Research into K-means Clustering Algorithm Based on Dynamic Tunneling System

Abstract: K-means clustering algorithm itself is a global optimization problem, whose objective function has multiple local minima and only one global minimum. The algorithm is apt to fall into local minimum points through its iteration process. Dynamic tunneling algorithm is especially developed for the global optimization problem. On the basis of the local minimum got by dynamic optimization process, dynamic tunneling process makes use of tunneling to skip the local minimum point and search a lower energy valley that in essence means a lower value point than the local minimum point, thus a new initial point obtained can further be transferred to dynamic optimization process to be optimized. The use of the validity of dynamic tunneling algorithm, dynamic tunneling process of the algorithm is introduced into K-means clustering algorithm, and a novel K-means clustering algorithm based on dynamic tunneling system is presented in this paper. On the basis of local minimum got by K-means clustering algorithm, dynamic tunneling process is used to search a lower energy valley, then the value is submitted to K-means clustering algorithm for iterative optimization. The process is unceasingly repeated until the global minimum point is found. Both the theory analysis and simulation experiment results show that the presented algorithm in this paper is superior to K-means clustering algorithm.
Realization of Text Classification System Based on Improved Classification Model

Abstract: Text classification is to automatically classify an unknown class text into its corresponding text class. With the increasing growth of information, as an important research task in information-processing fields, automatic text classification has nowadays become a research hotspot. A text classification system based on improved classification model presented in this paper is used to realize automatic text classfication. The traditional feature selection algorithm doesn't take the distribution of feature terms in inter-class and intra-class into consideration, which makes the algorithm can't effectively weigh the distribution proportion of feature terms. In order to solve the problem, variance in inter-class and intra-class which describes the distribution of feature terms is used to revise weight of the feature term. Then genetic algorthm is applied to feature selection. The traditional idea that selection was done in every document is not adopted here, instead the idea that selection was done in every category is adopted. That is , genetic algorithm is used to modify the weight of the feature term until feature vector trained for every category can represent the feature of this category. Finally, the feature vector trained is used in automatic classification. After some experiments, it has proved that the method proposed is proper and feasible.
Soft Computing for Human Spermatozoa Morphology

Abstract: A fuzzy data fusion approach was used for human sperm morphology recognition analysis using 3-CCD camera image data. Fuzzy operators were used to create the relationship between abnormal sperm morphology and normal sperm aberrations after digitizing the images. The approaches have focused on frequencies of sperm with either abnormal morphology in semen analysis samples. In order to establish whether various shapes of membership functions, the authors would classify the morphology according to their head, tail, and neck shapes into symmetrical, asymmetrical, irregular and amorphous categories based on the fuzzy region. The images results demonstrated how these findings facilitated approaches on the 100 semen samples. The average probability of morphology recognition analysis was equal to 95% and the average probability of unknown parameter was equal to 4.5%. The fuzzy fusion morphology provided a unified and consistent framework to express different shapes of human spermatozoa.

An Analysis of Demons and Monsters’ Translation in Jenner’s English Version of Journey to the West  [PDF]

Abstract:
Journey to the West, boasting itself with high aesthetic values, is celebrated for its twists and turns of the plot as well as the vivid and various characters, which not only leave a deep impression on readers but also lay a solid foundation for its literary status. On the basis of translation aesthetics, this paper makes a study of the translation of demons and monsters’ names in Jenner’s English version of Journey to the West. In this paper, first of all, the author will briefly classify the demons and monsters into seven parts to show the particularity and complexity of their names, which makes it hard for translators to translate these names perfectly. Then, some typical examples are selected to discuss the translation strategies and the aesthetic values in them. Finally, the conclusion is drawn that translators are supposed to try their best to convey cultural mean-ings and charms in traditional Chinese classic works so that real cultural com-munication will be achieved.

