Time and Space Analysis of House Price in Mainland China in the Last 10 Years  [PDF]
Jian Guan, Junhui Gao
Modern Economy (ME) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/me.2018.99096
Abstract: In this paper, time series analysis, geographic information, cluster analysis, causality test and other techniques and means are used to analyze the housing prices of mainland China in the past 10 years. Kmeans clusters after comparison of house prices between provinces and neighboring provinces, provinces of the same category are continuously distributed on the map; the highest price area and the lowest price area on the time series are also continuously distributed on the map; the time series-based causality test found that the growth rate of house prices in six provinces was affected by the surrounding provinces, and the growth rate of house prices in one province affected the growth rate of house prices in neighboring provinces.
Predication of 3-D Viscous Flowfield of a Centrifugal Impeller  [PDF]
Limin Gao, Xudong Feng, Jian Xie
Energy and Power Engineering (EPE) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/epe.2011.31005
Abstract: A three-dimensional viscous code has been developed to solve Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The governing equations in finite volume form are solved by two-step Runge-Kutta scheme with implicit residual smoothing. The eddy viscous is obtained using the Baldwin-Lomax model. A prediction of the 3-D turbulent flow and the performance in the “all-over controlled vortex distribution” centrifugal impeller with a vaneless diffuser has been made for the compressor at design and off-design condition. The predicted effi-ciency is a little higher than the experiment data. These results suggest that the present calculation code is able to determine the flow development in the impeller and also the turbulence model in the centrifugal im-peller should be improved.
A robust penalized method for the analysis of noisy DNA copy number data
Xiaoli Gao, Jian Huang
BMC Genomics , 2010, DOI: 10.1186/1471-2164-11-517
Abstract: We propose a penalized LAD regression model with the adaptive fused lasso penalty for detecting CNV. This method contains robust properties and incorporates both the spatial dependence and sparsity of CNV into the analysis. Our simulation studies and real data analysis indicate that the proposed method can correctly detect the numbers and locations of the true breakpoints while appropriately controlling the false positives. The proposed method has three advantages for detecting CNV change points: it contains robustness properties; incorporates both spatial dependence and sparsity; and estimates the true values at each marker accurately.Deletions and amplifications of the human genomic DNA copy number are the causes of numerous diseases. They are also related to phenotypic variation in the normal population. Therefore, the detection of DNA copy number variation (CNV) is important in understanding the genetic basis of disease, such as, various types of cancer. Several techniques and platforms have been developed for genome-wide analysis of DNA copy number, including comparative genomic hybridization (CGH), array-based comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH), single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) arrays and high-resolution mapping using high-density tiling oligonucleotide arrays (HR-CGH) [1-5]. These platforms have been used with microarrays. Each microarray consists of tens of thousands of genomic targets or probes, sometimes referred to as markers, which are spotted or printed on a glass surface. During aCGH analysis, a DNA sample of interest (test sample), and a reference sample are differentially labelled with dyes, typically Cy3 and Cy5, and mixed. The combined sample is then hybridized to the microarray and imaged, which results in the test and reference intensities for all the markers. The goal of the analysis of DNA copy number data is to partition the whole genome into segments where copy numbers change between contiguous segments, and subsequently to quantify
Mechanisms Leading to Negative Transfer
Xiaorong Luo,Jian Gao
Theory and Practice in Language Studies , 2011, DOI: 10.4304/tpls.1.5.507-510
Abstract: Negative transfer or interference is one of the difficulties in the course of second language learning for its existence in different linguistic levels. It is covered and permeable. At the same time, it is embodied in such various activities of parole as listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating and often occurs unconsciously when learners transfer items and structures that are not the same in both languages, and within the theory of contrastive analysis, it is believed that the greater the differences between the two languages, the more negative transfer can be expected. There are many factors that may lead to the negative transfer. The devices for it can be analyzed in the following aspects.
On Pragmatic Failures in Second Language Learning
Xiaorong Luo,Jian Gao
Theory and Practice in Language Studies , 2011, DOI: 10.4304/tpls.1.3.283-286
Abstract: Pragmatics is the study of the use of language in communication, which includes the study of how the interpretation and use of utterances depends on knowledge of the real world; how speakers use and understand speech acts; how the structure of sentences is influenced by the relationship between the speaker and the hearer. When the pragmatic force of a language is misunderstood, the communication fails, leading to pragmatic failures. The pragmatic failures are composed of pragmatic linguistic failures and social-pragmatic failures. By improving learners’ linguistic and communicative competence and cultural quality, the pragmatic failures might be avoided.
Systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials of Chinese herbal medicine in treatment of multiple sclerosis
Jian Liu,Ying Gao
Zhong Xi Yi Jie He Xue Bao , 2012,
Abstract: BACKGROUND: Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) has been widely used in the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS). However, there is no systematic review to assess the efficacy and safety of CHM.OBJECTIVE: To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of CHM in the treatment of MS.SEARCH STRATEGY: Literature was searched from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database, the Chinese Biomedical Database (SinoMed), the Chongqing VIP Chinese Science and Technology Periodical Database, Wanfang Data, PubMed and the Cochrane Library. The time limitation ran from the commencement of each database to March 15, 2011.INCLUSION CRITERIA: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) testing CHM alone or in combination with Western medicine (WM) against WM or placebo used alone were included.DATA EXTRACTION AND ANALYSIS: Two authors collected the data respectively. The assessment of methodological quality was based on the Cochrane Handbook and the data were analyzed by using RevMan 5.1.0 software. The efficacy measure was mean difference (MD) with a 95% confidence interval (CI).RESULTS: After screening of the search results, 16 eligible RCTs with 913 cases were included. The included trials were all of low quality. Thirteen studies adopted Kurtzke Extended Disability Status Scale (EDSS) and two of them showed that EDSS in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group, and the MD and 95% CI were -0.88 (-1.26, -0.50). We performed descriptive analysis on the other eight studies which showed that EDSS of the treatment group was lower than that of the control group. Five studies adopted recurrent frequency and two of them showed that recurrent frequency in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group, and the MD and 95% CI were -0.34 (-0.52, -0.16). We performed descriptive analysis on the other three studies which showed that EDSS in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group. Analyses of secondary outcomes such as clinical symptom score, neurological sign score and immune indexes showed that integrated TCM and WM was more effective than WM treatment alone. The studies displayed that the number or range of magnetic resonance imaging lesion of the treatment group was lower than that of the control group, but there was no statistical significance. The reported adverse events in the CHM group were less than those in the control group.CONCLUSION: CHM could improve neurological signs, clinical symptoms and immune indexes, and reduce recurrent frequency. The reported adverse events in the CHM group were less than those in the con
