plane with the tapered CPW (coplanar waveguide) feeder in the middle, the antenna’s radiation performance is greatly improved. The antennas can synchronously operate in three frequencies, covering the working frequency bands of WLAN/WiMAX, 2.44 GHz/3.5 GHz/5.2 GHz - 5.8 GHz. The pattern and impedance measurements of antenna show a good performance over the WLAN/WiMAX band; it possesses a near omni-directional characteristic and good radiation efficiency. Moreover, the antenna is miniature and its design idea can be easily applied into other types of nested structure, the features of which make the proposed antenna have a promising application in other fields.
ELT TEACHERS’ ROLE WITHIN E-LEARNING AND COMMUNICATIVE TEACHING FROM STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS  [PDF]
Xie Jie, Zhang Genlin
Creative Education (CE) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ce.2012.37b040
Abstract: The present thesis aims to empirically determine the effects of technology, specifically the integration of e-learning within English language teaching, on students’ perception of teachers’ role. Participants were divided into experimental (e-learning) E-group and controlled (traditional) T-group. SPSS was used to analyze the data collected. The results show that, in both groups, students’ perceptions of the teachers’ role remain positive form the beginning of the term to the end. Such findings reveal that the role of ELT teachers within e-learning is analogous to an interactive teacher of the earlier conventions, a multifaceted one with strategy-oriented tasks ranging from Facilitation, Advising, Conducting experiments, Engineering activities, to Supporting divergent learning styles, pathways and creative productions (FACES). However, in the aspects of giving advice, offering educational and technological support and engineering various activities, e-learning group of students holds more positive attitude than the traditional group.

Inclusive Economic Growth from Institutional Transition of Educational Centralization: Panel Data Evidence in China’s History Since 1978 to 2008  [PDF]
Wenxing Zhou, Jie Zhang
Theoretical Economics Letters (TEL) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/tel.2018.83016
Abstract: Partly because interregional divergence for several decades in China had been concluded, Chinese development path is always criticized by many western scholars. However, this paper argues for an actual convergence in evidence of new data set with explanation from its provincial initially average income, institutional transition of education, and booming labor mobility, etc. as explanatory variables. Interregional GDP per worker satisfies β-convergence on condition that domestic in- and out-migrations are included in denominators, when the quickly-accumulated and spatially-equalized human capital is decisive to the convergence and growth. The preferential economic policies for the first-open coastal line even inversely accelerate the convergence process nationwide because of huge in- and out-migration. The central government initially “giving priority to efficiency” seemed to abandon spatial fairness, but it ultimately leads to the best ending of embodying inclusivity for employment with quick economic growth in the long run. The path of socialism with Chinese characteristics for development is highly positive in the field of pushing inclusive growth miracle.
13C-18O Bonds in Precipitated Calcite and Aragonite: An ab Initio Study  [PDF]
Jie Yuan, Zhigang Zhang, Yigang Zhang
Open Journal of Geology (OJG) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ojg.2014.49034
Abstract: The 13C-18O bonds in carbonates are potential single-phase geo-thermometers. However, their theoretical distributions (noted as Δ47s) in CO2 degassed from calcite and aragonite with phosphoric acid are unclear. Thus, the isotope reactions of 13C-18O bonds on the growing surfaces of calcite (0001) and aragonite (001) planes were investigated using ab initio techniques. It was found that these reactions determined 13C-18O clumped isotope signatures in bulk calcite and aragonite minerals with novel Δ47 polynomials: \"\"
Preparation and Characterization of Titania Microspheres and Their Application in a Liquid Chromatography Stationary Phase  [PDF]
Jie Zhang, Xiaoshu Zhu, Yinping Zhang
Journal of Crystallization Process and Technology (JCPT) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/jcpt.2016.63003
Abstract: Titania microspheres were synthesized using hydrothermal methods to exploit a new liquid chromatography stationary phase. The prepared titania microspheres were approximately 7 μm in diameter, and the particle size distribution was relatively narrow and uniform. Furthermore, the average specific surface area was 276.0 m2·g·1, the average pore volume was approximately 0.25 mL·g·1, and the pore diameter was approximately 35.9 nm for sintering titania microspheres. These parameters indicate that the titania microspheres prepared for this study have excellent surface properties for chromatography. Additionally, columns filled with the titania microspheres were able to separate basic compounds, including benzene, nitrobenzene and o-nitroanisole. It could be proposed that the titania microspheres prepared for this study would be a promising stationary phase for liquid chromatography.
A Markov Based Performance Analysis of Handover and Load Balancing in HetNets  [PDF]
Baoling Zhang, Weijie Qi, Jie Zhang
Int'l J. of Communications, Network and System Sciences (IJCNS) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/ijcns.2017.1010013
Abstract: LTE heterogeneous networks (HetNets) is becoming a popular topic since it was first developed in 3GPP Release 10. HetNets has the advantage to assemble various cell networks and enhance users’ Quality of Service (QoS) within the system. However, its development is still constrained by two main issues: 1) Load imbalance caused by different transmission powers for various tiers, and 2) The unbalanced transmission power may also increase unnecessary handover rate. In order to solve the first issue, Cell range expansion (CRE) can be applied in the system, which will benefit lower-tier cell during user association phase; CRE, Hysteresis Margin (HM) and Time-to-Trigger (TTT) will be utilized to bound UE within lower tier network of HetNets and therefore solve the second issue. On the other hand, the relationship of these parameters may be complicated and even reduce QoS if they are chosen incorrectly. This paper will evaluate the advantage and disadvantage of all three parameters and propose a Markov Chain Process (MCP) based method to find optimal HM, CRE and TTT values. And then, the simulation is taken and the optimal combination for our scenario is obtained to be 1 dB, 6 dB and 60 ms respectively. First contribution of this paper is to map the HetNets handover process into MCP and all the phases of handover can be calculated and analysed in probability way, so that further prediction and simulation can be realised. Second contribution is to establish a mathematical method to model the relationship of HM, CRE and TTT in HetNets, therefore the coordination of these three important parameters is achieved to obtain system optimization.
Extensive Experimental Validation of a Personalized Approach for Coping with Unfair Ratings in Reputation Systems
Zhang,Jie;
Journal of theoretical and applied electronic commerce research , 2011, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-18762011000300005
Abstract: the unfair rating problem exists when a buying agent models the trustworthiness of selling agents by also relying on ratings of the sellers from other buyers in electronic marketplaces, that is in a reputation system. in this article, we first analyze the capabilities of existing approaches for coping with unfair ratings in different challenging scenarios, including ones where the majority of buyers are dishonest, buyers lack personal experience with sellers, sellers may vary their behavior, and buyers may provide a large number of ratings. we then present a personalized modeling approach (pma) that has all these capabilities. our approach allows a buyer to model both the private reputation and public reputation of other buyers to determine whether these buyers' ratings are fair. more importantly, in this work, we focus on experimental comparison of our approach with two key models in a simulated dynamic e-marketplace environment. we specifically examine the above mentioned scenarios to confirm our analysis and to demonstrate the capabilities of our approach. our study thus provides the extensive experimental support for the personalized approach that can be effectively employed by reputation systems to cope with unfair ratings.