Abstract:

Background: Holistic thinking, which is rooted in Eastern culture, is assumed to be the core of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Recently, such holistic thinking has been proposed to be applicable to Western medicine practices for alleviating serious side effects; however, the obscure and often ill-defined terms of TCM, such as qi, yin yang, and wuxing, pose considerable obstacles for further understanding TCM. In the present study, we explored whether and how TCM is actually related to the scientific construct of holistic thinking, to elucidate the particular cultural signature of TCM. Methods: A random sample of 101 college students majoring in TCM and 93 non-medical college students was recruited for the study. Two psychological scales—the Chinese Holistic Thinking Scale and the TCM Competence Scale were used respectively to measure the holistic thinking and participants’ ability to apply the TCM in practice. Results: We found that individuals who thought more holistically were better at applying TCM to modern medical problems. Interestingly, TCM was associated with holistic thinking in both TCM and non-medical students, suggesting that this association is intrinsic. Further exploration revealed that the association and variability facets of Eastern holistic thinking—which emphasize that the world is interconnected and ever-changing, respectively—significantly accounted for the individual differences in competence in utilizing TCM in practice. Conclusion: In short, our study provides the first empirical evidence linking TCM to the Eastern holistic thinking style, which not only deepens the understanding of TCM from a scientific perspective but also promotes dialogue between TCM and Western medicine for building safer and

Spin dependent transport in ferromagnetic/superconductor/ferromagnetic single electron transistor

Abstract: Ferromagnetic single electron transistors with Al islands and orthogonal ferromagnetic leads (Co) are fabricated using ebeam lithography followed by shadow evaporation techniques. I-V characteristics exhibit typical single electron tunneling effects. Transport measurements performed in external magnetic field show that, when the two ferromagnetic leads are in antiparallel configuration, spin imbalance leads to a suppression of superconductivity.
Regulatory effect of transcription factors RORγt on the Th17/Treg balances in pregnant asthma mice

Abstract: Objective  To observe the expression changes in Th17-related cytokines and retinoid acid receptor-related orphan receptor gamma t (RORγt) in mouse model of asthma during pregnancy, and to explore the effects of dexamethasone (DXM) on Th17 cell secretory function and airway inflammation in mice. Methods  Thirty female BALB/c mice were divided into three groups at random (n=10 per group): healthy pregnancy (HP) group, asthma in pregnancy (AP) group and dexamethasone (DXM) treated group (DXM group). The mice were treated as follows: those in AP and DXM groups were sensitized with an intraperitoneal injection of chicken ovalbumin-aluminum hydroxide [OVA/A1(OH)3] suspension on days 0, 7 and 14. The HP mice were sensitized with normal saline (NS) following the same protocol. All the mice were then bred with male BALB/c male mice. Pregnant mice in AP and DXM groups were exposed to 40-minute of 50g/L OVA aerosol for seven consecutive days starting from day 21. Dexamethasone in a dose of 1mg/kg was injected intraperitoneally in DXM mice 30 minutes before inhaling 50g/L OVA aerosol, while the HP group received NS only. The airway responsiveness to corresponding concentrations of inhaled acetylcholine was recorded 24h after the final OVA challenge. The index of airflow obstruction was expressed as enhanced pause (Penh) and its mean value after each nebulization. The airway tone is further expressed as the Penh(%) after being normalized by the baseline value. Total and differential cell counts in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were carried out in each sample. The histological changes in the lungs were assessed using light microscopy. The propotions of Th17 and Treg cell in mice peripheral blood cells were calculated and the Th17/Treg ratio was determined by flow cytometry. IL-17, IL-23, IFN-γand RORγt levels in the serum of mice were quantified by using ELISA technique. RT-PCR and Western blotting were performed to determine the levels of IL-17, RORγt, IL -23 and IFN-γin serum, and RORγt protein in lung tissues respectively. Results  After being sensitized by OVA, the increased total and differential cell counts (Eos, Lym and Neu) in BALF, the increased airway hyper-responsiveness and the histological changes of lung tissues were in line with the features of asthma. In AP group, Th17 cells in peripheral blood significantly increased, while the Treg T cells significantly decreased (P < 0.05). The increased Th17/Treg ratio suggested that there was an imbalance of Th17/Treg ratio in this group. The change trend of cells in DXM group was the same as that in AP grou
